#1 The Librarian: Return to Solomon's Mines

Post by LadyTevar »

So, who else is looking forward to this sequel to The Librarian: Quest for the Spear?

The first one was a very good: a well-made B-movie Pulp Hero Romp, with the perfect blend of plot, comedy, and action. There is a reason the reviewers are comparing it to Indiana Jones, it truly did live up to that genre.

Some would call it cheesy, similar to the movie Romancing the Stone. The difference? The heroine isn't an idiot. The hero isn't an idiot either, just a likeable geek who'd spent far too many years soaking in academia instead of living. The way they play off each other helped make the first movie so enjoyable.

Nitram and I are both looking forward to the new one, on tonight at 8pm EST on TBS (Turner Broadcasting).

Hey! I LIKED Romancing The Stone. Not Indiana Jones material by any means but a perfectly enjoyable addventure/comedy combo (and I still fondly remember the F-16 car chase from the sequel, that was hilarious).

Made for TV movies = lame.
Never shall innocent blood be shed, yet the blood of the wicked shall flow like a river.

The three shall spread their blackened wings and be the vengeful striking hammer of god.

Thank you for your non-contribution.

I still just can't get over the Bob Newhart fight scene from the first one.

Don't fuck with Bob.

Sadly, no Newhart-fu this time.

I found it the lesser of the two. Not enough funny, not enough Newhart-fu, and the female lead was meh.
