Cynical Cat wrote:"Do I look like an Autobot?" asked Deathstrike. "Did I ask you for your opinion? No. You will not kill each other here. Accusations will by handled by adjudication and then if you both still want to kill each other when that is over you can invoke the Code Duelo and do it properly. Now disarm and stand down. I grow tired of repeating this."
Cavalier was back in humanoid form before Deathstrike finished speaking. His sword was once more at his side, and his shield once more retracted into his forearm. But there were few people in the universe who would have remarked on those facts in the situation Deathstrike was in, though admittedly Deathstrike was probably among them. Cavalier's optics churned like a nuclear war, his features almost blank, his frame visibly quivering with rage. He had intended to do something entirely different, to tell Deathstrike that this was a misunderstanding, to call Breakout, to do anything, but then Deathstrike had started issuing orders as a Decepticon, on top of everything else that had been going on, and something in Cavalier simply snapped.

"No," he said to Deathstrike, standing directly in the Decepticon's face, his voice distorted and chillingly even, so even that it was clear that Cavalier had removed his higher functions from interface with his voice box. "I don't think I will."

He stared into Deathstrike's face like a mechanical conjuration from some lower pit, and what was going on inside his optics would have taken a thousand mechanics a hundred years to divine. Outrage and fury and a million other things churned within it, but one thing was absolutely clear. Cavalier was about as inclined right now to take orders from Deathstrike as he was to commit ritual suicide.

"I don't give a pile of engine waste about your orders, Deathstrike," said Cavalier in a chilling monotone. "Walk out of this room while you still have legs."

Right then, the cavalry arrived.

The arrival of others, the shouts of Counterstrike and Longshot, the weapons being brandished at him, something in all that triggered a change. Something served to bring Cavalier, reluctantly perhaps, back to the reality of the situation. His churning optics flickered, his attention shifted ever so slightly, and his posture changed almost imperceptibly from open defiance to the show of it. He looked past Deathstrike at Longshot and Counterstrike and the other two dozen-odd security forces who showed up, guns drawn, demanding that everyone stand down.

And by the time Cavalier spoke again, he was Cavalier once more, and whatever had come over him a second ago was gone.

"No murdering here," he said to Counterstrike, while keeping his optics locked on Deathstrike. "Blastcap and I were having a disagreement about old times. Deathstrike saw fit to blow the wall down. Maybe his weapon malfunctioned, I don't know." If Deathstrike didn't want to take that way out, then he was free to explain why he had just opened fire inside the base in response to harsh language to Breakout.

"But if you all don't mind, Blastcap and I have a matter to conclude, in private. You boys can shout a while if it'll make you feel better first, but we've got a matter to conclude."

Deathstrike engaged his memory systems, linked them to his vocabulator, and played back what he had recently heard. Of course he wouldn't have been able to do that an hour ago, but Three-Bee's tune up had changed that.

"Why should you live?!" came through loud and clear, in Cavalier's distinctive tones. Followed by "This one here's complicit in the murder of twelve million sentient organics. You try to stop me from doing what I have to and I will put you down without a second thought."

"If you intend to lie, do a better job of it," said Deathstrike. "Perhaps you should ask Shimmer for lessons."

Cavalier said nothing for several seconds, and when he did, he smiled. "Okay then," he said. "Have it your way."

He turned away from Deathstrike for a moment, and walked over to the back wall, where fragments of the door were still embedded from the explosion of the fusion cannon. Reaching out, he grabbed one particluarly jagged fragment and tugged it free. Only then did he turn back and walk over to Deathstrike once more, turning the fragment over in his hand as he did so. He stopped in front of Deathstrike once more.

"You're under arrest."

He dropped the fragment on the floor.

"If there'd been an organic in here, or even an unarmored mechanical, they'd be dead. You had no way of knowing who was in here, and instead of opening the door, you chose to blow it up. That's reckless endangerment, unlawful discharge, and attempted murder. You want the law, Deathstrike? There it is. Have fun with it."

"You are mistaken Cavalier. You don't have the power to arrest or execute anyone out of hand any more. These fine Autobots pointing guns at us do. I am more than willing to account for all of my actions to Commander Breakout and unlike either of you, I don't intend to lie about it."

"And attempted murder? Without even a wound on you? I am Deathstrike. If I had attempted to kill you I would have put a blast through your turret ring while you were busy transforming. If you're going to make up charges, in the future make up ones that can be believed."

"You discharged a fusion cannon at me, Deathstrike," said Cavalier evenly. "Unless it's a display model, I believe that counts as a deadly weapon. And the fact that you're incompetent has no bearing on this case. And while you're right that I don't have the power to execute you out of hand, you'll find I do have the power to arrest you. You see, in the Decepticons, the fact that someone's holding a gun may give them rights, but here, we do things differently. I'm an Autobot in an Autobot facility, and even if I wasn't, I could put you under citizen's arrest. The meanest little organic could do that. And the fact that you don't think I could has nothing whatsoever to do with it."

