The problem with Hornet going after Shockwave? Crimson would follow to try to either stop Hornet or help him ... which means Stryke will follow to protect Crimson.

Overload would see Hornet going after him, and feel the need to protect the teenybot as well. Which means that Shellshock will reluctantly have to go to protect his brother, yelling at him for his stupidity all the way.

That's 5 bots so far, and leaves BreakOut, DeathStrike, SlipStream, and SkyShadow to either call them insane, or try to save them from their stupidity.

Actually, if Deathstrike wasn't providing aircover for Jazz and company, he would probably take an attack run on Shocky. Its not like he kill Deathstrike deader than Chimera or Sixshot are likely to do on their next encounter.

Are you kidding? Shellshock would be as eager to charge forward as Overload would under those circumstances. Mind you he might try shelling the area right infront of the group first to dissuade them... but he'd go along with it.

I started paying attention to this thread way, way late, but is it too late for me to make a character and join?

No. Pretty much all the Librium games will allow interested parties to join. Marcao, for example, just joined the game recently. Write and post a character idea for Dark Silver to look over. Look at the Transformer resources thread in OOC to get the format.

Uhhh.... hon? 9 FEET tall is fuckin' SHORT!

Hornet's the smallest Autobot in the known universe at 10Feet. Even the Casseticon Rumble is 7-8 Ft tall. Crimson, who comes up to Stryke's chestplate, is 13-14 Feet tall. To be a TripleChanger, you'd have to be at least 30ft.

You must be bigger. Instead of feet let's do meters. Being at 9 meters would make you about Breakout's size and give you the mass you need for this (look man Fighter Jets are large machines okay).

Also this coil gun thingy... Tone it down. You can't have an instant hit weapon, sorry but this is a game and realism is gonna have to cave to game balance.

Alright - he's now 9 meters tall, and the coilgun doesn't fire quite as fast a shot. Not as fast hitting as an energy weapon, but still packs a shocking punch. The character bio above has been edited to reflect both changes.

Coilguns are incapable of firing a projectile at anywhere near .25 C. The physics top them out at around mach 3.

While we are at it, there are a few other issues with a hyper velocity weapon:

1) the shells not turning into plasma the moment they hit atmosphere. And that is for a solid slug. Any sensors or receivers for guidance are going to be even more vulnerable.

2) at speeds greater than 3km per second, the conventional explosive payload of a shell is irrelevant. The nuclear payload of a shell going at a substantial fraction of the speed of light is irrelevant. The KE is so much greater.

3) At a few kms, its essentially a direct fire weapon. Guidance will be irrelavant at most TF ranges, because the shell will have hit or missed before it can course correct.

"You can't survive having two sparks inside your body!" - Rattrap, Optimal Situation.

That just leaps up at the origins of the character.

The speeds are particularly insane; stealth above around .8 Mach is a bad joke. Nearly 400 MPH on the ground means he should be going airborne, F-1 cars need to be specially designed for half that speed, just to stay on the ground. The coilgun has been gotten already. And that's awfully fast for robot mode; Starscream's the fastest around and he can't break the sound barrier in robot mode.

No more fliers!

Seriously. We have enough. The same goes for armored vehicles of some sort, really freaking tall 'bots, and really freaking old bots. These other three you don' seem to fall under though.

As other's said, the speed is ridiculous, you are not breaking mach as a car, I don't care if you're a transformer or Jesus. Your mach speeds even in jet form are insane, Mach 8 is Starscream level. Point blank, you're not going as fast as Starscream. Also, if the dedicated artillery/ranged bot can't hit with any guarantees short of some extremely rare cases, you sure as hell aren't.

Alright, revision 3 has been finished.

- No more coilgun. This leaves him with his specialized missles, which are only useable in jet form; his graser guns, and the larger graser cannon rifle. And, I gave him caltrops in his Reventon form.

- His maximum speeds in all three forms have been reduced. He now can only go Mach 7 for short sprints in jet form, with his ordinary maximum of Mach 5. He also cannot go more than Mach 0.9 and expect to be "running silent." I wanted him to be a rival to Starscream's in jet form, and he still is - just not quite with the same maximum speed.

