Kergan looked somewhat surprised. "Oh come on, where's your sense of adventure, and all that?"

"We're lucky we've got him this far, Kergan," Rauri teased, peering down the one marked 'worse this way'. "He druther be above, drinkin' beer an' flirtin' with the lasses."

Kergan looked somewhat disgusted. "A bit hard to do that while telling everyone that you took the safer path. But fine - as long as we come back here and take the scary door before we leave."

"Shall we be putting it to a vote then?" Rauri asked the party. "Certain Death, Worse Fate, or the one with no markin's cause they may not have made it back to mark it." The last was said with a grin and meant to tease the gnome.

Kergan nearly looked offended. "Oh, believe you me, it's not about tavern bragging rights at all. For me, it's completely about the sheer experience of it."

"So," he said as he stretched, "Which fate do we choose? Personally, I'd vote for the 'Even worse' one, since it's likely complete bullshit."

"No one else speakin' up?" Rauri asked, looking around the room. No one did. "Fine then. This way."

And she turned and walked down the hallway marked 'CERTAIN DEATH THIS WAY'. "Follow if ye've the balls, boys..."

As the DM forgot to mention earlier because he didn't come into the room at first, Elias noted upon entering the room that his connection to the Weave was severed; this is a dead magic zone.

As Rauri went up the stairs to the south exit, the northernmost column let loose an awful grinding noise and transformed into a beautiful, silk-draped humanoid figure made of stone. A bastard sword appeared in the construct's hands and it began to move with purpose towards the warblade.

Roll initiative.

Though he felt the "deadness" of the magic-less area as well, Kergan relished a chance to properly test his skills.

"Dead Magic Zone, I have no spells, and we have no combat healing" Elias cried as he brought his crossbow up, while beginning to move to within optimum firing range

The little gnome moved within optimum range, giving himself a good line of sight, while leaving himself protected by the melee combatands. He aimed his crossbow and squeezed the trigger

Elias' crossbow bolt bounced off of the creature's stone body.

Etvar's mace came to hand as he rushed forward to strike at the creature.

The construct parried Etvar's strike with its bastard sword, easily forcing his mace blow astray.

Moving adjacent to Etvar, her martial stance steady, Rauri swing her axe hard into the Statue's side. Summoning another of her WarBlade abilities, she shouted to her allies, encouraging the party to "Take 'er down, boys!"

Rauri's blow failed to connect as the creature briefly entangled her axe in the flowing cloak that it wore, fouling the blow before she could pull it free.

Walking up almost carelessly, Kergan prepared his greatsword to come down heavily upon the moving construct. "You look a little run-down, a little roughly-hewn," he said with a smirk as the blade came down heavily. "Let's even you up a bit!"

To strike:

Kergan's blade hit, and bit, but shallowly. Where a mortal creature would have been left with a gaping wound, the construct suffered a chip out of it, and nearly notched Kergan's greatsword.

The construct took a two-handed grip on the bastard sword it carried and took an almost casual swing at Kergan. It easily connected.

[12 points of damage.]

The crossbow bolt went wide, striking the ceiling before bouncing off and falling back to the floor.
