It was a god-damned roll from hell, but 3 10s said he did it.
The knife shattered.

And another great 40K chapter.
I wonder how 'holding the line' will affect the new Titan's mental growth.
But now, the Typo patrol:

Are you sure you have the right word for this? Corduroy is a particular kind of fabric, one of the first velvets ever woven. The word itself means "cloth of kings". Since you mention later the road is fallen logs, the imagery of rippled bumps makes sense, as thats' how corduroy cloth appears.A crude corduroy road has been built by the Pathfinder brigades of the Imperial Guard.
Did you mean "are"?Vast pools of water are puddles to the mighty titan, sucking patches of mud and not even annoyances.

Isn't it "Vae Victis"?
And would you finish one story before you start another :P ?

But now, the Typo patrol:
Quite certain. It's the less common meaning. And my dad likes corduroy pants.

Thank you for clarifying that, dear. I still find it amusing that corduroy is a velvet, when my generation saw it as cheap ugly fabric.

Mkay. I'm almost positive it's "victis," as that's what Google and Rome Total War both show, but I don't speak Latin so I can't say for SURE.Cynical Cat wrote:No. "Woe to the Conquered."The Cleric wrote:Isn't it "Vae Victis"?

Vae victis is "woe to the conquered." Vae victus is "woe to the conquest," or more like "woe to the act of conquering," presuming my memory doesn't completely fail me; victus is the verb meaning to conquer. Needless to say, that doesn't make a lot of sense; I suppose it could be taken as "woe to the conqueror," but 1.) I don't think the Imperium would buy that idea and 2.) it would be easier and more grammatically correct to say vae victor.
But then, Games Workshop has never bothered with correct Latin; the Ultramarines have a strike cruiser named Vae Victus, which should be an instant clue that the Latin is wrong.

I'm getting returns on searches on both spellings, which is a problem when my Latin is crappy and rusty. I'll have to check the old fashion way and correct if necessary.
The "Latin" of 40K is actually a descendant of English.

WH40k uses "victus", while the correct form is "victis." So moot point.Cynical Cat wrote:I'm getting returns on searches on both spellings, which is a problem when my Latin is crappy and rusty. I'll have to check the old fashion way and correct if necessary.

It got a little confusing with the changes to the Trandosian's sex, and there's a few typos that jumped out at me... but it's an interesting story.
It is a one-shot, or the start of something new?

There were no changes. Observers assumed she was male. Rath knew differently, but was feigning ignorance.LadyTevar wrote:It got a little confusing with the changes to the Trandosian's sex?

My my.. a Jedi threatening to kill someone without trial...
It's nice to know when a man will cave in, isn't it?
So... Jedi and the bountyhunters will take off together.
