The hammer blow sent the goblin reeling.

Taking quick assessment of the condition of his troops, he yelled out another order. To those who spoke Goblin, it was simple: "Retreat!"

He proceeded to take his own advice, backing out of Therius' reach before turning to run for the door.

Kergan wrote:"Being a little greedy, aren't you?"
"I seem to have that effect on males," Rauri replied with a dangerous grin. "Had to learn ta beat 'em off with a stick, I did."

And she then demonstrated by pirouetting to her right, turning a full circle as she lead with her axe, intent on smashing the wounded goblin on the left with a full-torque uppercut.

WHIFF!!!
Rauri had led the strike too much, allowing the goblin to heed his captain's orders and start pulling out of battle. The axe-strike missed the goblin completely, drawing a frustrated snarl from Rauri.

The goblin squawked as the axe buzzed by his very nose, reeling backwards. His companion shoved him back and backed away from the humans himself before they both turned to run. The remaining goblin near Therius followed suit.

The one Etvar had knocked to the floor was in a more difficult position. The terrified creature tried to scramble up to his feet to run.

[Etvar and Eralis both get attacks of opportunity.]

As the goblin tried to stand back up and flee with his comrades Etvar growled, his mace going back and swinging forward to bludgeon the poor creature to death.
"Stay down," he yelled as the mace arced towards the skull.

Elias heard the call to retreat, and was not about to let their leader get away. He finally clicked the bolt into place, and moved up twenty feet. Leveled his crossbow at the goblin leader and squeezed the trigger

Seeing the goblins begin to retreat wasn't entirely unexpected, though Kergan did feel a bit disappointed. Then he saw the goblin that had taken a swipe at him and missed earlier, and decided to repay the favor before they all got away.

Running right at the goblin to the south of him, Kergan skidded on the bottom of his bootsoles as he aimed a sidearm slash with his greatsword right at the Goblin's hips.

The goblin cried out in pain, clutching the gaping wound now extant in his torso, but managed not to fall.

Etvar's mace dripped blood and other heavier fluids. With a flick of his wrist the gore flew off, joining the growing pool of blood on the ground. His eyes darted towards the sound of rapid movement. The goblins were fleeing for their lives. One of them was straggling behind. If he moved quick he might just make it.

He sprinted forward, boots pounding the stone floor. As soon as he got close enough he dropped and let momentum carry him forward. He extended his legs, entangling them with the goblins to bring him down.
(Improved Trip)

As soon as the goblin fell his arm swung forward, bringing his mace crashing down on the goblin's body as hard as he could.

[The crit is confirmed. I'd tell you to reroll damage for the critical hit, but he's dead either way.]

Etvar threw the goblin to the ground and smashed the bones of his face in with a hammer blow from his mace; there was a sickening crunch as the goblin's jaw and skull were smashed inwards. The body twitched once and moved no more.

Shouting for his companions to follow him, the goblin leader took two steps, flung the door open, and ran off down the hallway.

"Oh no ye dinna, ye bastards..." Rauri cried out, charging the two remaining goblins, intent on killing them before they got away. Running flat out, she struck at the closer of the two, putting as much power as she could behind the strike.

Crit Chance d20 (3), no crit.

Dam d8 (5) +3 = 8

The goblin screeched and ran, clutching the wound in his side, as his companion did the same. All of the goblins were out the door and disappeared into the darkness.

"Watch 'em run..." Rauri sighed, eying the goblin's rapid exit. "We've a blood-trail if we're wishin' ta follow."

Etvar shrugged, walking over to retrieve his dagger. He knealt down beside one of the goblin bodies to clean off his mace and blade before stowing them. He then began to loot the corpses.
"We can follow the blood trail or I can run after em and you all can catch up. But I think we should stick together."

Rauri walked over to the crossbow quarrel stuck in the wall, grabbing it close to the wall and pulling it out carefully. "I'm thinkin' you don't want out there all alone, Etvar," she said as she teased the quarrel out. "Did th' buggers have anythin' on 'em?"

The quarrel came free, and she rolled it in her fingers as she walked over to Elias. "Ye might be needin' this later."

Before doing anything else, Kergan carefully and precisely cleaned and sharpened his greatsword. Once that was finished, he helped the others loot the bodies, and in doing so, he retrieved Etvar's dagger.

Kergan handed it back to Etvar with a smirk. "I think you dropped this."

The goblins seem to have had only their weapons and armor, along with a few copper pieces and trinkets some had been gambling with. Apart from that, the room contains nothing of value.

In any case we should keep moving, I doubt we will be able to really chase the goblins in here, and we wouldnt want to be... dilly-dallying when we have limited supplies and a mad archmage who may decide at any second to start playing with us"

Etvar took the dagger gratefully.
"Thanks."

Finding nothing of real use on the goblin bodies he pocketed the few copper he found and stood.

"Indeed - one of the best quotes I ever heard was 'If your enemies know where you are, then don't be there.' I say we press onward. We've a lot of territory to cover, and I'm fairly sure we'll meet up with them for more fun later," stated Kergan, as he finished the last-minute chores before he was ready.

After he finished talking, he was as ready as he was before they first sighted the Goblins, and waited for the others.
