I'm not sure whether that comforts or scares him.

Before being vaporized, Hector belonged to a group that violated nearly every gun ownership law in Western Europe and had enough training facilities and firearms to warrent being invaded by the US Army.
I'm starting to like Null Space. Anyone have any nitpicks before I start finalizing details? And if any of you can think of an easy way to introduce a new character, please speak up. At the moment, I am considering writing his backstory with smuggling and Corporate espionage being major parts. Things like running supplies through warzones, stealing entire production prototypes that would normally be too large to get out of the building in one piece, things like that. Not set on it, but it might give someone an idea for introductions.

Just saying.
It might've for Hydro, though.
More seriously, it increasingly appears that Luminos will be one of the goody two-shoes type of character compared with most of you. That's hilarious to me.

Why the fuck would we want a criminal to join the team? We're Heroes. The problem with the good brother was that he was clearly not at all interested in being part of the team. He was palling up with angel boy and was coming along for his own entirely separate reasons. He had no reason to join with us and we had no reason to want him.Bloody Good wrote:

1) Come up with a fucking hero. Full stop.
2) Talk to the GM and a player to arrange a back story connection with that player so we have a reason to bring you in and trust him.
3) Be part of the team. No suspicious higher loyalties to other agencies.
4) No fucking conventional firearms. They're too damn weak for this power level.

Isn't it a little late to want only upright citizens in this group? I shouldn't have to point out that Blackheart's a murderous psychopath, and Argent is a thief.Cynical Cat wrote:Why the fuck would we want a criminal to join the team? We're Heroes.
Splitting his loyalties is one of your points I can understand - but talking about a PC's moral fibre from the player of Blackheart is truly hilarious.

Ahem. Blackheart is a SOCIOPATH, not a psychopath. Argent's got her moments of sociopathy as well. Legacies was a cold-hearted killer. Gravitas.... well... we'll not say much there. Saibot's just whacked.rhoenix wrote:Isn't it a little late to want only upright citizens in this group? The following is an attempt to hammer down Gravitas' limits and capabilities, and get the green light.
Tidal Blast: The tidal forces of a blast of controlled and shaped space forced through someone are painful as hell. With a range of two hundred meters, he can cause knockout(Via disrupting the flow of blood and internal balance). At half that range, he is fully capable of letting the forces tear the victim apart. (For those that would like a Gamer view, the stun blast can deal out 12-16 Bashing damage in WoD stats. The lethal blast hits for 8-10 Lethal damage. No Agg.)
Alter Local Gravity: As long as he's concentrating, Gravitas can increase or decrease the local gravity in an area of 50 square meters by up to 3G's up or down. Tripling someone's weight is a good way to slow them down, while reducing everything's weight by 2/3's is a great way to move things.
Slingslot Flight: By manipulating the push and pull of gravity on himself, Gravitas doesn't so much fly as fling himself with great accuracy. He can acheive speeds of 200 MPH.
Distortion Shield: Hitting Gravitas with anything that has mass when he's defensive is hard. The shaped space around him slows and deflects all but the most accurate shots, and even fisticuffs. Only massless energy attacks can bypass this defense(For those wondering, the rules for this power are that he can subtract 5 successes from any weapons fire, and add five soak for anything that hits. Hand to hand is only reduced by 2, not five.)
Moving Mountains: Careful use of gravitational fields allow Grav to lift up to five thousand pounds(About two tons) in a form of telekinesis. Occasionally, he throws them as crude warnings.
Open Wormhole: A moment's concentration will allow Gravitas to open a wormhole anywhere within the solar system. Longer meditation and preparation can open longer ranged warps, but is unlikely to be present in this game. Heck, he's not likely to visit Pluto this game.
Hard To Put Down: Wierd internal biology, an accelerated healing rate, and an ability to shrug off even hard vacuum makes Gravitas hard to put down permenantly. Not so hard to make him bleed everywhere and pass out.
Too much?

