#1 Kickstarter for V20: The Clanbook

One clanbook, all the clans! Check it out, they even have a free manuscript:
In all honesty i never liked the Masquerade Clanbooks. For some reason i just couldn't arse myself to give a damn about them. It was Requiem that sold me on the idea because its Clanbooks are unexpectedly rather amazing. The five of them are dossiers on each clan written in-character at the behest of a mysterious figure, and together they form a complex interlocking story with a cast of very interesting characters, but the links are subtle and indirect so that you have read really carefully to see and unravel the threads tying it all together. It's an excellent combination of the narrative and toolbox approaches to setting building. So individually they are great, especially the Mekhet one, but collectively they are simply magnificent. But i digress, the point is that this Masquerade Clanbook, the Clanbook as it were, actually looks pretty neat, which is why i'm posting about it here.
"There’s no instruction manual for being dead."
"Vampires have a common oral tradition, as sires teach their childer through lecture, deed, brute strength, or throwing them into the darkness and hoping for the best. Some vampires smother their instruction in religious imperatives or philosophical tenets, while others focus on more pragmatic matters. But not one of them has clear, easy answers on what it means to be a member of one of the thirteen Clans that dominate the night."
"There isn’t an instructional manual for being dead, but this is damn close."
"This is immortality. This is power. No one could ever give you more."
V20 Lore of the Clans is a new book for Vampire: The Masquerade 20th Anniversary Edition that digs deeper into each of the vampire Clans, from the first whispers of tension within the Assamites all the way to the Ventrue’s ancient conspiracies.
"Regardless, don’t plan on having a coherent conversation with anyone over seven hundred years old. Don’t try to get something out of them, and definitely don’t try to play them."
A number of talented writers including Alan Alexander, Joshua Doetsch, Andrew Peregrine, Ree Soesbee, Rob Wieland, Eddy Webb, and Christopher Wilde, have labored many a night to blend the previous interpretations of the Clans, with modern ideas of what these vampires hunger for. Told primarily through in-voice narration, these thirteen chapters touch on the lore, history, and nightly practices of the Kindred.
"I am nothing but another illusion. I have not been real for years."
There are also new combo Disciplines, Merits and Flaws, and other mechanics to enhance your character, both converted from classic Masquerade material and created brand new for this book.
"We weren’t really freeing the childer of our enemies. We were just enslaving them to different masters."
But don't take our word for it. Here's a link to 99% of the complete manuscript, before Layout, for everyone to check out:
And once you've read through the text, please feel free to comment here and let us know what you think of the book. Maybe your ideas will be the basis of a new Stretch Goal that adds new projects as rewards.
"The first of the Lasombra was Caine. Yes, that Caine. You think it arrogant we trace our lineage to the first of us? How can you doubt it?"
V20 Lore of the Clans is slated to come out in digital and print-on-demand versions, but this Kickstarter is for a luxurious, deluxe edition of the book featuring a wraparound embossed cover featuring the iconic V20 Clan illustrations by Tim Bradstreet, a silk bookmark, and full color interior estimated at 280+ pages.
Proposed cover mock-up, not final.
But we won’t stop there. We'll be offering stretch goals that can expand the book beyond its original design, enhance it in different ways, or produce additional products that give new context to the material in V20 Lore of the Clans. There will be new opportunities with the Reward Tiers and Achievements for backers to make their mark on the book, this Kickstarter, and on Onyx Path itself, continuing a tradition of open development and coordination with our community that we value and appreciate.
So if you’ve always wanted a gorgeous book that has all of the lies and secrets of the Clans in one place, this is the Kickstarter for you.
