Oh man I love Vinland Saga. God-damn Vikings.
So who's like Thorkell the Crazy-mother-fucker-who-laughs-when-someone-cuts-off-two-of-his-fingers?

An NPC from the Western Wastes, a crazy ass mofo who will serve as a side plot and hopefully comedic relief even as he's trying to kill the PCs, although I suppose its possible he might help them, depending upon the circumstances and how the PCs treat him. Expect lots of drinking and wenching in between bouts of violence for the hell of it. He'll be pretty much the antithesis to the collection we have right now.
He'll be the guy merrily singing while he tries to disembowel others, draining his mug of ale before smashing someone's face in with the empty vessel, and generally have a grand old time smashing, burning, and looting things.
Thorkell is how you're supposed to play CN.

Well... Perhaps the anti-thesis to the rest of these schmucks. My guy is Neutral. Thorkell may just be the one human he'll get along with.
But yeah, Thorkell is definitely CN.

Yeah, but you're a construct, so while you might get the mercenary mindset, the rest might not make quite as much sense to you. He might not be a goody two-shoes like most everyone else, but he's still a world away from your normal perspective. Hopefully I don't play the guy in an annoying manner though, although he might be a bit too much of a "meatbag" for a construct to understand.

True enough on the mindset point. The womanizing and the boozing would certainly be confusing to him. Though I have to say he prefers the term "Fleshbag". Because that's what you are. Bags of flesh with all sorts of... squishy... things... in there.
As for playing Thorkell. Just remember that a little Thorkell can go a long way and that while he might be slightly crazy he isn't the least bit stupid and can have his serious moments.

Oh yeah, this character is by far not stupid, and if he starts to lose he will leg it at the first opportunity as he firmly believes in the addage of "He who fights and runs away lives to fight another day" while still being cuckoo crazy nuts. He's the kind of guy who, upon entering a large city, might organize a conga line amongst the city's beggars because he feels like dancing and beggars are really easy to pay off in mass numbers. The fact that hundreds of poor people running about in masses in the streets might spook the authorities and trigger an anti-riot response does not occur to him and if an actual riot bursts out, well then that's a bonus because fire is pretty.

I'm tempted to open up the thread now with an introduction to Ashvale, the most western large town in Eastwind, and the largest trading port between the kingdom and the barbarians beyond, which isn't saying. Usually they don't attack, but the town is well fortified to defend itself just in case. That said, its the most cosmopolitan community in the region due to the strange things that come in out of the wastes with gems, pelts, metals, and odder things to trade. The officially endorsed lodgings for registered guests is the "Spanked Tiefling Tavern", where you will see just about every known race (and some unknown!) come though if you sit around long enough. Here the PCs can listen in on rumours and meet some of the characters, player and non, in the world.
And in one particular corner is one guy with a waitress on either leg bragging about how he acquired his latest trinket. I expect him to get the attention of at least two of the PCs right away.
However, since that scenario is likely to devolve into a fight, even if its a short one, I will wait until I at least have everyone's character sheets in. That will also let me know who has what ranks in what knowledge skills so I can fill them in a bit via PMs on various aspects of the campaign world they would know.
So maybe tomorrow night I will start the game thread. Don't expect any dice rolling until Friday at the soonest though.

So... tomorrow...
Huh, I appear to be quivering with anticipation. Damn me and my "Get it right" nature! Damn me! Still, the sooner I get all of the character sheets in and finalized, the better.
Hopefully at least the first bit will be entertaining enough to justify this whole affair. I mean, if I say, "He looks like this only with X and Y" that will amuse people.
Incidentally, this is Thorkell.
And yes, he is punching out a charging horse.

Poor horse.
Which series did you lift that from anyways?

It's a manga called Vinland Saga which is about a bunch of Vikings in the early to mid 11th century being... well, Vikings. It is a bit fantastic at times (see above picture), but is generally quite historically accurate in that while you might have a historical figure punching out a horse with his bare hands, you don't have any magic and the dress and tech and so on is quite close to what is was like back then.
It is also incredibly awesome. The first chapter features the Viking band portaging their dragon ships over a mountain so that they can use them to assault the unprotected lake-side of a Frankish village while a rival faction of Franks lay seige. The Vikings then proceed to loot the entire village and escape via waterfall.

So, ummm... how far is everyone on getting their char sheets ready? I know rhoenix and Rogue 9 are all done up and ready, and Tevar is mostly done except for I have yet to hear how exactly her character got 63 skill points to spend, but how's about Charon and Nitram?

I'm busy looking at all the pretty equipment and wondering what to get, how to get what I want/need, and how you get those fancy effects on stuff.
Other than that though the character's done, if you want to see him.

Right now probably the biggest thing is your skills because I can use what you have to give you hints of background material as clues/characterization building. If you're still not quite sure on your gear, then don't quite worry about that part yet, you can add in later. Also, if you have a specific item you need for your character concept but that you are having trouble with paying for, PM me about it and depending on what you want we can work on it.

Oh dear, not too bad I hope? Obviously his health comes first, so if he's not feeling well he can take whatever time he needs.

Huh... well, I was planning on giving all of this blood to the blood god for a sacrifice to grant the campaign good fortune, but he can have it if he wants. Guaranteed 100% virgin.
Get well soon Nitram!

Hell, he has the option to switch out one of his fighter levels to take warforged juggernaut, and if he did he would get armour spikes and some really good charging abilities. Although I think he's just looking over his weapons choices right now. I hope. Although he certainly could go for the "walking chest of sharp things" character archetype quite easily.

Oh yes, I just remembered. I doubled checked how bloodlines worked and they do give feats and they count towards caster level and class level for numerical effects (but they don't give more spells per day and such) but they don't give anything else, including skill points.
So by my math Tevar has (2+2+1)*7 = 35 skill points to work with, but the max ranks are still at 9 if that is so desired.
Also, since most of the characters are now well established I am thinking that I can put up the game thread either late tonight or sometime tomorrow morning, although nothing worth rolling dice over will be happening for a few more days yet.

Ok I think I've got the equipment down right. But I could be totally wrong.
