#1 Starting a message board

I'd like to start a message board for the AHA (see my sig), and I'd like some technical advice for it. Can anybody here help me out, and where could I find some good resources for starting and maintaining one?
Don't worry; I'm not trying to steal your thunder. I just want to do something nice for the folks I work for.

Best suggestion? Hold off until the end of the month for when Project Librium goes live.
And get an experimental board to play with in the meantime so you can learn the settings and operation.

Forgive my ignorance, but what's Project Librium?
I don't know if I have time to wait. My internship ends August 5th, and I'd like to have something set up or in the process of being set up by then.

Project Librium is another name for Project Arcana
It's the Triumviate's plot to turn you all into our unwitting and total zombie slav...erm... I've said to much.
-holds up neurolizer, and puts on raybans-
Please look into the flashing red light, thank you.
Honestly, it's a project we the Triumviate have going to solidify the board's place in the gaming community as a decent place. We will be offering online gaming via the actual frontpage of the site, along with ad free boards, and perhaps a few other things...
We will be moving to faster, more powerful servers, and may even be willing to offer some benefits to our userbase, and certain ones we take a shining to, some extra's (I beleive Josh, for example, was offering to host the AHA boards on your servers).

Thanks for the offer. The AHA doesn't like the idea of hosting the boards on a different server, but they are interested in...don't tell them I said this, but they want to do something online that doesn't suck like their current pseudo board. And it really sucks.
I'll keep you posted on my progress or possible lack thereof.
