The good news is that Bartel knows that this creature is an allip, a sort of incorporeal undead created when someone is driven mad and commits suicide. Its touch can permanently drive men insane.

Speaking of which, Fehl has just taken 4 points of Wisdom drain. Ouch on that one.

Edit: Though Bartel will need to gain a level and come up with 100 gp worth of diamond dust before he can heal Fehl. Allips are bastardly.

I didn't expect it to; the effect isn't particularly visual. The real question is whether or not its damage is cut in half, which was the idea.

Well, there's only one thing that causes that short of an antimagic field. Someone's going to die of severe trauma to the brain pan for doing that to the church.

"Cleansing with Fire" should always be on the list of options. One never knows when it would come in very, very handy.

Oh, that's been on the table for some hours now.

At any rate, consecrate should at least function to cut off whatever divine connection is causing it to not work. So at least that's something.

Yup, for a couple of hours anyway, long enough to deal with this combat anyway. Until you clean up this mess, its going to be a dark blot on the face of the planet, a place where an atrocity so horrific occurred that it has been near indelibly stained with evil, and only the cleansing of the place will set it right.
