Heroes: Shadows over Millenium

Legacies simply nodded and turned his head so it was facing towards the medical equipment. "Interesting, then we suppose we shall have to kill him before we had thought it would be necessary. At the very least should he lose control, at least it will be in the middle of their base and thus civilian casualties will be limited." The entire method of speech was very monotone and cold, almost completely without any emotion on the issue one way or the other.

"Will you be able to join us?" Argent asked, her eyes going to the monitors, then down to the restraints binding him. "This is the second time you have been seriously injured in the last two days. There is also the matter of Raising Cain Enterprises...."

Legacies seemed to move some, binded badly by his restraints. "No, we will not be able to join you on this mission. Our wounds are still fresh and broken ribs take a long time to mend. By the time Raising Cain comes about however we will be back."

"Then if Blackheart loses control... I will take him Between and hold him there as long as I can." Argent stated quietly. "The demon is stronger, but I will be able to distract them."

Legacies seemed to shrug, or at least as best it could with the restraints. "We shall see what happens when it does." The symbiote slumped down in it's medical table and seemed to be relaxing again.
"We are still weak and require rest. Leave us." With that the head turned again and did not respond to stimuli.

Harry put three packages marked MOPP-4 and then two bags marked M50 on the counter. He looked at Ghost. "Sorry, Ryan, no AA-12's in stock."
"Shit," Ryan said. "Ok, can I just get some solid slugs for my shotgun?"
"Sure." Harry ducked behind the counter and placed a box of shells on the counter. "There you go. Anything else you guys need?" Ryan shook his head. "I can't think of anything." He looked the rest of his team. "How about you guys?"

Hotfoot shrugs as he fiddles with his headset. "Nah, can't think of much else. I'd rather not experiment with guns at the moment. I could go for something to eat though. I was following those guys for a while, and I get the feeling I'll be burning a lot of calories tonight."

Blast bundled up his gear. This was gonna be a pain in the ass.
"I'll show you the chow hall, come on." He said leading the way.
"Thanks, Harry!" He called over his shoulder leaving the room.

"Awesome." He grabbed his bundle and followed after Blast. "So, what's the food like? Same catering service that every college in the world uses, or did something actually have to grow and die for a meal to go on a plate here?"

"Well, it ain't the greatest food but it ain't half bad. I guess on a scale of 1 to 10 it's about a 5... Maybe a 4.6 or so. Still it's better then ramen or stale pizza." Blast replied leading him into the hall."Awesome." He grabbed his bundle and followed after Blast. "So, what's the food like? "True. I'll tell you though, my food bill freaking skyrocketed when I got my powers. I've had to be careful at buffets, I hear they throw you out if you eat too much these days." He walked into the hall and looked around. "Mmmm, greasy, fatty food. Gotta love it." The young man picks up a tray and starts loading it up with greasy cheeseburgers, bacon, beans, chili, and a big bottle of cola. If a normal person ate even half of what he did on a normal meal, they would become obese over a matter of months, but the benefits of his metabolism kept Hotfoot slim. As the final coup de grace, he picks up large handful of sugar packets and heads to a seat, laying out the food in front of him.

Blackheart came by and akwardly loaded up a tray full of sandwiches, cold cuts, and a great steaming bowl of beef teryaki. The meta finished off with two large glasses of juice, one orange and the other cranberry. He joined the others at the table and began to wolf down the food.

Blast had stuck to a cold sandwhich and a soda. To be honest he didn't feel very hungery but figured he could stand to eat. He eyed Hotfoot's tray.
"Man I got a feeling the foodbill goes up whereever you go." He said rolling up his mask.

"Heh, good to see I'm not the only growing boy around here. I was about to get self-concious about losing my girlish figure." Hotfoot smirked as he started devouring his burger in large bites. Normally he would be a little more formal around Blackheart, but right now food was foremost on his mind, so he wasn't thinking entirely about protocol. Seeing Blackheart with that much food had gone a ways towards lightening his mood.

Hotfoot shrugs at Blast. "I figured it was like this with most metas. You always hear about how the altered metabolism blah blah blah, or at least I did. I guess you're the exception at this table." He gulped and took another ravenous bite and chewed briefly, giving a short chance for others to reply.

"No clue. I still have no idea how I do what I do. Last I checked there didn't seem to be any extra organs floating around in me to handle the extra energy I slurp up. Or to spit it back out like I do." Blast said biting into his sandwhich and chewing for awhile.
"It's werid as hell if you ask me." He said swallowing.

