Sorry, I was gone most of the day. Was helping with a fencing demonstration at a local fair.

Well, right now I'm trying to find out of Eight will just put Bartel down, or if he has to ask. Charon's not answering me on AIM.

I was gone all day either doing stuff for my folks or hanging out with friends. Yes, Eight would just let you down.

Well, reading the spell description for speak with dead, I can safely say that you can ask your questions any time now, but be prepared for frustration if you don't ask your questions properly.

I'm well aware of the nature of the spell. I'm carefully considering.

Hehehehe. We were playing City of the Spider Queen and Nalifan had died. The rest of the party decided went to an semii-ally for help and used a speak with dead spell to consult Nalifan. I rp'd the shade. My answers would have been perfect . . . if the GM had been part of the party. The rest of the players flubbed the interpretation and answered the hypothetical questions posed by the ally badly by telling him what they though he wanted to hear (since he was good) rather than the truth (not all of them were good). It was quite the train wreck.

Most fun I've had playing the game while my character was dead.

EDIT: That's not completely true. One of the other players did get it. Too bad none of the others would listen to him.

Right now I can think of one or two questions that you are probably thinking of asking that are one word off from a completely different questions, and the answers that the priest knows, or thinks he knows as the case may be, will be radically different. I won't screw you over on nitpicky stuff, but beware because you could get completely wrong information if you ask the wrong question. Even if you think you're asking the right one.

Yes, I'm trying my best to operate under what Volemack has told him rather than his actual vision. If he knew that the urge to jump came from being told to jump by the shadowy figure, he'd be coming to that conclusion, but right now he has little basis for it.

Okay, ask your first question at any time now Rogue, nothing is going to jump out and bite you while you work at the spell (yet).

Well, somebody obviously failed a save against a (carefully worded) suggestion spell. Either that, or the stranger had a lot of time to engage in good, old-fashioned brainwashing.

Well that or the poor bastard was reduced to Wis 1 when he was being talked to and thus was having a very hard time discerning truth and falsehood. I mean, its not like you just faced the sort of creature capable of doing that, although obviously an allip couldn't exactly do what happened here. Just saying though.

One more question and then we can move on to the next scene and set up for the next fight, and that should finish up the majority of what will happen for Blackdell. Which means XP. And treasure. And I can bring in another player.

Hey that is mean... but you will notice a pattern. I tend to stay in games with rulesets. And lets be fair here, most of the time (old world monsters, the undermountain game, etc etc) the GM has stopped posting...

usually when I do leave, it is because of a poorly timed slough of activity in an otherwise slow game that keeps me from being able to catch up while maintaining continuity.

Oh don't you dare throw the blame of OWM dying on me. I tried kicking that thing several times and it barely twitched.

Okay, that should be straightforward enough. Now we'll see if he was too addled to answer even that.

The bad news: he doesn't have an exact date because his sense of time was messed up, but it was obviously shortly before he died. The good news is that there is another source of information that you might be able to talk to.

You know what might be smart Rogue? Enchanting a pebble with the light spell and tossing it down the well so you can maybe see what's at the bottom of the spell. You would think it odd that if the halfling and the bow both fell down the well they would be separated, no?

I was getting to it. Don't want to just go tossing stuff down there before we're ready to do something about it.

Well I was trying to keep you guys from shooting yourselves in the head for what is to come, but it would seem that the party's main tank has just said that he's not going down there.

I'm honestly not trying to kill all of you, but damn it if you're not making it easy.
