So what's up with the PS3 hatred?

It doesn't really make a difference whether I go to TechReport, HOTU, or other gaming forums; the people there seem to hate PS3 so much. The question is why? What makes people hate PS3 with such passion?

Okay, the medium version, as telling the long story would involve you going "I REFUSE TO BELIVE ANY COMPANY IS THIS STUPID!"

Lets start with the side crap.

The rootkit debacle, "Users don't care they have a rootkit on their machine."
The PSP UDM(or whatever it's called) format, again pissing off customers.

Now lets start on the PS3.

From prerendered footage(Killzone2) while claiming it's real.
To the fake release dates that went from Spring 2006 to november 2006 in three differant forms.
From the price. And the casterated version that is ONLY 500USD.
To the massive list of issues.
To the price, where you're paying double an Xbox for the same features.
To the complete lack of killer titles during launch.
To the hordes of developers jumping ship to MS.
To the price, where you're paying SIX HUNDRED USD FOR AN XBOX360 WITH BLURAY.
To the....5 launch titles.
To the price...I think I've repeated myself enough.
The utterly idiotic controller, yay,lets throw away our RUMBLE feature because we refuse to license the patent.
And replace it with an obvious ripoff of the Wiimote, WHILE CLAIMING IT IS ORIGINAL.
To the price, for nothing.
For a completly idiotic 'Media center experiance' with a horrible UI.
Can I mention 600 USD some more?
The lack of HDTV cable included, meaning the "HDTV CONSOLE" can't output HDTV right off the bat.
Did I mention the lack of killer games?
The utter arrogence of Sony who went from 4 million consoles at launch, world wide, to 2 million in NA and Japan. To 1 million. To 500,000 thousand, at launch. While they actully shipped something closer to 300,00 thousand units.
Uh....Europe, we have forgotten you...

Well to be frank, I didn't quite follow the news in console realm, but I heard the low end version of Xbox is castrated as well. How bad the PS3 is, compared to the Xbox? (comparing both castrated versions)

As for the developer jumping ships, what made them to do so? I thought Electronic Arts is (supposed to be) still loyal to Sony.

Any news, link, etc you would reccommend? Thx.

Depends, to put it bluntly, anyone buying any castrated version is stupid, specifics are beyond my recall with no links. And I'm not capable of providing them now.

EA has never been loyal to Sony. EA is loyal to the marketshare, which means releasing everything on everything. Including trying to get Spore on the Wii.

Well, generally...Sony has NEVER been good to developers. I mean, not Nintendo bad, but pretty bad.
There are two key points in the jumping ship:
Dev tools. Sony = crappy.
MS = XNA/Visual Studio. If I need to say more...

Second, Sony was VERY slow in handing out contracts for PS3 games, they lost that way alot of exclusives like GTA and Assains whatever.

I get mixed reviews from the general populace, but I can tell you why I hate it. A $600 price tag does not bode well with a college budget.

cant see myself paying $500 for a console, i mean a computer yeah i'm willing to shell out a big chunk of change for but i go out of my way to keep that running well for many many years. Consoles? my biggest problem is i'm allways behind the curve every time i get a console its all ready out of date. that being said i have not really owned a console since NES. Heh my mom bought me a PS1 to make up for some stuff going to hell that year but she got it a month after the PS2 came out so i have all of 5 games for it and I only ever played one of them really.

My immediate gripe is that im on my second ps2 due to a failing reader lense. That coupled with what Ace Pace says... Im a big big fan of my ps2 and it's games but i dont see myself buying a PS3 anytime soon, dispite the purdyness =)

I'm not dishing out $600 for a system with so few games and such staggering needs; I'd need to dish out another ~$1000 to buy a decent HDTV just to get most out of the PS3's vaunted graphics. That, and I hate Blu-ray with a passion that borderlines on fanaticism.

But if they ever made a BloodRayne 3 I might, just MIGHT, reconsider.

Having a Wii and having access to a PS3 to play, let me tell you. Wii all the way. The PS3 has not impressed me in the slightest. Until the next final fantasy game comes out or some decent RPGs or games I actually might give a damn about, I won't even consider picking one up.

Nor, it seems, does the rest of the populace disagree with this.

At my local walmart there are 2 of them sitting on the shelves. Two PS3 swith the nice big hard drives, sitting on the shelves. For two days now. And there are no Wiis...

Indeed. We recently got a bunch of PS3's off the truck and I have yet to see ANY Wii's coming off. ANY. Ninty can't keep up with the demand.

EDIT: Add to that the fact that I once saw a young man carrying his PS3 back into the store to return it. Ouch.
