He's a filthy deadbeat dad of a Turk (although your average Turk would rail him out of the nation on a rail) who is attempt to install a degenerate military dictatorship upon all of humanity. We could also examine his stance on religious and political freedom and from what I understand he's hostile to small business as well. There's also his tendency towards disarming the populace and abuses towards minority. He is most certainly a foreign power and a usurper seeking to overthrow the true Emperor of these United States and I am shocked! In fact most of those policies are entirely dependent upon the local government because the Imperium really doesn't give a shit about planetary level administrative details so long as they worship the Emperor and pay the tithe. Beyond that you could be running a liberal democracy, a parliamentary monarchy, a military junta, an aristocratic republic, a corrupt oligarchy, or even a communist dictatorship and it wouldn't matter. Also, considering that worshipping the Emperor gives him the metaphysical power necessary to do some serious shit to protect humanity, it seems pretty irresponsible to not do it when there are multiple evil gods actively trying to kill, torture, and enslave us all. We're in a state of permanent war and everyone's gotta do their part, that means worshipping the only god who is demonstrably helping.

Now he did tolerate the Tech Priest but frankly I would say that's because he had little choice. Additionally we're not talking about the Imperium, which is a vastly different beast, we're talking about the Emperor and his personal policies during the Great Crusades, here he openly gave no fucks about anyone else's rights expect his own.

Lastly, I know any Emperor worshipers in Phoenix. You know we got alot of? Mormons and Catholics. You know what we don't got? Demons, be they Hellish or Chaotic. The general 'you vs everybody else' feud happening in this thread. I realize this almost inevitably an oversimplification of the actual situation but since I have exactly nothing to gain from a more detailed evaluation why would I bother?

I assumed you were talking about the Imperium because we don't know much about the actual Emperor's policies since they didn't go much into the era when he was actually alive. Of course then they did over the last few years, so I guess my WH40k knowledge might be a bit out of date. Anyway, to be fair, the Chaos gods were kind of benefiting from a lot of religious fervour regardless of whether it was directed at them or not. The entire point of the Imperial Truth was to try and starve them of power, which is a worthy endeavour even if some rights got crushed in the way. Of course that didn't work out very well, but worshipping the Emperor instead of Chaos turned out to be a superior alternative, one that only wasn't implemented when he was alive because he didn't want to be worshipped. Still the entire plan was to usher a golden age of humanity where we would be the dominant species in the galaxy and we would all have super technology and not be bothered by fucking eldritch abominations from beyond, but it didn't really work out that way in the end. Mostly because said eldritch abominations can be frighteningly cunning, and while the Emperor might be the greatest genius ever known to man, he really wasn't as clever as he thought he was.

The demons don't become much of a problem until the Eye of Terror opens up in 25 000 years or so. We got plenty of time to worship however we like until then. After? Well Yaweh won't help you, and frankly most of the time neither will the Emperor, but as a member of the collective humanity you gotta sacrifice a bit of prayer time to keep the species going. Besides, as far as Emperorism is concerned, if your religion can in any way be contrived to seem like you're worshipping the Emperor, then you're worshipping the Emperor. All the Abrahamic religions would be fine. I think if I got a mallet out I could also hammer Hinduism into there too.

Well, yes all sorts of madmen promise an unending golden age for everyone. The thing is that the Emperor has been pulling the strings behind humanity for tens of thousands of years, and we did have an actual golden age thing going. It just wasn't Chaos proof, which proved to be a bit of a problem when the Eldar managed to hedonism the Chaos Goddess of Hedonism into existence and rip a hole in the very fabric of reality in the process. So Empy has actually succeeding at the golden age thing before as a point in his favour. Though given the Horus Heresy, one wonders whether revealing himself and taking direct charge was such a hot idea when he'd been doing so well as the man behind all thrones.
