Tev. I will tell you this much. In the Vampire game I was in that Cat ran awhile back, I don't think a single plan of mine actually worked. I think every last one of them failed to work out as planned and so I had to work with that.

This is your first try at it, there are bound to be a few missteps, just keep in mind that you are currently acting as the "little fish" compared to him. He might be a puppet, but he's still the seneschal and politics are a part of job. You'll get the hang of it.

Tev, you didn't fuck up. Some vampire scored a minor social point off you. Big fucking deal. It's nothing. I have been used and manipulated in real ways with very nasty consequences. Most of the time, at the end, I ended up on top.

An immortal doesn't lose from someone scoring social points off her. He doesn't lose when she's used, abused, tricked, and deceived. She loses when it's over and if she fails and makes mistakes and is dragged through hell, she's still the winner if in the end all her enemies perish.

I am actually trying to play the 'little fish' and swim in the shadow of the larger. Thus the offer to aid him, and the refusal to put a 'price' on her actions -- she needs him more than he needs her.

He forgot to change his actual stats to account for his extra freebies from flaws. He is still either one or three short though I believe.

Dammit!

Well, I suppose it's better to under-spend than over-spend, but still. I should have it sorted out by tonight - my thanks to you both.

EDIT: Now all the points and entries should be sorted out. Flesh of the Corpse is now gone, and all 27 points have been spent.

So wanted to answer Olaf thus: "At this time of night?! Can't it wait for morning?"

But, not playing a malk... can't really get away with that, etc and so forth.

No, this will not teach me to wear my armor everywhere. I might keep my sword closer to hand if we are going to be fighting a lot, but I will be a Proper Lady of Byzantium when in public.

You don't need to wear your armour everywhere anyway. If you own a hauberk, you can send your servants to fetch it. If you're so far away from home that's not practical, your servants should have it for you in baggage.

Luckily I'm close to home and I have a chainmail shirt (lorica squamas) there, which I know was still used by the Byzantines. I'm trying to recall what length of sword the Eastern Empire prefered, though. I think it was longer than the gladius, more of a slashing than thrusting sword.

He is trained in combat... granted he will probably be using a longbow, and using Domination to turn enemies against their friends. But combat vampire he is not...

Gladius was for heavy infantry in close quarters combat. They're too short for effective use by cavalry, but that doesn't mean that your character doesn't use it.

The Byzantines used long straight swords like the broadswords and arming swords of that period as well as shorter curved swords. Curved-sabre like blades were also in use in that region as well, although possibly only by foreign mercenaries.

Xiphos is a generic term for swords and spatheon for arming sword (blade from 30-36inches plus hilt)equivalents.

I'm sure the internet could have helped you with that as well, but I notice you don't exactly hate the web.

See what I'm doing right now? The thing I've already had my character point out is a bad move in his interior monologue? It's a bad move. Good RP, crappy politics. And it could get me killed. It will, however, be fun.

There Tev, the pressure is off. It'll be hard to misstep as badly as I just did.

It could get you killed, but you, like the Gangrel, are a warrior. He would respect your opinion far more than if it was Lydia speaking.

I am of course only assuming the 6th Tradition hampered the Vampires at Constantinople. Far too many mortals about to reveal ourselves in full defense of the city. I am betting a lot of the night-time harrassment tactics were actually vampires trying to break the army's morale, but it wasn't enough.

Julian playing Tzimisce. Check.

Julian thrown against marble pillars. Check.

Julian having ribs broken. Check.

Attacking vampire more physically powerful. Check.

Reason for attack: Julian being right. Check.

Julian survives to end of campaign, attacker does not. Pending.

History does seem to repeat itself . . . .

I would say that's because Julian's manner of play rarely changes, myself

I am smart enough not to get TOO close to a trained warhorse.
