New system specs:

1 GIG 2700 DDR RAM
Radeon 9800 Pro 128 MB DDR
250 GIG Harddrive
16x Dual layered DVD drive
5.1 Speaker system

Your prior rig's HDD capacity is somehow vastly out of proportion with the rest of the system.

Agreed, hence the badly needed upgrade. It was a priority honestly.

So it turns out I need to upgrade my motherboard now, as it does not support 48 bit processing, which is critical for the new 250 gig harddrive, otherwise it's unreliable. Damnit...gonna do that ASAP now. But what a pissoff.

You might check out MSI boards for cheap ones that are fairly good.
