... and all through the house,
three critters were stirring, but not Nit, lazy louse.

The presents were stacked on the table with care
Except for the one delayed by Postal Air.

Nitram was snuggled up with the cat in the bed
Both slept to sound to even move their head

Yet I was awake, for there were chores I knew
I had left them for days, now I had them to do

First the dishes, which were slimy with food
Next came a moment for a cuppa tea quite good.

The sidewalk needed cleared of the snow that stuck
I shoveled and cursed, and then cried WTF.

On to the laundry, a full load of four
OMG! Why's the sink leaking on the floor?

A plunger I grabbed, to unplug the drain
Yet it did no good, however I strained.

I sprang for the phone, to maintenance call
I got his answering machine, and that was all.

A message I left, to plead and to cry
And hung up with the hopes he soon would be by

So now I sit, sipping my cup of tea
I can only await the next calamity.

A variation on the old saying that I think is quite true is "necessity is the mother of invention, and irritation its father."

Well done, and may you have many more chances to enjoy tea without having to worry overmuch about the Next Thing Going Wrong.
