Food was the next thing on his list. He would have to head for the stockyards, and search for a non-human entity a little more substantial than a cat.

When he got there, he put himself for the grindstone, searching for food

There opportunity for more substantial meals existed. The cattle would spook at th approach of most vampires, but some of the slaughter houses operated deep into the night before they were shut down for the cleaning crews. The myriad was products were slouched away in drains or collected for making sausage and ground meat. Trespassers were not welcome, but an adept individual could overcome the obstacles.

Marcus closed the door behind them and looked back, scratching his chin.

"Really? I don't remember saying anything of that sort." Marcus grinned. "But since you ask, I'm quite knowledgable on who's who in the underworld. Plus I understand you're beginning your very own turf war. So, I'm willing to give you names of underbosses you can clean out. As well as some names who might be interested in helping you. I also have some contacts who may even be able to help you in a few years to make certain your speakeasy stays open and even thriving."

Marcus stopped himself from snorting in derision, a speakeasy, as if there'd be any left in a few decades. Prohibition was just one more fad that would pass.

[Josh]

"If it comes to a war, it comes," he said with a shrug. "Not looking for one. I got my chunk of turf, and I let the Mick's boys know that I'll burn 'em if they come for it. They don't take that message, then they're not gonna be happy with what comes. Anybody who's got a stake in the Mick might want to veer him another direction, because I'll bury the little cocksucker if he keeps pushing at me."

Father Leonard took stock of said obstacles

Marcus took a seat and kicked his legs up onto the table. "As I've heard, you've already started your war against Mick. I doubt he's gonna like that much either. I'd say you've got a feew options, keep hitting him but get Capone in on the action to keep Mick off your case. The other option, of course, is to let Mick steamroller over you. We may be creatures of the night but enough kine with tommy guns are still a threat." Marcus waited for the Brujah to speak again. How little he knew...

[Josh]

Actually, he was more inclined to hook up with the Gennas, but he wouldn't go into his real plans here.

"Tell me what you got on Capone."

[Charon]

Marcus nodded "Capone is an up and comer. So far he's just working for a big time runner, Torrio. But Torrio is getting old and tired, and he's probably gonna be looking at Capone to fill his shoes. You get in good with Capone now, he'll probably look out for you if you need it. Plus with the big guys busy going at it, it's doubtful if they'll notice a small operation like your own expanding into places that were previously occupied by someone else."

[Josh]

He nodded. A plan was starting to form in his mind, something rather audacious.

"Interesting. I'll see what I can move on that end. So what's your cut on this?"

[Cynical Cat]

Jason sucked in a breath out of old reflex. People wasn't what he was good with, but he didn't have much choice but to go through with it. He headed over to the Prince. The olive skinned guy with the Prince kept an eye on him, but did nothing. Lucas Black finished his conversation and turned to Jason.

Here goes nothing, Jason thought. "My name is Jason. I'm new in town."

Black maintained a placid expression. "You know of the Traditions?"

"Yes," Jason replied.

"Good. I have heard that you have been cooperative with my officers. Good. You have permission to stay in the city and hunt in the outskirts. If others give you permission to hunt in their territories, you may do so."

"Thank you, my Prince."

"You may leave."

"As you wish," Jason bowed and retreated. A victory, hopefully one of many.

[Charon]

He nodded. A plan was starting to form in his mind, something rather audacious.

"Interesting. I'll see what I can move on that end. So what's your cut on this?"

Marcus shrugged. "Simply assurances that, in a few years, should I need something from you you'll remember that I've helped you out."

[Josh]

He pondered that briefly. "Tag it for a boon, then, yeah. Okay, it's a deal."

[Charon]

Marcus reached back and grabbed some paper and a pencil. "You wanna deal with meeting him, or would you prefer I go with you to make sure things go smoothly?"

[Josh]

He bridled slightly. "What are you sayin'? I can do smooth."

[Charon]

Marcus shrugged. "True enough, but I've got a vested interest in this now."

[Josh]

Fucking Freak was implying that he couldn't smooth shit over. Sure, his preferred method of smoothing things over was having his ghouls smooth the dirt over with a shovel, but he could do slick.

He fought down the rising tide of anger, and shrugged. "Fine, you keep your hand in, and we'll get it taken care of."

[Charon]

Marcus smiled and got to his feet, "Good, I assume that covers everything then?"

[Josh]

"Yeah, that it does."

He opened the door and stepped out, resolving not to invite the Freak to any of his A-list parties.

[Charon]

Marcus suppressed a chuckle. His Brujah... friend... was not doing a very good job of hiding his anger. As such it would probably not be a good idea to further upsetting him.

"I'm sure we've missed thousands of priceless moments back in the land of harpies."

With that Marcus stepped back into the elysium proper.

[Josh]

He wandered back out to the harpies, but his anger roiled within. If he'd been back at his haven, he would've let off some steam by slapping around a sycophant or beating his ghoul or something, but here, he had to play it social.

Which frustrated him all the more.

He pasted on a bright, fake smile and circulated.

[Cynical Cat]

Hans and Haakon emerged from the back room a moment latter. They both approached the Prince as spoke for a moment. Hans departed a moment latter, but Haakon remained.

The big vampire sat down and a ghoul servant entered through a side door with a single flute of blood. She knelt before the elder Gangrel and offered it to him. He accepted, dismissed the girl with a wave of his hand, and sipped slowly. All eyes were on him.

[Josh]

The fuck was up with this? He circulated near the harpies, hoping somebody would babble about it and clue him in.

[Cynical Cat]

"Christ, that was quick," Karen murmured. "Official sanction and all that. I guess we've got a new elder in town. Wonder what the fuck that's going to do to the power structure. A bunch of rag tag neonites and a half brained ancilla or two now got a bonified elder as well as that rabid wolf Yeke-Arslan to back their clan's plays. Wonder how those two got along?"

[Josh]

Shit. Serious shift of the local balance of power to the Outlanders.

He mulled that over. Obvious reasoning? Trouble on the horizon, Sabbat trouble. The Gangrel and the Brujah were usually the front line of defense, with the Outlanders providing proper warning when they started scurrying back into town proper.

(He wasn't anybody's front line, himself. That's what ghouls and friends were for.)

Marcus watched as Hans left and Haakon took a seat and was served. Well, this was interesting. Haakon was official now, a little quick, but that meant somebody wanted a strong arm Gangrel around. This wouldn't be good.