"I know what you mean. Granted, I haven't done any trips to the hospital to figure out what happened to me, I just kind of ran with it, you know? I mean, one day I'm just joe blow, then some jackass launches a bottle rocket or some shit at me and boom! Here I am." He looks around the room and shrugs. "I s'pose while I'm here I should get registered and tested or something, make sure I won't suddenly explode or something. I know I'm going to want to test the suit out to make sure I don't burn it up or anything." He starts to dig in to his chili and nods. "Definately friggin' weird though, I got you there."

Blackheart came up for air. He wiped his face with a napkin. "Normally I'm not quite this bad, but I have a hand to regenerate. Some are heavy eaters, some aren't. Depends on how you're wired." He started ripping into another sandwich. "You'll see a lot of weird shit in this job, if you take it."

"If tonight's any indication, that's an understatement." He paused for a moment, unable to eat as the image of that one freak flashed through his mind. He shivered slightly as the thought flew by, then went back to devouring the food on his tray. "I'll admit, part of my uncertainty comes from my dad. He worked for the military, least that's the way I understood it. Some sort of thing I wasn't supposed to know about, but I did. I mean, he had some sort of cybernetic legs and hands and stuff. It was pretty obvious, you know. He died when I was pretty young..." He shrugged, a moment of somber reflection for a moment as he stared at his food.
"I'm probably going to join at this rate, but you know how it is, you wonder if it's the right choice, what if things were different, all that stuff. I think about all the different things that could have happened if I didn't get powers, I guess a lot of people do...not that it means much. Here I am and this is how things are. I've done good so far, but I know I can do more." He took another bite and gulped down some cola to wash it down.

"I'm not going to tell you how you should live your life," said Blackheart. "There are a lot of shitty things in this world and some of them are at this agency. For myself, the hand I'm dealt comes with what looks like an early exit and a bunch of nasty strings. So be it. I want to do something that matters before I check out, something I can point to and say 'I made the world a better place. My life mattered.' I've put a lot of bad people down, served my country and human beings all over the world. You're wary, and that's a good thing. Signing up with Ultima is a big decision. You should make it with both eyes open"

"Fair enough. I guess tonight counts for an internship or something at least." He gulped down a big bite of food, coughing a little as it went down. "So I guess I'll pick a brochure or something when we're done with the raid. It'd not like I'm in a rush to enlist. I don't suppose there's any sort of 'free agent' option, is there?"

"Right now your effectively deputized," said Blackheart. "Its still legal to be a costumed hero and not work for the government. Gravitas, who assists us regularly, is an independent operator. He's proven his good intentions and his value. If you're more comfortable doing that, it's not a problem. I'm not going to turn down your help when lives are at stake because you don't have the super duper secret decoder ring."

"Cool, cool. Though, costumed..." He laughs lightly as he tugs at his jeans and t-shirt. "I need a better tailor before I can really claim the title. I've been relying on my speed and shield to keep people from getting a good look at my face, but eventually that's not going to be enough I guess. This should help some," He motions to the gas mask, "but I don't think the press is going to be very concerned with on the spot reporting wherever it is we're going."
He laughed a bit more, then got serious, thinking more about the task at hand. "By the way, this mission, um, I've never had to, you know, really go all out in a fight before. I've always been worried about...well, killing someone..." He trailed off. A part of him knew he would have to eventually, and his powers were inherantly deadly when brought to their ultimate conclusion, but there was still something deep inside of him that didn't want to ever take things that far. After seeing that Freak that Blast had killed, the former aspect of himself was winning the argument, but not without a fight. "What happens...when that happens, you know?"

"Most people don't take it too well," said Blackheart. "I guess that's how it should be. Taking a life is a big thing. I would advise trying not to do it unless you have to. And if you think you have to, not second guessing yourself after. Easier said than done though. Full time head shrinkers are part of the package if you sign on and even if you don't sign on, you might want to think about seeing one if things get rough."

Hotfoot nodded and finished the last of the food on his tray. "Right. Thanks man. You know you're not so bad when you're stuffing your face." The young man managed a smile as he picked up his tray. "I'll try not to let you guys down tonight, and to further that goal, I guess I need to try this stuff on and make sure my shield doesn't mess it up too much." He hefts the hazmat gear in one hand. "Got a safe spot where I can give this a test run?"