- He no longer ever, at any point, has two sparks. I thought it would be an easy way to reconcile his Autobot form and his Decepticon-derived form, but he now has both due to more spiritual leanings.

Mach 7 is still as fast as Starscream will ever go if not faster. I nearly gave B4 a heart attack when I told him that Hornet was capable of breaking Mach 3, so I don't even want to think about what he has with your character.

Mostly though, I think Charon is right. We've got LOTS of jet fighters already. Even if you don't count Hornet (and who does), there's at least three or four others. You might want to consider sticking with just the ground form, though that's up to you.

Well my first thought was wow, what the hell does he need the rest of the autobots for? He's a sniper, a air-superiority fighter, a high speed land scout, a scientist and badass enough to nearly take out a base by himself. I think that was all of the occupations he had...did I miss one?

From the responses, I'm gathering that this concept is a bit wank-ish, which was not my intention.

He's more a tinkerer by trial and error than a scientist, nowhere near the equal of Wheeljack or Ratchet. He's not a good tactician, and so won't be leading any teams. His physical strength and close combat skills are nothing at all to be impressed with. Beyond the caltrops, he has no support weaponry. If the missiles are too much, I'll remove those.

This leaves him with his speed, maneuverability, versatility of car and jet, and specialized guns. His rifle is not capable of rapid fire. His graser cannons are capable of semi-auto fire, but aren't good against armor.

With that in mind, I'll edit out the part where he nearly destroys the base, as he isn't strong enough to do so. Revision 4 is complete.

Next nitpick...

If he's a Raptor, why the fuck is the image the Boeing ST-87 concept rendering of the ATF and not the actual Raptor?

Secondly, if you're using that as a basis, why is your max cruise for stealth less then the basic cruise speed of the Raptor itself(Mach 1.72)? Cybertronian technology is more then capable of keeping up with speed to stealth ratios far beyond that. Hell, human tech is far beyond that.

Third, Starscream tries to kill Megatron on a near religious basis. Why would he bother to allow you live at all? It seems far more reasonable, given Starscream's personality, that he'd just kill you.

Fourth, I still think you've managed to render the rest of the flying autobots, save for Decepti the flying tank and Wideload the cargohauler redundently pointless.

One word:

No.

More than one word:

Fuck no. No character gets to be a 'rival' of any of the big boys like Starscream or Megatron. Shellshock has had a few run-ins with Megs yes, but every last one that had a fight ended with Shellshock's ass handed to him with survival through sheer luck or determination, and Shellshock is a legitimate warmachine whose got a really big fucking gun.

In all honesty, just because I liked it better. He's supposed to have modified the form some to account for the other changes, but they're largely superfluous in appearance.
B4UTRUST wrote:Secondly, if you're using that as a basis, why is your max cruise for stealth less then the basic cruise speed of the Raptor itself(Mach 1.72)? This was a concession, given his other abilities. It would keep him below the sound barrier, and thus allow him to run silently and undetected - he cannot shoot any of his weapons or exceed the sound barrier and remain stealthy. Of course, this does allow him to quietly set up a good sniper shot with his graser rifle, and then hit his jets to leave, I will grant that.

If the stealthy bit is causing a problem, I can remove that as well, though I did want him to have scouting capabilities in both forms.
B4UTRUST wrote:Third, Starscream tries to kill Megatron on a near religious basis. Why would he bother to allow you live at all? It seems far more reasonable, given Starscream's personality, that he'd just kill you.
I reasoned that because as Shadowflight he was under Starscream's command, but was very nearly his rival in flying and firepower. As I conceived of it, Starscream was simply going to dissect him later to figure out Soundwave's fire control systems that were added, so that he could have it as well. The Autobots attacked before he could do so.
B4UTRUST wrote:Fourth, I still think you've managed to render the rest of the flying autobots, save for Decepti the flying tank and Wideload the cargohauler redundently pointless.
This I disagree with. He was meant as a complement to the other Autobot forces as I'm reading it so far, not as a replacement.

And I'm rivals with Bludgeon. But Blitzwing is not one of the best fliers or one of the best gunners in all of the Transformers world. Starscream is either the best or the Second best flier, ever. Yeah Blitzwing is up there, but he's not Megatron/Starscream/Shockwave level.
