The bigger they are, the better they are....

Or, how much HP do you have? and is it already filled up in one go with what you currently have?

I think a tiny house is a one time usable item, while a cottage is a permanent structure on your campsite.

There's nothing better than the cottage to put in the campsite, right?

You get a house at the end of the Strange Leaflet quest. Then there's the Pagoda Quest, which you can get information on at Coldfront.

The Pagoda doubles the HP/MP gain of whatever you have currently set up (for me a jump from 30 to 60) and you get +3 adventures every roll over.

They have different purposes. Tiny houses are one-time items that refill your HP and MP. A cottage is a permant addition to your campsite that can refill your HP and MP at the cost of one adventure. I would try to have both, especially if you do not have a dwelling. The cottage is the second best house-type item.
