Kergan Mehrimat now has a character sheet. I also outlined my feat build on it, just in case I lose my notes.

Whoops. Done now - it's publicly viewable now.

Your notes are just slightly off, but I suppose that can't be helped with the system. Oh well.

How are they off?

General Havoc, you need to list Eralis' domains. And if you want to be proficient with that longsword, one of them should be War, which fortunately for you, Tyr offers.

*Shrug* You've lost me. He's going to qualify for all the feats, assuming he keeps taking ranks in Jump.

Anyway, we'll worry about that when and if it comes up. For now, I think we've got a functional party as soon as Nitram's done. I'll start the game thread when everyone's ready; please work on how your characters know each other, if at all. I have a couple hooks that can just assemble the party, but it's a lot easier on me if there's preexisting relationships between at least some of you.

Made some alterations to my sheet. Dropped the Law domain, and added in War, and Rogue figured out that the Cleric handbook screwed up, and that I needed to rework my feats in order to get Quicken Spell properly. Added in the background and description, clarified the domain spells, and otherwise cleaned it up.

Should be good to go.

I still need to write up the fluff, but here's the short version (and mind you, I'm pulling all of this right out of my ass as I don't have any Forgotten Realms books - so any suggestions are appreciated):

Kergan was born in a relatively remote village of Faerun, near one of the expansive forests certain Elf bands call home. There has been some intermingling of culture (and of marriage - rare, but it has happened) over the decades, as talk between the two has always been polite and friendly.

When he was training as the apprentice of a retired soldier in the nearest large town, Kergan ran into other young aspiring students as well, all apprenticing their own crafts. (CHARACTER HOOK FOR HISTORY). It was during his training that something...peculiar happened with him, because this was when he discovered his calling.

Having no formal teacher apart from his own instincts and what small pearls of insight certain people have given him, Kergan embarked on the path of the Duskblade similarly to how most walk the path of the Sorcerer. For him, it is an individual path, but one that he feels honored to have as his life's path.

Having met another Duskblade named Mina Argozt who happened to pass through that town, he learned some of the finer points of his craft before she departed for other lands.

It seems Duskblades are wanderers and explorers both, something Kergan already feels strongly. Now that he has finished his initial training, he is ready to discover his next lessons from the harsher teacher of the wanderer's life.

Tribes are for humans and Green Elves. A small Moon Elf settlement might be called a band.
When he was training at the Fighter's Academy run by a retired soldier in a nearby town,
Fighter's Academy? Seriously? Besides the horrible name your should rethink that.

Also nearby town and remote village are not compatible concepts.

Yeah...

Anyway, Rhoenix, you may want to give The Duskblade's Handbook a once-over, just to see if it gives you any ideas. (The Somatic Weaponry feat makes TWF viable for a caster; I knew there was something I was forgetting when we discussed it earlier.) You probably don't want to change your build radically at this point, but it might give some ideas for later. It's also got some good equipment suggestions.

Fixed.

Fixed - now he's an apprentice to the retired soldier.
Cynical Cat wrote:Also nearby town and remote village are not compatible concepts.
Also fixed to "nearest large town."

Thank you for pointing those out.

I'll have to check it out when I get home - but it sounds intriguing. Thanks!

Okay, I think we're close enough to ready. I'm starting the game thread tomorrow when I get back from work, which should be sometime between 10:00 am and noon eastern time.

The game thread is up. If you want to be one of the ones to have experienced the vision, tell me; there are things I'll need to describe to you. Characters likely affected by the visions include arcanists, their longtime friends and companions, their descendants, and people possessing items that have come from Undermountain. This set of criteria could apply to almost anyone, so I leave it up to you whether your great-grandfather was a wizard or the sword you carry came from Melairbode.

I'll be honest. When I was tugged into this, not entirely unwillingly, I was hoping for some non-RP heavy games. Those who note such things will notice I've cut down on my involvement on RP heavy games here, and it's not because I've found greener pastures. It's because I want a break and to simply bash skulls.

I figured Undermountain would be a good way to do this, since it's Undermountain. Given the way the thread is going, I'm probably gonna bow out.

Even if you do, I'd like to thank you and Hotfoot both for helping me to refine my character into what he is now.

Because of that actually, I was hoping things would get a little bloody too, but I'll see how it goes.

As soon as I get everyone down that damned entry well, skulls will be bashed. But first I have to get them all down there. This would be significantly easier if you guys had decided to write each other into your backgrounds so we had a coherent team from the get-go, but you didn't, so now I have to make you into one.

If you want, Nitram, you can meet the party down there. One of the effects of the visions is to compel those who received them to go down into Undermountain for reasons revealed in the visions. You could be one of the Called and have simply gone down there first.

We'll see. I'll ask Rogue if I can make a dramatic, draconic entrance later if it changes pace.

It's honestly an overload of 'RP Heavy games where it's just fight this, fight that'. Sometimes I enjoy that, but with games like that already on my blurry-eyed table, if I'm going to go RP heavy, it's going to be less D&D, more Exalted, where one makes a big, epic impact. And I'm very unsure if this format and group could do such.

B4 is the only one who posted since I did. I'll clear it with Rogue, and vet it for changes.

EDIT: done. He has now arrived at the Yawning Portal.

And that should get it done. The only reason I went for that at all was to try and get at least some of you together. Nitram, if you want to meet them down there once the action's started, just say the word.
