#1 The Truth about Ruth Malhotra

Really, I was supposed to do this last week, but I forgot. The Onion oddly enough reminded me of it.
You may have heard about Ruth Malhotra, who is suing Georgia Tech for a proported right to hate speech against homosexuals on campus. She claims that she's being so terribly oppressed, and once also sued the school over a professor who supposedly failed her because of the professor's liberal bias. David Horowitz tries to paint her as a noble campaigner for the rights of the oppressed conservatives on campus.
Well, we members of the Georgia Tech band have sources other than the mainstream media, such as people who live with her in her sorority, members of the College Republicans on campus (she chairs it, and they all hate her, but I'll get to that in a moment), people who have been in classes with her, and, well, you'll understand in a moment.
To be blunt, she's not some noble campaigner, but a jr. politician being groomed to be a career politician or the next Ann Coulter. This is her third or fourth frivolous lawsuit against Georgia Tech (it's also against several deans and G. Wizzle - G. Wayne Clough, the president of GT, and don't ask about that nickname - directly as people.) The College Republicans hate her because she has no scruples. I may not agree with them, but most of them are decent people who'll play by the rules and not try to pick fights. Ruth, however...
Let's start with that professor she supposedly got fired. She claimed that she had failed because she told the professor that she was going to a conservative conference. People who took the class with her (including some who are more conservative than she is) said, however, that the professor, while personal liberal, was very fair in class. She just demanded this little thing called "evidence" in class debates. Ruth was always trying to stir up trouble instead of debating, always harassed the professor, and never even pretended to back up her assertions and her claims. That's why she failed, and then instead of complaining to any of the deans or the Tech administration, she took it directly to the Georgia House of Representatives. When it actually did end up in court, the judge threw it out, calling it a frivolous lawsuit.
And the professor, far from being fired and banned from teaching, is still teaching public policy at Georgia Tech. Two years after she was supposedly defeated by Ruth's amazing powers, the bass player in the marching band took her class and enjoyed it thoroughly.
She tried to use as evidence of the professor's evil liberal bias the fact that she was a straight-A student in her major. To that I say, she's a International Affairs major. All of us here know that it's one of the campus fake majors.
I believe she also tried to sue when her copycat Affirmative Action Bake Sale went horribly wrong. It was hard to get details because the people who were in on it are still kinda embarrassed by it.
Her legal fees are paid for by this Christian legal firm that handles national cases like this. It doesn't matter that she loses all of them, because they only need the attention from one win, however minor. Even so, she's also demanding attorney fees and demages from the "irreparable psychological damage" she supposedly received from not being able to constantly harass homosexuals on campus, including in their dorms.
Look, we've had people on campus waving signs that read "Homo sex is sin!" who weren't escorted out. I saw them. They weren't thrown out. People have stood at the fountain and preached that women shouldn't be allowed out of the house. No escorting out, no silencing, no "irreparable psychological damage." If she actually feels threatened on campus (which I sincerely doubt - it's not like anybody has time to do anything to her even if they were inclined to do anything) it's because we all know the truth about her. The campus is big and has a lot of people, but the people who make a lot of noise get known in a hurry (one of these days, I'll have to tell you about how fast everybody picked up on 'band tag' and how they all know not to sit at 'the band table' on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays).
I might also mention at this point that Georgia Tech is a public institution. Yeah, we're not a private school. We have to follow all those state regulations and federal regulations and everything that's attached to the money, and so we need to be fair to everybody. She might have thought about that before coming here if she really feels so strongly about it.
