Who put the BlackHole in the same room as Gravitas?!

In other news: did Argent sum up the mission to everyone's satisfaction?

DS, looks a lot better, but I think you should ask yourself if you want to be a badass brawler or a badass blaster, or just decent in both. Remember, tell us what the effect of the powers are, and keep numbers nebulous. Should your shoulder cannons be able to gut a battleship, or simply damage a light armored vehicle? Should your strength allow you to help clear heavy rubble, or should it let you easily juggle cars, trucks, and semis?

Tev, looks good, and once the entire briefing is done, Hotfoot's going to have a fair amount to think about.

Charon, if you get a chance at being online at your 'rents house post your bit for the debrief here or in a PM to me or something if we're not waiting on you yet so we can keep the game moving a bit.

If it takes too long however I'll probably end up writing it myself to keep game flow.

Jarvis: "It flies like ten tons of farm tractor....."
Tony Stark: "Yeah...but it's got some sweet guns."
-Concerning the War Machine Armor (Ultimate Avengers 2)

That's the idea behind the armor, it's been since it's original inception, he's big, generally not very agile, and has some nice guns to it - but it can still go toe to toe with some of the tougher guys.

------

-The coil guns have been significantly weakened in all respects, from the rate of fire, to the maximum speed of the projectiles. These are the heavy weapons which are only present when a "add-on module" is installed to the back of the suit, in the lab/hanger. The low mass/size of the DU slugs themselves would make them more like pellets, than actual slugs, especially to fit 3000 of them between the two guns, not including the feeder mechanism and internals for the guns themselves in the housings.

Quiet frankly....the guns are his heavy weapon, for a mission objective which calls for that touch more firepower than he has with his repulsor beams and those five micro missles - not standard armor equipment that is worn all the time. There's no way in hell their gonna be going around gutting battleships anytime soon....I thought basic logic would dictate that....

-I've given enough information re:the repulsor beams in the sheet that their maximum power level should be easy enough to figure out. Their not a uber weapon, their pretty much standard energy weapons just working on funky magnetic principles instead of particle weaponry or LASER-type stuff.

-The suit is strong, yes, but no stronger than the strongest member of the team, without the amazingly fast reflexes of that teammate (being Legacies). In a fight - if he hits you, yes, it will hurt - but he has to be able to hit, and he doesn't have superior reflexes while in the armor, if anything, their human norm. The suit's design is for a baseline in it to go against the most common type of meta-humans, super strong/tough with some semblance of parity - cause face it, sometimes you gotta go toe to toe with the big bad ass who shrugs off your energy blasts and you have to make sure he's not going to squash you into paste when that happens.

So no, I don't think he's going to be juggling eighteen wheelers around anytime soon...you seem to be thinking the absolute worse of me and this character and the limited powers...but if it will be that much of a problem, I will see about lowering it...AGAIN (but only if more than you have a problem with the level of strength in the bleeding edge ultra-tech power armor the character SPECIALIZES in designing).

-I've dropped his Technopathic power completely, and the GM already knows the limitations of the Cyberpathy - that was discussed between him and I when I was working on the original sheet - so I'm not going to list the weaknesses here, it's unnecessary - unless the GM tells me to do otherwise.

So, to sum up, I've gotten him pretty much baseline without just going ahead, dropping the armor, and giving him super strength, toughness, and some guns (basically all the suit does....aside from the life support systems and extra vision sensors). Which would pretty much make him a Blackheart clone.....with more brains and without the nasty Space God eating him from the inside out. The ONLY Thing I'm willing to compromise anymore on, is the level of strength the armor has (though I think the whole speed issue offsets the strength well enough).

Look, I'll be honest, the two major sticking points are the ten ton strength (still 5 times more than Blackheart), and the DU slugs at Mach 1.75, and the fact that there doesn't seem to be any sort of penalty for carrying around the big heavy slugs.

Depleted Uranium is extremely dense material, meaning that even bullets the size of 5.56 rounds are going to have a fair amount of mass, and when you accelerate that mass to very high speeds, that's a lot of force to contend with. Rather than have you figure out the exact size and so forth for the projectiles though, all I'm asking is what you expect these slugs to be capable of doing. If your ranged capabilities are significantly less than Blackheart's, I can accept that you're five times stronger than him.

Remember, this isn't about what Iron Man can do or what you think a heavy armored suit should be capable of, it's about making a character that is roughly on par with the ones already presented in the game. What you're telling me is that you want a generalist, in which case your strength should be slightly higher than Blackheart's and your blasts should be somewhat weaker, or that both should be roughly on par.

