#1 That one lyric

For all the songs I love, there's almost inevitably a lyric somewhere that resonates with me. Even if I don't care for the rest of the song, there's some sentiment in there that reaches me.
Bush (the band, people, the band) is the king of the one-good-lyrical bit songs, for me. (Because they're pretty obviously stoned to the point of incoherence in their lyrics, and a lot of them are pretty ridiculous.)
Bush, 40 Miles from the Sun
Bush wrote:As darkness craves the mind
We come undone without our pride
No time on the earth to come
All the pleasure's just begun
40 miles from the sun
So, rather than posting whole lyrics here, how about that one piece that really reaches in and inspires you?

It's in our nature to kill ourselves
It's in our nature to kill each other
I wouldn't say I was inspired by these... I just see a whole lot of truth in them.

Few years ago I was a happy, crazy, and twisted party animal, so this
was my piece of lyrics.
The Prodigy - Firestarter wrote:I'm a firestarter, twisted firestarter.
Now... I'm not sure anymore. Probably this one:
Evanescence - Tourniquet wrote:i lay dying
and i'm pouring crimson regret and betrayal
i'm dying, praying, bleeding and screaming
am i too lost to be saved
am i too lost?
Ironically, the woman who's responsible for all of my sufferings actually played this one song (when we were still together), specifically aimed to my brooding attitude:
Madonna - Frozen wrote:You waste your time with hate and regret
You're frozen when your heart's not open

Here's the last toast of the evening, here's to those who still believe
All the losers will be winners, all the givers shall receive
Here's to trouble-free tomorrows, may your sorrows all be small
Here's to the losers, bless them all
*grins* need i say more?
Frank Sinatra : Here's to the Losers

I find it kind of sad
The dreams in which I'm dying
Are the best I ever had.

Little Steven and the Disciples of the Soul wrote:Even if it's all over, don't ever say it was all in vain.
And don't me everything thing we believed has been washed away, because I know it still remains.
Yeah I know it still remains, because I'm still the same, and there ain't nothin' gonna change my mind.
Because I spent my whole life just trying to find something I know I really can't define...

Woke this morning Got myself a gun.
Mamma always said I'd be the chosen one
1 in a million I believe I'm gonna burn to shine
I was born under a bad sign with a blue moon in my eyes
Woke up this morning, modified.

I wanna go left but they tell me go right
Don’t wanna be the little girl they kissin’ goodnight
The moral of the story is I got no choice
I must not chase the boys

On waiting for you to see how much
You threw away
When time meant everything
Your promise fell apart
And I stood here without a way

Joni Mitchell - Both Sides Now wrote:Moons and junes and ferris wheels
The dizzy dancing way you feel
As ev’ry fairy tale comes real
I’ve looked at love that way
But now it’s just another show
You leave ’em laughing when you go
And if you care, don’t let them know
Don’t give yourself away

It doesn’t end here when you’re gone

It never ends and if I’m right
Our love can even reach across eternity
I believe, I believe

Tom Petty: Lets Get To The Point? (I think)
So lets get to the point,
Lets roll another joint,
I'm to alone, to be proud
Turn the music up loud,
And you don't know how it feels...[/quote]

"Oh my love, its time
You know how it feels
You read between the lines,
and knew me better than I do
I lost again, my friend
You know Im not a saint
Youve known it all this time
Still youve been waiting for me here."
Kathy's Song, Apoptygma Berzerk

"Sometimes I sleep,
Sometimes it's not for days.
The people I meet,
Always go their separate ways.
Sometimes you tell days,
By the bottles that you drink.
Sometimes when you're alone,
All you do is think."
Bon Jovi, Dead or Alive.

I am a world before I am a man.
I was a creature before I could stand.
I will remember before I forget
Before I forget that!
Before I forget Slipknot. Only slipknot song I've liked so far really.

It's not a song, but the music that plays when Maximus finally dies and joins his family in Elysium, it gets me everytime.

Wow!!!

I had that song stuck in my head the last two nights while I was trying to sleep. Thing is, I can't remember hearing it lately at all :scratch :scratch
EDIT: That's hilarious, I had no idea my husband was posting in the same thread at the same time I was and our avatars look so wicked together

"On his shoulder, ravens,
His face like stone engraven.
Astride a six-foot Stygian beast,
He gathers the fruit of gallows trees.
Driving legions to victory,
The bringer of war walks tonight.
No mortal dare meet the glare of the eye of the Stormbringer.
He is the lightning-slinger
Glory singer
The gallows reaper."
Heather Alexander, Stormbringer.

"Up the backless staircase,
to the dark ahead
This is the loft of my place,
with memories long dead
Oh, but yesterday I heard it,
with it's haunting mournful cry,
I don't know how I'll word it,
but I'll look it in the eye"
Heather Alexander, Up in the Loft.
