#1 Favorite Fantasy Assassin
Just what the title says. Who is your favorite professional killer in fantasy? My vote goes to Kalim of the Malazan Books of the Dead. Loyal, badass, partnered with High Mage Quick Ben, and knows the love of a good woman. He's a soldier, motivated by loyalty not by money.
It's not that I'm unforgiving, it's that most of the people who wrong me are unrepentant assholes.

Entreri, before he went all emo-fied.
Unless you want to count Jarlaxle as an assassin.
Unless you want to count Jarlaxle as an assassin.
Never shall innocent blood be shed, yet the blood of the wicked shall flow like a river.
The three shall spread their blackened wings and be the vengeful striking hammer of god.

Pteppic of Djelibeybi would defeat Entreri. Why? Living god, baby.

Well if we're including gods, then I have to bring in Cotillion from the Malazan series. Patron of Assassins baby. Got to love the Rope.

Well, as a superhero I'm naturally somewhat unfond of assassins but-assuming we're not limiting this to still operating ones which would exclude Pteppic, by the way- I'd have to say my least unfavourite one is Havelock Vetinari.

Ah, but has he acted and trained as one? pTeppic(Figuring out the right way to spell it as he changes the pronounciation in the book is fun) survived the full time in the Assassin's Guild(Yes, I said survived, not passed), and was rather a good Assassin. He just happened to be an Eygptian-esque Pharoah in a world where Belief COUNTS.Cynical Cat wrote:Well if we're including gods, then I have to bring in Cotillion from the Malazan series. He was head of the Talon (one of the two Malazan government assassin organizations), widely regarded as one of the most badass people on the planet, and survived an assassination attempt to Ascend and become a god.SirNitram wrote:[

As long as we're on a Discword theme, I vote Mr. Teatime (It's Tea-ah-tim-eh!). The man made detailed plans on how to kill gods.

Although he is a dirty dirty thread necromancer. I am forced to agree with Harper. Hugh the Hand was awesome. He probably doesn't compare to some in this thread. But he's still fucking awesome.Masterharper wrote:Hugh the Hand, Deathgate Cycle.

Even better, he spent holidays planning how to kill abstracts.Pcm979 wrote:As long as we're on a Discword theme, I vote Mr. Teatime (It's Tea-ah-tim-eh!). The man made detailed plans on how to kill gods.
While the head of the assasains guild waited for sleighbells, Te-ah-tim-eh worked out how to kill the Hogsfather

Man had always assumed that he was more intelligent than dolphins because he had achieved so much: the wheel, New York, wars while all the dolphins had ever done was muck about in water having a good time.
But the dolphins had always believed that they were far more intelligent than man for precisely the same reasons

I've read the bleedin' book, I was just simplifying it for those who, unfortunate souls that they are, haven't read Discworld and thus don't know what the hell we're talking about.