Blackheart is neither a sociopath or a psychopath, which are in fact two words that mean the same damn thing (sociopath implies that the antisocial personality disorder is created by the environment and is not inherent). Kindly stop using words you clearly don't know the meaning of.
Blackheart is as killer who is willing to take the law into his own hands. His background is an extralegal agent who takes down threats to public safety no matter what the cost and he's willing to break the law for the greater good. Argent is self centered. Neither is devoid of conscience. The only people who has blown up large structures without checking to see if they're clear of innocent people is angel boy, who didn't abort his countdown when he knew he was going to vape the good brother.

I want to say calling Blackheart a psychopath is completely off. Blackheart doesn't get any enjoyment out of killing nor does he want to. He doesn't have any problems killing someone when he decides they're to dangerous. He won't kill an innocent bystander or go out of his way to find reasons to kill someone.
There within is the root of it. Blackheart is someone willing to judge if someone is to dangerous to be let out on society at large and then act on the judgment.
Hotfoot and Blast are both pretty much heroic types. Tachyon is pretty close to that to.

Gravitas is 'heroic' in the sense that he's in this for selfless reasons. He wants to help people. He wants to save lives. It's all distorted because he's a raging egomaniac, but a hero without flaws is dull.

Way to ruin the joke, Cyncat
Blackheart is a Dark Hero, someone who will kill if that is what it takes to stop a threat to innocents. (Edit: Frigid put it better)
Argent's just messed up.

All of this is splitting hairs pretty thinly, and none of it negates my point that the Heroes PC group are not, collectively, paragons of virtue - with one or three possible exceptions.
In other news - so much for downtime for the group; Luminos isn't going anywhere, so I'll wait patiently.

There's a difference between an anti-hero and a mercenary, or just a common criminal. While Argent has a criminal background, she actually does care about people and is willing to put her life on the line to save others.

This is gonna be fun... :)genhavoc (1:31:45 PM): Hehe, writing for Hydro is fun. It's like being in permanent droning-professor mode
magithis (1:32:29 PM): Although it seems like Hydro forgot what Blast told him.
genhavoc (1:32:39 PM): How do you mean?
magithis (1:33:50 PM): Blast told you that their job was to fight bad guys and defend the population remember?
genhavoc (1:33:58 PM): Oh yes, he got that
genhavoc (1:34:02 PM): but he does not understand it
magithis (1:34:18 PM): I thought I had put it in pretty simple terms.
genhavoc (1:34:27 PM): You did, but he has no frame of reference there
genhavoc (1:35:13 PM): Hydro is semi-amoral, not in that he does not care about morality, but in that he does not understand flesh-beast morality. When you say you defend people against those who hurt them, he assumes that this is because of some darwinian mechanism whereby you are profitting from the equation
genhavoc (1:35:32 PM): the concept that you are doing this because it is the right thing to do is not one that he has reached quite yet
genhavoc (1:35:51 PM): And when he does, he will find it fascinating, and no doubt probe you all with many questions.
magithis (1:36:10 PM): Oh dear.
genhavoc (1:36:43 PM): He abhors the Pyronics (demons) not because they are evil, but because they tortured him (which gets on his nerves) and because he believes they have no respect for the mechanisms of research and learning. They destroy things so as to understand them, while he holds that to destroy a thing is to fail to understand it.
genhavoc (1:37:13 PM): He is not a bad person, but he has no conception of "evil" relative to "good".
magithis (1:37:32 PM): Oh boy this is gonna be a long talk between the two of them then.
genhavoc (1:37:55 PM): He's not an idiot. It will become apparent quickly that you guys are operating under rules other than the ones he is familiar with
genhavoc (1:39:24 PM): If he sees a demon ransacking and destroying a town, for instance, his thought is not "Evil demon is killing people", but "that demon is utterly destroying all chance that I or anyone else will ever have to understand what is transpiring within this town. This is criminally negligent at best, and iconoclastically perverse at worst."
magithis (1:40:14 PM): iconoclastically perverse huh?
genhavoc (1:41:47 PM): Exactly

Speaking of fun.
BraidedShinigami (12:10:48 PM): oh, Blast's oathy goodness?
magithis (12:10:55 PM): Yeah.

Hey, DarkWing was one of the best Batman parodies I've ever seen.
Still... I love how no one's really saying anything about the Body on the Couch.