"So, as I said, you're under arrest, Deathstrike." Cavalier smiled. "And you would make me the happiest bot on the station if you would tell me that you intend to resist it."

Shunt was less than impressed so far. "You know," He said, offhandedly, to no one in particular. "Breakout has my great respect. Most of the Autobots brave enough to face me back on Cybertron also had it." He takes a long intake of 'breath'. "But this? This is sad. I've seen better intrasquad relations from the Red Retard and his backup singers." A pause. "That's Starscream, by the way."

"You're in good shape for someone I supposedly shot with a fusion cannon. You're a bad liar, without even the sense to abandon a bad lie after it's failed." replied Deathstrike. "This might as well get settled here and now. Indulge your fantasy. Arrest me. Find out what Counterstrike and Longshot think of your authority."

"Oh please," replied Blastcap to Shunt. "If not for Deathstrike's unwanted interruption my discussion with Cavalier would be finished in friendly terms, or both of us would be dead. Either way, matter resolved in minutes. Remind me, how many millenia did Starscream spend trying harbouring resentment for Megatron and everyone else?"

"Too many, but I lacked authority to drop him from the sky for being a worthless traitor." Shunt replied casually to Blastcap. "I'm sure we weren't all brought to this world, to Breakout's fortress, to kill each other over grudges. Or are grudges more important than the ideaology of Optimus Prime to Autobots?" A grunt from the flyer. "I'm here to save some lives and kill Straxus. Those who are in, I'd suggest Cavalier and Blastcap here aren't models to emulate; Breakout is."

"I said shot at, not shot. Get your audio receptors checked before you call someone a liar, you stupid piece of engine waste. You discharged your fusion cannon at me when you heard me speaking, and blew a wall down with a shot that would have killed anything less armored than me. You just admitted to all of those things, so kiss my tailpipe and shut your Primus-damned speaker hole if you've got nothing better to do than call people liars."

He turned to Counterstrike, Longshot, and their attendant escorts.

"Will someone either get Breakout here or take this Decepticon away so that Blastcap and I can finish what we were discussing? It's something of a pressing matter."

It wasn't, of course, not strictly, but nobody else knew that.

"It's the ideology of Optimus Prime that led to this little... disagreement," said Cavalier to Shunt. "And I will let you know the next time I require a Decepticon to explain that distinction to me."

"Enough." Breakout announced. He did not shout or engage in pyrotechnics.

"I don't know what happened, but we will find out. All of you will disarm and will be debriefed by security. Counterstrike, you discuss with Cavalier, Longshot, you will take Blastcap. I will debrief Deathstrike." mainly because outside of 6 Autobots I can't trust anyone to treat Deathstrike fairly, went unspoken.

"Shellshock, you will be on standby, someone find Grindstone and bring him back here to aide Shellshock. No backtalk or you can spend some time in stasis lock that goes for all for you. Now move." Breakout continued as more security came trooping in, looking twitchy.

"As you wish Commander Breakout," Deathstrike replied. He flexed his right fingers, emphasizing the fact that he had disarmed earlier. "Good response time on your security teams, by the way. Shall we proceed?"

Breakout led Deathstrike off and Counterstrike approached Cavalier. Deathstrike was taken to a small office and given a seat.

"Just wanna talk Cavalier. Get your side of the story and shake things out. That's not a problem is it?" He asked putting the rifle across his back, the various other members of the security detail kept their weapons trained on Blastcap and Cavalier.

"Up and at them Blastcap, you got some explaining to do. You grizzled merc." Longshot said walking over to the mercenary.

"Blastcap and Cavalier have some old baggage," said Deathstrike. "Baggage with a body count. When I came passed the door Cavalier was screaming about killing her. Cavalier being Cavalier, I had very little time to act. I blew the door in and told them to stand down and wait for proper authorities. It served the dual purpose of giving Cavalier something to worry about besides killing Blastcap and that it would attract attention of someone whose authority Cavalier would respect."

"Neither were happy to see me. Cavalier transformed and drew down on me. Both told me to get lost and then lied to the security team when they arrived. I called them on it and they admitted it. Cavalier then decided his best approach was to manufacture charges and arrest me. Then you arrived. The latter part of the conversation can be confirmed by your 'bots."

"In my opinion whatever is between Cavalier and Blastcap needs to be settled. Under your terms. The survivors, however many there are, can join my team. I can handle them both and frankly I'll need every 'bot I can get. And what else are you going to do with them? Cavalier's already a loose cannon and you need every fighter you can get. Getting put under my authority is exactly the reminder he needs that he isn't Optimus and Ultra Magnus rolled into one."