That you are on par with Legacies is not "okay". Legacies is a melee only character, without flight, a sensors suite, and machine control. Melee is his speciality. You can fly faster than he runs and blast him from a distance, and when you do get into melee you hit as strongly as he does. That your reflexes are not as good is a detriment, but I don't think it is as much of one as you seem to believe, especially if you come flying in, tackle him at 100mph, and then ground and pound.

In short, Legacies should tear you apart in melee if you let him get that close. Maybe you're able to go toe to toe with him better than most, but that you can do the same kind of damage at close range while still being able to do serious damage at long range is not what I would consider "balanced".

I was comparing your character to Blackheart for a reason, your powersets intersect pretty heavily, thus allowing for a good basis of comparison. The idea that you expected to fly faster than Blackheart, have roughly comparable ranged attacks, and have the strength of our dedicated melee guy, plus all the ancilliary stuff tells me that your expectations are still pretty high.

This is a team of superheroes. We all have strengths and we all have weaknesses. That's part of what makes things interesting, because we have to rely on our team members to support us in the areas we aren't as good at. Generalist characters that are too powerful invalidate specialists. All I'm asking you to do at this point is to balance your melee ability and your ranged ability, because right now they're still a bit out of whack.

Frigid wants us all to put the game on hold until Friday, when he can "have time to read over the posts" before posting for Blast. Frigid pointed out he has no reliable computer access until his comp is fixed, as well.

Which means it might take even longer for him to post Blast's side of the story. :thewall:

I've been chatting with B4U, and he's given a hesitant okay to this, though details exist that will be ironed out, probably be you folks. Multiple opinions is always good, especially coming from anyone skilled enough to handle what this DM throws at you people.

Background is tied heavily to the upcoming chapter, so I will keep it a secret and just throw out the powers for comments. Ha ha, I gots me a sneak peak. B4U and I were chatting elsewhere about the games we've been in, and he got me interested in this one. A buddy of mine should be here sooner or later. Same deal pretty much goes for him: if we say too much, we might give away the next evil, dispicable, utterly mind-shatteringly horrifying chapter. Watch out for the llama.

Tasat
Power: Tasat has come into possesion of an ancient, arcane source of power, the Blasphemous Word. He only knows three of the syllabels, each of which commands a different power. The three he has learned are the Words of Fire, Pain, and Madness.

The Word of Fire: This syllabel grants the one who knows it potent pyromantic abilities. The limit that Tasat has reached is a temperature hot enough to turn steel into putty. Whether this is the limit of The Word or Tasat himself is unclear. The level of fine control possible is impressive, and he has managed to knock projectiles from the air with smaller bursts, though he is not talented or foolish enough to rely on it as a defense.

The Word of Pain: Tasat is able to inflict pain without injury. The pain he causes is very specific, and he has to concentrate to maintain and define it. For example, he could cause the sensation of being fed into a meat grinder, though no injuries would actually be present. It has to be a kind of pain he is familiar with or can imagine, though for reasons which will become clear later on, he is familiar with quite a variety of different flavors.

The Word of Madness: This syllabel allows Tasat to attack the mind instead of the body. This power is more clumsy than the other two, and the only things he has discovered that he can use it for are to block sane, rational thoughts in a person as long as he keeps concentrating, or to unleash the Word on a larger area and fill it with sights and sounds of a nightmarish nature.

As an additional note, Tasat was a regular human before earning his power, and was a rather talented fighter, though without meta-based powers to back it up, a knife's just a knife.

Oh, he will eventually, but the way he's being brought, it wouldn't work to give it to him right away. He's going to get a bit of a badass-toughness factor, but again, it ties in heavily with the story arc. And it won't be the sort of Arnold-esque "Watch me deflect bullets with my mighty abs!"

I still have not worked out all the kinks in Tachyon just yet but I am inclined towards letting him blink with one other person assuming he can touch the said individual. The reasoning is that without this capability, Tachyon becomes a highly mobile blaster. With it, it would be possible for Tachyon to grab a civilian or whatever from a burning building and escape with him/her. Ultimately, its a matter of non-combat utility. With the ability to "carry" someone Tachyon can grab someone in the team and yoink them out of harm's way. Considering that his blinking and displacement is line of sight, I don't see an innate balance issue. If anyone has any thoughts or comments, I am more than happy to hear them. Tachyon has not yet been introduced in play, this is the ideal time to iron out whatever kinks anyone may see.
