He was amusing really, 'good friend' HA!

Adding a bit of a drawl to his voice: "I have been somewhat busy tonight. 'Course I am here now, what do you want... friend?" He smiles slightly during the pause before 'friend,' apparently he finds something funny.

[Cynical Cat]

Marcus notices something flit by quickly behind Merry's back.

[Josh]

Padding around Marcus' house, he'd missed the discussion that had taken place. Retreating back into the shadows, his ears swiveled forward as he eavesdropped on the proceedings.

Whether or not these neonates would be of any consequence, learning of them would be a starting point in inserting himself into the social fabric of the city.

[Charon]

Marcus looked past Merry. His eyes narrowing at the spot that had moved.

Nothing. Perhaps being cooped in for so long was getting to him.

"Well, I think we should be heading to Elysium. I haven't been there for a few nights, and I need to find out where my partner is." Marcus looked back, before having to remind himself that everything was locked up and having a weapon would be useless. With his cane in hand Marcus stepped out of the door and closed it behind him, he locked the door and began walking towards the car. He'd need a new one, wouldn't be too hard.

"Do you know how to drive?"

"Never learned, the folks had one..." He trails off vaguely, waving a hand at history.

His face changes expression to delight.

"Such fancy things aren't they? I always did like to ride them." Eyes looking into memories unseen now, a thoughtful face frames them.

"Hoping to find word of, who was it, Wright? He seems uncannily good at not being around when he is expected." Merry wags his finger at Marcus as he steps gaily after Marcus. "If I had to guess I'd say he is avoiding you."

He would have to make a point of looking into the patterns later this night.

[Charon]

Marcus stopped and looked back at the madman. "And that can only mean bad things if he is." Marcus looked thoughtful for a moment. "No, let's not go to elysium, at least not tonight." Marcus made his way to the driver side door and openned it.

[Cynical Cat]

More than eight feet of very familiar Lupine stood in front of Marcus.

The wolf watched from the darkness, eyes widening when the lupine appeared.

Ah, that would be the source of the blood from the fight. And the fool was stupid enough to trail it back to his haven?

Good- a stupid target was easier to insinuate himself with.

With lightning speed Merry's expression changed from thoughtful delight to shock, rapidly progressing to horror and fear. He was no match for this thing, he would fall even faster than Marcus did he had little doubt.

Why didn't I see the patterns!? Why did I wait so long to read them?

Eyes wide and terrified he holds on to barely enough wit to do the only thing his blood could; with a panic born of desperation he throws all his skill into deadening the beast's feelings.

He can't help the thought, Your apathy is good for my soul.

All he can do now is stare in sickened horror.

[Charon]

Marcus did not seem to register shock or surprise as he appraised the werewolf.

This, was bad, in a way he'd seen it coming. All the blood would lead a wolf here. That's why he'd been eager to leave. But now his best chance was to get it distracted on Merry so he could get away.

An area 20 feet across and almost as high immediately turned into an inky dark bubble. Three tentacles leapt out of the ground and quickly wrapped around the legs of the creature. Marcus meanwhile had stepped behind the door and launched his finely tailored jacket back towards the house. Hoping the scent and darkness would confuse the creature long enough.

[Josh]

Zayne's eyes widened slightly. A Lasombra? A scout? A fool, if he was revealing his bloodline so casually, merely at a threat to his unlife.

But then, the Lasombra generally weren't noted for their courage.

If this fool was another scout, he would have to insure that the lupine finished off both him and his companion. With crusade imminent, the moment of revelation must be delayed every possible moment, so as to minimize the time the slaves of the antediluvians had for preparation.

[Cynical Cat]

The lupine howled and fury and tried to escape the tendrils by lunging towards the retreating vampire. They held. Roaring, he turned and tore them apart with his claws. Marcus had managed to buy himself and the others a few precious seconds. That might be enough

[Josh]

The wolf-scout stayed in the shadows, observing. Let the fool fight his own battles.

[Charon]

Marcus took those few seconds while the creature was clawing at his tentacles to start the car and get it moving. Hopefully he would be far enough away to be out of striking distance. Just in case he reached in the back and felt for a shotgun, he still kept his car loaded with some firepower, right? His hand touched the wooden stock and he smiled, yep.

[The Silence and I]

Time to go.
Like waking from a nightmare Merry springs into action while the beast is distracted. Pumping blood into his limbs for speed and agility he rushes the car as Marcus turns it over, trying to open the passenger door farthest from danger and enter before the beast can change its mind and go for him.

With some luck your fate shall share mine, friend.

[Cynical Cat]

The car engine moans and dies as the lupine stalks forward with an easy grace. It's clearly in no particular hurry. Why should it be? It's prey is trapped in a non-functional metal box.

[Josh]

One wolfen eye rose. Fascinating, the beast had somehow disabled the machine without laying a finger on it.

That would go in his report.

[Cynical Cat]

The Lupine looked right at Zayne and snarled.

[Josh]

Perceptive, this lupine.

Run, or fight?

He chose the better part of valor. He turned and ran, abandoning the others to their deaths.

[Charon]

Marcus swore. There went using the car to hit this son of a bitch. Damn thing had to fail now didn't it?

Marcus rushed blood into his body as his muscles grew to an immense strength. With little effort he tore the door off from the hinge and held it infront of him. He staggered a bit to rest against the car, his legs were still weak and his cane was in the car, his other hand was busy hiding the shotgun behind the door. With any luck the crazy one would find the pistol he should still have in the back of the car.

He looked back at the werewolf. Come on you little bastard.

[Cynical Cat]

Zayne felt his speed slow to slighty faster than warm molasses. The lupine howled, stepped forward, and swung at Marcus. The car door was knocked out of Marcus's one handed grip, complete with new holes from the monster's claws.

[Josh]

Very well then.

He turned, shifting to human form in the shadows, claws extending from his fingers as he readied himself for a burst of inhuman speed.

He would teach the beast what it meant to vie with one of Caine's own elite warriors...

[Charon]

Marcus smirked as the beast practically handed him his openning, as the door went flying Marcus was already swinging his right arm up, the shotgun stuck into the open mouth of the creature quite nicely. Marcus pulled the trigger immediately. A part of him praying that the stories he'd heard about these things were wrong.

[The Silence and I]

Merry looks around frantically for some kind of weapon. Curses and dead parents on Nathaniel for not bringing his weapons with him.

He quickly shuts off his enhanced hearing, that shotgun would not be kind to his ears...

Aha! A small gun revealed itself to him, at least he could shoot Marcus if he thought it would appease the wolfy.
