"Do not fear that I will go ... 'mushy', Blackheart." Argent answered from the shadows, having yet to emerge into the room. "From what I am seeing now, we are too weakened at the moment to attempt Raising Caine. Legacies was seriously injured. You and Gravitus are both missing limbs."

The silver eyes moved on the wall to watch Ryan/Ghost leave. "And that one has more need of the power ring than anyone one here." She added once he was gone. "His heart is strong, his talent is weak."

Again, the voice was calm and collected, her words logically rational. No trace of her emotions tainting the air within the room, something that her mere presence could do previously.

Ryan returned to the room and took his seat again. "So, are we still talking Freakshow or have we moved onto the demon business? Cause for that, I suggest getting a priest to bless a nuke and then nuke the site." He said.

"One, as Blackheart pointed out, we lack nuclear ordinance. Two, the amount of holy energy required to clear a large number of demons is beyond the ability of me to produce while still having a body. I daresay we won't find enough with a few excorcisms either."

"Wouldn't a priest blessing a nuke make it full of holy energy?" Ryan asked.

"No, ," said Blackheart. "It means a priest mutters a few words over it. Jesus fucking Christ. This isn't about the fairy tales you get told in Church, this is about manifesting fundemental powers of the universe. You want a blessed nuke, you need someone who can actually do miracles. Got one on speed dial?"

"Not that simple. Nothing ever is. You can't just toss a quick Sunday prayer over the thing and get a demonbuster; the Sunday prayer isn't meant to deal with demonic infestations. Plus, it's got to be focused." Gravitas replied. "It takes whole teams to perform excorcisms. And that's with a single demon, possessing. This is binding them into willing vessels. I know a little about that. It's hard to dislodge them."

Ryan grumbled. "Fine, I get it. Holy nukes are out, and so are normal ones. So, we need to go in swinging. The power rings would help. And I just got told that I need to accept bionic augmentations, or I get transferred out of the team. So, I guess when we go I'm going to be a little more useful."

"What?" said Blackheart, jerked out of the fantasy of a dozen priests jerking the space tumour out of his chest. If only it was that easy. "Transfered? Who the hell said that?"

"Bowman, I got the impression that this came from higher than him. I've been evaluated and while I provide a much needed skill set, I'm more of a liability than an asset. So, either I take the augmentations, or get sent packing."

"The schedule is accelerating." Gravitas frowned simply. "I'll need to revise my estimates." What the hell is he talking about?

"Bowman, who didn't bother to read his team leader's file?" Blackheart snickered. "And you've barely been in operation as part of this team. Someone else is jerking the strings. I can buy you time if you want it."

Ryan shook his head. "I'm going through with it. He was right, as is, I'm too weak for this team. I need a boost of some sort."

Ryan chuckled. "What else are they going to do? I'm too low powered to worry about as I am. I've put in years of service, so I don't think they are going to put some sort of mind control chip in me."

"You really haven't gotten alot of experience with these kind of operations, have you?" Gravitas tilted his head.

"What augmentations? That sort of thing? No, I don't. Never had a need for it. Up until I got transferred to this team, I was always intel gathering, or undercover work."

"No." Gravitas replied. "Operations like this one. You quickly learn that everyone's got an angle. Ideally, a team's angles all line up with the same end result, but beyond your team, be prepared for trouble."

"Augmentations... like the ones inside those who attacked us last night?" Argent's voice broke into the discussion, like a stone in the pond.

"Oh, that, yeah, I'm no stranger to the everyone wants something different. 12 years in the CIA, you get that. I'm sure they want something out of this. And I get something out of it. And I figure they are on the level, cause if they do something bad, I'm sure my teammates will avenge me."

"This team, ultimately, is expendable, my dear compatriot." Gravitas leaned back. "A cancer-infested agent whose probably on very, very few official lists. A man whose team is dead. A guy whose fused with an alien lifeform and primarily hangs around the lowest classes. Ex-criminals. A teenager just developping his power. And a vocal proponent of Meta rights who has alot of enemies."

A shake of his head. "We're expendable, to most. On the other hand, we know it, so we have the advantage."

"If you say so. Now, can we get back to the topic at hand, either Freaklegion or Raising Caine."

"I still say Freak Legion....but I'm biased. Besides, it'd be a good test to see if we can actually work together without killing each other, before we go against the demon breeders."

Though the helmet was looking towards the rest of the group, behind the blank - black faceplate, hi eyes strayed towards Argent, or the shadow she stayed in. He could still feel her though the link, but she was almost distant, o emotions leaked through...

"Besides, I need to work with Gravitas a bit before we can get the equipment. I hid them well, but it's been a couple years since I last been to check on them."
