I don't mean to sound rude, but what's your point? Voldemort is still KAN's favorite mage, regardless of his power or lack thereof.

For some people, if you can't wank it, they won't like it. Pathetically immature and indicative of many psychological issues, but hey. It's generated comic wankers, Rabid Fivers, and of course, the Trekkie Menace.

My personal favorite mages are hard to call. Ridcully The Brown is a hilarious mage and wildly out of the norm. Ponder Stibbons is a great guy who needs to be taken seriously more often.
Half-Damned, All Hero.

Tev: You're happy. You're Plotting. You're Evil.
Me: Evil is so inappropriate. I'm ruthless.
Tev: You're turning me on.

Nitram, you poor misguided soul. You forgot Windle Poons, the Zombie Mage!

Oh, and lest we forget Gandalf: "Throw yourself in next time to spare us of your stupidity."
the mages in harry potter would be owned by any mage not needing a wand or have limited attack spells.
Ali Sama. Just because they're freaking WANKED or the most powerful doesn't mean that they instantly have to gain favouritism among EVERYONE. You also ignored the entire point of the thread and tried to turn it into a "Voldemort Sucks Donkey Balls" routine. Now state your choice, whether it's for their power or their character.

Adding The Lady.

no. I love the books and the movies. It is speed of caster and dependency on an artifact.
Mages who can do magic without dependencies are in an advantage over them.
Examples woudl be mages from sabrina, beweitched, death gate, darksword, sword of truth, somedays dreamers, slayers, bastard, battlechasers, etc.
they can be more powerfull or not. It is a matter of who is faster.
One of the classes in sword of truth(forot the name), as soon as any mage casts any spell on her, the mage is their slave. Really cool characters.
lol.
they woudl be scary in the potter verse.

This isn't a versus, this is who do you like best. As frigid said, settle down and talk about your favorites and why you like them.

Not to turn this into a versus, but pointing a stick at someone and saying: "Avada Kedvara!" isn't really a slow ability.
Mages who can do magic without dependencies are in an advantage over them.
It would help if this was a versus battle. But it isn't.

However, the dependencies are outweighed in some cases by the potency of the spells. And I'm pretty sure Professor Quirrel was very much capable of casting a killing curse without a wand (at the end of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, the first book, I'll have to check but I'm pretty positive that his wand-arm had been burnt into ash so he was using only his off-hand to empower the spell).
they can be more powerfull or not. It is a matter of who is faster.
Not really.
One of the classes in sword of truth(forot the name), as soon as any mage casts any spell on her, the mage is their slave. Really cool characters.

Imperius Curse. One word and a wand-wave. Same effect without needing someone to cast a spell on you.
they woudl be scary in the potter verse.
Of course. But the example above doesn't really 100% apply to other universes. You see, magic doesn't always work the same way across the various universes, such as Harry Potter Magic requires wands, and D&D Magic manipulates the weave.
i wasn't bashing the big V. I need to finish book 7, am stuck in the middle.
You mean Book 6... Book 7 is the Final Book, but hasn't been written yet.

But the dolphins had always believed that they were far more intelligent than man for precisely the same reasons
