Okay, play thread is up. Nothing exciting is happening now, just run your introductions to the guards and town officials, and once everyone is ready the main action will begin. Nitram and Tevar, I'll send you some mission information in the morning that will let you know what you are officially doing in Ashvale, but for the moment I need to get to bed.

There are two gates, one near the river and the small docks, and another at the high end of the town that connects to the road and the plains. These correspond to whether you arrive by boat or by foot.

Oh yeah, and play nice and have fun!

I assumed it was drizzling lightly - hope this wasn't a bad assumption, given the area.

A light drizzle is okay, adding in inconsequential details that I fail to give is okay, just so long as you remember that sometimes I'm intentionally not giving details. But for rain in a starting scene, I'll run with it. Response is now up. Any questions so far?

I'll be gone through to tomorrow morning, so don't expect further posts today.

Only in regards to approaching the town hall. Do the floors and steps look sturdy enough for Eight? Is there anyone walking to meet us, or do we just walk inside?

I'll get back to you in about four hours, but for the townhall there will be guards posted outside who can direct you to a magistrate who will look over your ID and log you in.

But for now, off to class!

Then I suppose the question must be asked - what's on the forms Fehl's signing?

Essentially its just a register. You show some form of identification (a guild badge, a letter, that sort of thing) and then put your name and association on your line, with the clerk noting any pertinent details about you, usually just the sort of weapons you're carrying, but in Fehl's case Eight's presence would be noted as well. The purpose of this is mostly so that if you cause trouble your organization can be notified and if necessary asked to take care of it. It also allows the town to know who exactly is in their community who might cause trouble on a scale more problematic than say a drunk brawl. Finally, if you get killed, it allows your next to kin to have some chance of finding out about it.

Fehl should recognize these sorts of things as a wanderer and shouldn't see anything particularly out of place. Maybe the order of name/organization/reason for visit is different from the last town, which was different from the one before that, etc but the basic layout is the same.

Tiny edit to my character. I didn't think 6'7" was quite towering enough. Lemme know if I bumped it too high or if I should knock it back down.

7'1" looks kay although it is a bit tall. Just no more since you're edging towards the Large size category (which kicks in around 8-9'). You will have to tuck your head a lot though since most humans aren't taller than 6'.

I encourage you to make something up for the menu and let your imagination run wild, although remember that everything is pretty cheap there, so nothing is going to be above say 2gp (or 20sp as that's how a regular tavern is likely to track such things), and even then you're probably going to be ripped off if you get anything over 5sp.

Have fun.

Man, I'm really hoping you knew what I was talking about before, but either way this is going to be hilarious. While your comment about 'having fun with this' makes me think you knew what I was talking about, this has the implcations of truly epic levels of unintentional hilarity.

EDIT: Incidentally, Nitram, Tevar, don't miss out on the hilarity, post in the game thread if you're able!

...oh gods, I just realized as well that Volemack might very well not get what the barkeep is talking about as a wyrmling, leading to... yeah...

Bonus: Large charisma, ability to turn into young adult human.
Half-Damned, All Hero.

Tev: You're happy. You're Plotting. You're Evil.
Me: Evil is so inappropriate. I'm ruthless.
Tev: You're turning me on.

I know, that's what will make it even more hilariously awkward. I get this image of Volemack acting like an over large, excited puppy while Cerridwen tries to hold him back from doing something stupid and looking embarassed the entire time.

*Dies Laughing* I'm just imagining a PALADIN OF LIGHT (tm) walking into that joint. I'm going to be chasing away half their patronage just by walking in with the Aura of Goodness around me.

"I dislike paladins. Their auras make my skin itch."

Of course, remember that the Spanked Tiefling Tavern is currently the only lodging available in the town. We'll see what you do upon arrival in Ashvale.

It's entirely possible for you to find other accomodation, you'll just have to do some work for it first. Of course, since the entire tavern is 'hilarity ensues' waiting to happen, that's up to you. Right now though I'm waiting to see if rhoenix either did that intentionally or if he made a very, very big mistake.

Excellent. Garxon will definitely 'wait' to arrive until after the lawful good characters show up. He'll be hilarity and a fight waiting to happen. Which one happens will be up to your actions and reactions to him.

Clerics of St. Cuthbert are infamous for getting in fistfights with people who disagree too stubbornly with them. Just throwing that out there.
