Awesome. Post whenever you're ready.

Yeah, and forgot to mention earlier: That theological conundrum of his wouldn't stump a child, much less a cleric of the faith in question. Whenever he's ready.
Me, I'm just wondering when he's going to realize he's being played like a two copper whistle. As long as he's talking to Bartel, he's not smashing up the town.

Well, you don't know the full story of what happened, and Garxon admits it was a really lame argument and the guy he met seemed to be looking for a fight. And you seem to misunderstand Garxon's motivation right now. Right now he's partying, and any damage to the town is incidental in his mind. In his mind, you're not actually distracting him from anything seeing as how to him this is part of the way he parties, thus he is completing his objectives perfectly. If he actually wanted to destroy the town, he would have attacked already. While quite brutish, Garxon also has a strong intellectual streak, if not a whole lot of common sense, and a test of wills is as much fun as a test of strength, if not more so because he's not as good with his head as he is with his muscles.

Oh, I understand, but if he gets bored I hate to think what would happen.

Well, basically right now Garxon is probably running out of things to do to annoy you, so my next move with him will be to see what LadyTevar does next.
What he does when bored in this sort of situation is rather amusing though.

Well, I've just given him a new target for his will and wiles.

Is she wearing her gear and does she have symbols of her religious affiliation on open display?

There's plenty of ways he can antagonize Bartel. Actually hurting someone or displaying kill trophies, for instance, is an excellent method. Of course, then he's not so much broken his will as simply given him a reason.Academia Nut wrote:Well, basically right now Garxon is probably running out of things to do to annoy you, so my next move with him will be to see what LadyTevar does next.

I could easily take the attempt to enchant Bartel as a reason (when you make a save against a mind-influencing effect, you know it), but that's kind of hard to prove. Hence, the remark about retribution not needing immediacy.

Exactly, and that's no fun. He wants you to break your own rules and laws, because you're the one whose supposed to be sticking to them, not him. If you hadn't withdrawn your decision to hit him with Hold Person he would have announced to everyone that you struck first and that what he did next was in self defence.
And yeah, he was hoping you would take the attempt to fascinate you as causus belli and strike, but it would be damned hard to prove anything. Especially since I'm not even sure if this ability counts as supernatural or extraordinary as the description doesn't say. It's from a feat anyway.

Well if I hadn't withdrawn my decision what he'd have done next was get hammered with the mace, backed up by Smite, Feat of Strength, a two-handed grip, and full Power Attack. Bartel's no PA-based barbarian, but when he wants to he can dish the hurt.
Not that it matters now, unless he's going to do something else.

As stated.. Shield on Back. The symbol I had taken out to show the guard, and I've never said I put it back, so it's showing. But I'm relaxed, casual, and other than looking around the room to see what was where, ignoring the debauchery.Academia Nut wrote:Is she wearing her gear and does she have symbols of her religious affiliation on open display?

Okay, I think I've got you there. This should be... interesting.
Also, Rogue, I absolutely would have loved to have seen you do that.

Well when I typed that I was under the assumption that he'd murdered a cleric. To his mind, and that of his hierarchy, that justifies deadly force. Realizing that he didn't was what changed my mind about the whole deal.
And is he really done? I even have a few more choice barbs!

LadyTevar, you can take that roll or leave, I just figured it would help speed things up if I left a d20 there for you. If you roll your own, you do have to take it though, and I will expect you to roll for yourself from now on.

Well, he can just have a snappy reply and then do what he was going to do. Incidentally, when he says "the same way you drink your beer," he means sloppily and with others doing most of the work.

Well, that edit changed the dice roll result, huh, you would think there would be some way of preventing that. Oh well, for the record the first time I saw it, it was a 1.
#247
Well that's odd, because I would swear I saw a 15. Several times.
Edit: In fact, I haven't refreshed and the post is still in my cache; I don't see your edit and it's definitely a 15.

Weird. Maybe I just saw it wrong the first time, only seeing the 1 and not the 5. Whatever.

Out of curiosity, what the hell would he do if he fascinated her first thing, besides get whacked on the back of the head with a cudgel? Can't exactly mess with her in the same way if all she can do is stand and stare.
