Okay, that's fair but it doesn't mean there will be a price increases, only a factor pushing for them as opposed to all those pushing against them. There's also the issue of what that tax money get used for. The money doesn't magically vanish from the economy when it reaches the government.
It's not that I'm unforgiving, it's that most of the people who wrong me are unrepentant assholes.

That's assuming that Obama and the Democrats actually manage to raise taxes.
There's also the issue of what the remaining money gets used for, and really we're looking at a deficit that's growing way out of control. We were looking at a potential default not too long ago and the Tea Party were all like "bring it on"!

That's true. Though I wonder whether the forces pushing against the price increase will go up at the same time taxes are applied. That would require a double dip recession. For the most part, yes. But there's always deadweight losses for any tax, which does mean that the total money does get less. Not so much as insane as willfully ignorant and insulated from reality. As you know, reality has a well known liberal bias.
