Oh My God It Was Awesome.

But it is midnight and I have to be up before 7 to get to wrok and need my sleep. I shall elaborate later. Some quick thoughts:

Clouds on tatooine - clouds are water!
Mace vs Yoda - Mace might have beat Palpy
Anakin's fall seemed rushed
FUCKING AWESOME FIGHTS
Vader's entry - the breathing was perfect

More after I sleep, if I can sleep after watching that! Amazing film.

Clouds on Tatooine:
Yeah, Thus why there are probably moisture farmers, they harvest the moisture from the atmosphere, or so I figure.

If it wouldn't have been for Anakin's interference, I do beleive Mace had beaten Palpatine. I still think they should have taken mace out in a better way, Lucas completely screwed the pooch in that scene, making it highly anticlimatic.

Anakin's fall was way to rushed, there was no timelapse between him killing Windu, and suddenly becoming pure evil. It was again, anticlimatic to the leadup.

Yes, the fightscenes were indeed pretty badassed, and Vader's entry was excellent.

and Vader's entry was excellent.
Except for the whole fact he was on the verge of blowing stuff up at the news of Padmes "Death" or even lasahing out at the Emperor himself but instead he yelled out pathetically NOOOOOOOOOOOO! not as a dark lord to be feared but as a pussy-whipped girl! (No offense to women out there it's an expression!).

Darth Vader is not scary anymore.

His a pussy.

Bah! And George almost had it...almost... :chain:

Okey, on the No, god I HATE the people who say 'Oh hes a pussy"

So he wasn't a pussy? He wasn't a former teenaged boy in love crying out realising he lost his wife? Of course not! He's Darth Vader who is all evil! Jesus H Christ Fellating buddha, this is the same guy who killed himself for his son.

Agreed. I don't see why crying "NOOOOOO!" made Vader somehow look weak. He's still head, shoulders, and waist above the lovesick and angsty AotC Anakin.

BTW, RotS kicked ASS. It's second only to the LotR trilogy and possibly ESB in my book. Yes, I loved it that much. Even more so than ST II and VI, and THAT is saying a lot.

It's not so much that he screamed it out, just the fact that he SOUNDED like a pussy when he did. There are ways to scream out "No" that make you still sound badass (Keith David does it amazingly well). They didn't achieve that effect in Ep3, as far as I'm concerned, and the scream was weak.

He sounded like an autistic kid.

Yes, when finding out your loved one was seemingly killed at your unwitting hand, a person is deeply concerned with sounding evil and tough when expressing their grief.

Yes Rob, because when I said badass, I meant evil. Oh, wait, no I didn't.

He went over to the dark side. ANGER. FEAR. HATE. RAGE. His scream lacked these things. It was the shout of a man who is going to cry about it for a few hours, not burn worlds to deal with the pain.

Even if it was all pain, the voice did not EMOTE that pain appropriately. Hell, the voice hardly had any emotion at all. It was just someone going "Naaaaaaah".

Just thought of something else:

ANH: "It is your your father's lightsabre...... he wanted you to have it when you were old enough."

But, at the end of RotS, I failed to see Obi actually retreive Anakin's weapon! He simply walked away, and presumbaly when Palps came along, he took the weapon making it impossible for Obi to later ocme back and get it.

Is there an explaination for this that I might have missed?

Actually, he does Adam. You'll notice just as he walks up the hill, before turning to Anakin and pouring out his anguish.

And Anakin sounding like he's "going to cry about it for a few hours" is wrong...how again? Since when has it been established Dark Side users lack emotion or feelings? Hell, we saw him crying after he killed the Seperatist leaders, but being upset about the death of his wife isn't a reason to get emotional?

Keeping in mind his voice is altered by his mechanical breather, who are you to determine what consitutes "emotional enough" articulation? Some people don't express their grief verbally at all, never mind at different degrees or ways.

It seems as if I must watch the movie again. But that settles that.

You'll note I said it in a derogatory way. There's a reason for this, namely that the overall emotion was weak. Allow me to be more clear: I was not led to believe by this performance that he was feeling anything near what he should, given that not only did he suffer extreme injuries all over his body, left to die by his former master and best friend, and was accidentally responsible for killing his wife.

The fact that I didn't believe he was screaming out in agony over the loss of the love of his life? Holy shit, I didn't realize I needed a degree in this. Even with the mechanical breather, Vader has still been able to convey emotions through his voice. ESB and ROTJ showcase this perfectly in his interactions with Luke.

If you want further examples of strong emotions being portrayed even through voice manipulation, just look at The Mask, where Dorien is torn between wanting to kill his ex-girlfriend for betraying him, and wanting one last kiss. Yes, it was largely a comedy, but even THERE emotion was able to translate through extreme voice manipulation.

James Earl Jones is a very talented actor, I know he could have made me believe Vader was hurting inside. The only thing I can think of that caused this was that Lucas was fucking around and chose the wrong take, and mixed in too much of Woody McWooderson to kill all emotion.

Let's face it, Luke was more emotive in the OT than Anakin was in the PT, and that's saying something, because early on Mark Hamil was not that good of an actor. Still, compare the final moments of the fight in ESB with just about any moment of extreme stress with Anakin. Who do you believe is more scared/hurt/frightened of the two, just by the reactions of the actors?