Blastcap's visor opened, her face looked calm and serene, and her voice sounded the same, "Cavalier and myself met before, under trying circumstances. He did not remember, but I did, and if we were going to work together it had to be cleared up. Once I jogged his memory he got angry, I was expecting him to. Cavalier said some heated words, I won't pretend he didn't mean them, but I only gave him half of the story. He knew as much, and gave me a chance to finish explaining. I was about to do so when Deathstrike suddenly interrupted with his fusion cannon. That is all. If you would but leave us, the two of us can settle this in private."

In another situation, Cavalier might have exploded in laughter at the sight of Counterstrike advancing carefully towards him, speaking of how they "just wanted to talk". As it was, he found it hard to keep a straight face. He managed though.

"For Primus' sake, save it, Counterstrike, I'm not gonna shoot you," he said, walking over to the security bot with an annoyed scowl on his face. "Blastcap and I had a conversation about very unpleasant things that happened a long, long time ago. To hear her talk, she was complicit in the murder of twelve and a half million organic beings by a group of people I expunged from the galaxy for doing so."

He turned his head to Blastcap. "Apparently, I don't know the full story of what happened yet. She was about to tell me as much when Deathstrike decided to blow the wall in and start telling everyone what they were going to do because he's a Decepticon and his writ runs. I didn't agree. And irrespective of that, I'm still eager to hear what could possibly absolve someone of complicity in a crime that large. Because if that explanation isn't amazing, then we are going to have... serious problems."

He folded his arms and turned back to Counterstrike. "Now, you want me to tell you all that again somewhere else, lead the way. But I'm not tremendously inclined to explain myself further than that right now."

The noise of a fusion cannon going off was rather distinctive - certainly enough to warrant Farshot's attention.

"I'll return," he said to the others with a nod as he turned and moved to investigate who fired the fusion cannon, and why it was necessary.

Soon enough, he encountered the scene of Deathstrike confronting Cavalier, who looked as if they were having a discussion serious enough to warrant firearms.

With no noise, a fine grey mist began to spray innocuously into the air from ports on Farshot's forearms, appearing to dissipate after only a few centimeters. However, soon enough the sensor swarm did its work, thoroughly mapping the area, and thoroughly scanning the three Cybertronians currently involved.

Breakout's arrival, along with others meant to question Blastcap and Cavalier separately changed the situation, as had the arrival of the others, watching the scene.

However, Cavalier's protest to being led alone and questioned was vehement and snide; an interesting contrast to Blastcap's nearly peaceful countenance - especially amusing considering the readouts he was seeing for the fusion explosives the sensor-swarm had noted.

Farshot chose this moment to speak, turning to look directly at Cavalier as he crossed his arms. "I know not what troubles the two of you have, but you will both be watched," he said in a calm, evenly-cadenced tone.

(EDIT: removed adminishing Blastcap about her explosives)

The comment from Deathstrike about 'lying worse than Shimmer' brought raised eyebrows from the Fembot. "Considering he barely knows me, I don't know if that's an insult or not," Shimmer muttered, turning away and tapping Cutter and Farshot on the shoulders to get their attention.

"Let's go boys, Breakout's got it under control. We're just in the way." The blue-shaded Fembot starts waking back the way they came, fully expecting those not involved in the fallout to come with her. "Let's all just leave Breakout to it and go have a drink."

"Flyboy," said Cavalier in a voice that brooked no argument, "I would not recommend stepping into this right now. I've had just about as much interference in my affairs from people unacquainted with them as I am willing to tolerate today." Cavalier was good and pissed off, and not tremendously interested in who found out about it. Cutter had stood behind Shimmer, staying silent, letting everyone talk. He nodded at Shimmer's suggestion. The flier shook his head as they turned and headed away. All the posturing was ridiculous. They were all here to fight the GDE, and they could barely keep from fighting each other.

"Drink sounds good." Cutter said to shimmer.

Farshot simply shrugged once, though he kept his arms crossed. "We became involved once you chose to make the confrontation physical, since we're a team now, Cavalier." His optics dimmed slightly. "Blastcap said there's more to the story. Either hold off your reactions until you hear the rest, or accept that you're not strong enough right now to handle hearing it."

Cavalier stared at Farshot for a moment with an expression like disbelief.

"Take a look at this room," he said. "Look at the blast pattern on that wall, and the shrapnel buried in it. You've got sensors, scan the energy signatures. This was a fusion cannon did the business, one fired from outside a sealed room. I don't have a slagging fusion cannon."

"I didn't choose to make this one physical, Farshot. Deathstrike did. And I will be damned to the pits if I sit down and take the consequences of being shot at because that slagging sonofabitch doesn't know how to knock."
