SirNitram wrote:"Or a million tons of rock." Blackclaw commented. "Why be so complex? Nothing slows adventurers like a zone of null-magic with enough rock to never let you through with pickaxes."
Jernei looked to Blackclaw appreciatively. "Naaasty idea. I approve. And I thought your clan's idea with flooding that one passage was very well done."

"Hehe, I remember setting one up once. Back when I was a neophyte, in order to get out of a cave I had to defeat a Grey Render and his Medusa master... Now, my companion and I, a ranger named Derek couldnt do this, I was barely capable of casting fireball... So we dug a pitfall filled with caltrops, I used jars to capture small oozes off the walls, and placed it in the trap. I then cast grease spells in the trap. It worked, the medusa came in, fell in the trap and was consumed by the oozes when she couldnt get up...The Grey Render however we had to destroy the hard way"

"I think so. The other trap is to prevent Jumping or spider climbing. I dont have a Mass Fly spell prepared, and unfortunatly, this section is also protected by a dispelling screen." he said, loving his magesight

Jernei blinked at Vincent. "Throw you...?" she repeated, not quite sure she heard right. "Throw you across the trap?!"

"Yeah. We cant get through using spells due to the dispelling screen. At least not reliably. But there is nothing stopping a dragon from bodily throwing a Wizard, a Kobald, a Monk and an archer. How you will get across, May be able to find a control which takes out the dispelling screen, or take some time and get rid of it myself."

how about some kind of rope bridge.....get a rope from here to the other side, then just climb across. Its a little more compicated then your throwing plan, but allows for less people randomly chucked down a hall.

but i guess if you really want to we can throw the Koblod with the rope and he can find/be the ancore.

"You make such a nice one, too..." Jernei teased the Kobold, beofre turning serious once again. "So... the dispelling will stop any kind of Dimension Door or Teleport spell?"

"No the Dimensional Anchor spell on the area does that for us. And um, Caden, if you havent noticed, the walls are smooth, there is nothing to attach a rope too. It has been a while since I was made so well aware of the powers of an Elf's perception" he said, grinning like a mischievous child.

Once again, Jernei measured the hallway with her eyes, visualizing her wingspan, and frowning and muttering in Draconic. It was clear she didn't like it... and several people other than the Kobold were learning *interesting* new words.

"Didn't someone mention Immovable Rods..." Jernei asked. "The rope could tie to those, if we get it across..." Once again, she eyed the traps, thinking hard. "... because otherwise the best bet is just to set the damn things off and hope they dont' reset."

Tormenta dug into his pockets and began producing a huge variety of various objects. "I have 5 immovable rods, 200ft of silk rope, several 10ft poles, couple ladders, 60ft rope of climbing, and some assorted tools. I could probably build a bridge assuming i can first get accross.

Jernei's eyes widened at the contents of the monk's backpack. "My my... what luck. Tormenta... would you be so good as to set up one rod with one end of the rope tied around it here on this end. I'll take care of getting you across..."

Sea Elves shouldn't smile like that. It was far too draconic to show that many teeth at the internal thought of tossing the monk like a melon to the other side.

Tormenta smiled back then took two of the immovable rods and planted on near the ground as an anchor point tilted away from the traps then another up in the air where the rope would be suspended from. He then tied a round turn with two half hitches on the anchor point before bringing the line up to the suspension point where he tied a quick knot. When he finished building the anchor he put most of the gear he had back into his pockets before turning to Jernei, “readyâ€

the knots are better than most seasoned sailors have a chance at making them

Jernei smiled at the monk. "Are you sure you're ready...?" she asked, stepping up beside him. She was a head shorter than the human in this form, technically there was no way she would be able to throw him that far.

Which is one reason why it was shocking she could pick him up so easily, whirling in place to toss him down the hallway like a parent tossing a child.

At the same time she was throwing him, VIncent finished an incantation. The moment she tossed him he reduced in size significantly, allowing her to throw him down the hallway until he hit the dispelling screen, where the magics were nullified. However, he still had enough momentum to just barely cover the distance, landing safely on the other side.

Jernei threw a look to Vincent. "You could have done that *Before* I picked him up, you know..." she griped, before looking down the hallway. "Yell when you have the rope secured to the other rods, Tormenta."

(hehehe, yeah.. trap mazes while they may be great for In PERSON games dont translate to well to a forum game it seems)

After navigating through a maze, and several more traps you find yourself at a massive vaulted door roughly 50 feet high and comprised of stone carbed with magical gyphs of warding. A small door handle at the standard height allows you to open it. There is no inscription which is legible..

Jernei is not a happy dragon, as the last trap singed her tail a little. She looks over the warded door warily. "Great... what does *this* trap do..." she snarled. She'd been particulary vocal in her dislike of traps when it seemed the damned hallway would go on forever.
