I honestly don't get what was so terrible about it. Yeah, I understand B4's points. (Did you read it?) But really, when it all boiled down to it, I read it for different reasons. I caught things in the series that I doubt B4 did, probably a little of the same things all those tween/teen girls went ga-ga for (though not the wish fullfillment part of the plain jane recieving the attention of the beautiful guy B4 mentioned). And I don't think that's a bad thing. To each his/her own. All-in-all though, when I read it, I really didn't dwell much on the sparkly, beautiful aspect. I guess my attention for detail went a little deeper into the character's relationships with each other.

Jeeze. I'm not going to rant about this again. I already unloaded on DS. I just think that it was a good series for what it was intended for: young adult/teen female demographic.

There is a really good chance that I am seriously fucked up. But don't worry....I like me that way.

Do you mean "good series" as "well written" or "highly appealing"? Because the former is entirely out of the question, while the later is more applicable.
Never shall innocent blood be shed, yet the blood of the wicked shall flow like a river.

The three shall spread their blackened wings and be the vengeful striking hammer of god.

It was actually kind of funny at the bookstore where I worked a few months back during the lead up to the release of Breaking Dawn. All of the girls in the store tending to have gushing praise over the book, and the guys who had read it just rolled their eyes.

Also, sparkling vampires probably brings us one step closer to the day when pre-teen girls will hang posters of airbrushed vampires next to their posters of airbrushed unicorns. Followed shortly after that by airbrushed vampires riding unicorns. You know its coming.

The sad part? I'd be with the guys, rolling my eyes. Yes, Devonie, I know you want me to read it. I picked it up in BooksAMillion, looked it over, read a couple pages, and put it back.

Despite the unicorns in every corner of the house, I'm not going to read this book

Personally, I think you're all full of SHIT. I read Twilight in 3 1/2 hours and LOVED it. I'm waiting for the rest of them to come in (my library didn't have them).

I read for the escapism. I loved the tension between Bella and Edward.

Of course, this comes from the woman who couldn't get through LoTR. Too boring.

You're welcome to your opinions, but don't bash those of us who like the books because you're so stuck in the technical world to enjoy a little fantasy.

Oh. and Don't Flame Me. I won't answer.

Laurell K. Hamilton's Anita Blake series is now classified as full of shit as well and pretty terrible in its own right. I still read it though. I know it's shit, but it amuses me. Doesn't make it any less of a horribly written series, it just makes it a horribly written series that I read. Just because you loved it and think we're full of shit, doesn't change the basic facts stated.

Oh, I enjoy a little fantasy every now and then myself. I just prefer it to be by an author who can write a consistant track of time and not have to fill half her pages with descriptives to get her page count up. Or, you know, at least consistant descriptives of the characters. Because kissing a stone statue, no matter how attractive said hunk of rock may be, just doesn't strike me as possessing the lips of an angel, soft and full. But hey, what do I know, I've never kissed a statue before.

*shrugs* Your choice. We're simply stating our side for why the series is so bad, not flaming you personally.

Urge to kill... rising!
Gaze upon my works, ye mighty, and despair...

Hotfoot: "Yes, which is reasonable."

Romance novels are exceedingly confusing- the hu-mon emotion known as "love" is highly inefficient.

A system of matches made by a quantum supercomputer would be much more effective.

In all seriousness though, the only movie that I'm excited to see is Quantum of Solace. No angsty teenage vampires, just awesomeness.

"Wikipedia is mankind's greatest invention. You can learn about anything. We all know Ray J. We all know he's a singer. He's Brandy's brother. And he was in that classic sex tape with Kim Kardashian. But, did you also know he's Snoop Dogg's cousin AND he was in the 1996 Tim Burton movie Mars Attacks? Suddenly, you're on the Mars Attacks page!'"
