Okay, there are no elves in the party, but there is a dwarf, and these hallways are stonework. Rather than tip you guys off by asking for a Search check when you come to something, I'm going to ask Jason to make a Search check and post it here so I can use it next time Stonecunning comes into play.

Congratulations; here's your first encounter. Who knows; you might be able to talk to them if you talk fast.

Sorry if it appears I edited my roll. I did not. I simply had to edit the post as it took me several tries to get the syntax for rolling dice right.

Besides... if I was gonna edit my rolls, you'd think I'd pick a better number to edit it to...

I want to try to bluff. Do I have to do that before or after Initiative?

Edit: Remember, I don't know 3.5 that well so anyone who wants to tell me the order of the shit is welcome to. It doesn't neccessarily need to be Rogue if it's a general rule.

Adjacent means next to you; one square away. You are your own ally. It's not going to matter here anyway; they don't have fear effects.

I ended up deleting my post twice today because I got the syntax wrong, and I didn't want it to look like I'd cheated by having two or three edits. So - no worries, you're not the only one.

If people weren't readying weapons it would be before, but now that everyone's pretty much getting ready to kill each other, you're just going to have to hope you go first if you want it to have any effect.

1d20 plus your Dexterity modifier. In case of tie, the character with the highest Dexterity score goes first .

There seems to have been some confusion; I'm sorry. A "square" in the sense I used it above is five feet by five feet. For game purposes, a Small or Medium sized creature takes up one 5x5 square. To be adjacent to a creature, the 5x5 space you are in must adjoin the space the creature is in. In short, to be considered adjacent you must be able to hit the creature with a non-reach melee weapon.

Okay, when I call for initiative, I'm going to allow 24 hours to get it in. That means that come 5:25 PM Eastern Time, anyone who hasn't rolled initiative and posted it will have it done for him, and the character will delay his action until the player returns.

Yes. Four hours left.

Incidentally, once combat starts, everyone has one day from the time the last person posted to post their turn unless I get warning beforehand that there will be a delay. And I may get annoyed if people constantly wait until the last minute; I'm only allowing 24 hours because sometimes a person will only have one time of day that he can really get online.
