A high-speed train set a new record during a trial run, hitting 302 miles an hour, on the Beijing-Shanghai line last Friday. The record – established by a 16-car bullet train designed and built by CSR Qingdao Sifang Locomotive and Rolling Stock Co. Ltd – surpassed the previous record, set three months ago, by a train on the Shanghai-Hangzhou line, which reached a speed of 259 miles an hour.
