Gaia grimaced and muttered, "We should make a strategic retreat, I'm going to signal the Courier ship in orbit and have us beamed aboard to get away from that... thing." It was times like this that she cursed her being built as a diplomat... having no onboard weaponry tended to be a rather large hindrance at times.

"Did you just say 'I say we take off and nuke the entire site from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.'?"

"Stop ignoring-" Khardem said to find his head with another bullet in it.

"Fuck me," he hissed after regenerating.

"Blah," Adam said to Gaia, "you can skedattle if you want. I want information from this dude."

"What, you going to sic your Destructionator on me again!?" Khardem spat.

"Shut the fuck up!" Adam says, once again shooting him in the head.

"Fuck me" Khardem hissed.

"Very well, I'm sorry our meeting had to be cut short, but I would indeed recommend 'nuking the site from orbit'," she replied before vanishing entirely. It wasn't like most teleports, most teleports featured puffs of smoke or silvery-blue sparkly lights or some other kind of special effect that would probably look straight out of a common Sci-Fi movie. This teleportation effect didn't waste time on special effects. In the blink of an eye, she was there and then she wasn't.

"So, asshole, give me one good reason not to take off and nuke the entire site from orbit."

"I'll kill you."

"Bzzt! Wrong answer," Adam says as he and the Lady start to pack their box back up.

"You can't leave me here!"

"Bzzt! Wrong again," Adam says as he disappears in a pillar of light.

Khardem looks up to see a small dot of light moving above him.

"Ohhhh SHIT!" he yells as a photon torpedo slams into the ground, atomizing him.

After the smoke clears, the scattered atoms again reform in the massive crater left behind, this time almost as he looked in his past life.

"Fuck me," Khardem hissed.

In space above, the A'millian ship moves to meet the Commonwealth ship to pass any final communications before going home, marooning the ex-Guardian on the planet, left for dead. Again.

"Have a good day... however our scouts have detected some odd emissions from around the local galactic cluster. We think it might be an invasion of biotech-using beings, but we're not actually sure. Mostly because our top scientists generally see biotech as a ridiculously stupid concept, but we thought it only fair to warn you," the Commonwealth vessel signalled finally before entering hyperspace.

Somewhere, in another universe....

"Ship's log. ASV Argo. Captain Ryan Harrison recording. After three yahren, we believe we have a way to get home, and were successful in stealing the needed device for this plan. But in the process, they captured a part of my crew who are to be taken to their interrogation centre on PWE-306, where this all begin. We are moving quick, blending in be damned, to rescue them, and after that, we run like hell, hopefully finally getting home."

"Here's the plan," Captain Harrison addressed his senior staff, "We move in under cloak to take up position here. From there, we launch a cloaked shuttle with our Marines, led by Sir Ericson to land here, outside the facility. They proceed on foot, get our men, and get out of there. Once we have recovered the shuttle, we set a course back for the disturbance that brought us here, and make our attempt to reopen it."

"And if it doesn't reopen?" an officer asks.

"We proceed at maximum warp toward Wivillia and don't look back."

"Wivillia!? First you maroon us here, then you blow our chances to hide-"

"That's enough, Lieutenant."

"No, it is not enough, sir! Your incompetence has been-"

"That is ENOUGH!" the captain fumed, pounding his fists on the table. "Do you think I like it here!? Do you think I want to be here any more than you do? I've been doing everything in my power to get us home - all of us, alive. All you've done for the last decar has been sit there and bitch!"

"You should have never brought us through that damned distortion!"

"The distortion allowed stable, two way travel when we went though," another officer chimed in, "we had absolutely no way of knowing what would happen. Now, your complaining isn't helping our situation at all. The captain's actions are. If it wasn't for him, we'd all have been dead when the Lightbringer found us!"

"What's done is done," a third officer adds.

"Oh, but what about now?," the brash lieutenant continues "Trusting the traitor, Ericson, to lead the rescue? How is that smart?!"

"You question my honour!" a tall man, with the long fingers and flat body of a biological A'millian angrily stands, staring the lieutenant straight in the eye.

"Gentlemen!," the first officer yells over the arguing, a phaser in his hand, "All of you, calm the fuck down."

"Forgive me, sir," Ericson says, sitting back down, a calm sweeping over him instantly.

"Lieutenant!"

"Yes, sir." he sits, still visibly angry.

"I'll have no further fights aboard my ship. Is that clear? Now, the captain was speaking."

"Yes," Captain Harrison said, "I understand we are all going through hard times here. Being alone in hostile territory isn't easy, and now to see your comrades taken. I know how you all feel, but if we are going to get out of this, we have to stick together. Now, Doctor Jansen believes he has a way to reopen the disturbance."

"Y-Yes, sir," Doctor Jansen raised to his feet, trembling with sweat rolling down his forehead, "S-studying the data we have from when we p-p-passed through," he stops for a moment to take a few deep breaths to calm himself, then continues: "I think I've found a way to artifically reopen the portal. E-elementary actually, using a device we lifted from the Science Ministry on the way out combined with our warp engines. We just need an hour at the coordinates to make it happen. I think."

"You think?" one of the officers asked.

"We've never tried anything like this.. the numbers run that is all we know."

"All right," the captain said, "it is the best we have. And if it doesn't work, we can still run to Wivillia. Sleep well tonight, tomorrow is going to be a long day. Dismissed."

On Tais II

The battle raged on. Deep within the base, the timers on the hellacious weapons counted down, each second that passed pulling the entire base, and indeed the uncaring planet, closer to cataclysm.

The average Zerg warrior strain was completely unaware of the coming destruction. Zerglings had no more on their mind than, "Find enemy, run up to enemy, viciously slice enemy to shreds with claws, repeat." Even most Hydralisks were no smarter than the average dog.

The one that approached the Dark Jedi had been alive comparatively long to its comrades, and even though there wasn't a great deal of intelligence in its breed, the last twelve years had instilled in it a great deal of respect for the different forms in which danger could come, and, even more importantly, myriad ways in which to avoid that danger, while dealing out the most damage it could.

The Dark Jedi raised his hand, a quick motion sending a nearby group of Zerglings flying back into the teeming masses of their fellow breeds. The Hydralisk hissed in alarm. This wasn't something it had seen for some time, not since fighting those accursed Protoss and their Templar. Fortunately, those same Templar had allowed the Zerg, and this Hydralisk in particular, to come up with ways to combat the psionically gifted.

He used one of those now. While the Darksider was occupied with tossing another group of Zerglings away from the group of defenders, the Hydralisk quickly slithered toward him. The Jedi almost instantly turned his attention toward this new threat, grabbing the Hydralisk in an unbreakable force grip and squeezing, squeezing. Despite the pain, the Hydralisk smiled, then opened his head chambers, sending waves of poisoned spines ripping through the Dark Jedi's body. His concentration broken, the waves of Zerglings were able to quickly overrun his position, slaughtering all.

The Hydralisk paused for half a second; a command was coming through. Despite the mindless savagery of the hordes, there were still quite cunning intelligences behind their actions, and they had noticed the subtle clues warning of the destruction of the base in less than five minutes. They had managed to capture and infect several key personnel, who then willingly gave up their secrets, including the exact location and disposition of the self-destruct mechanisms.

The Zerg that were closest to each location instantly stopped their advance, and raced toward the bombs; the Hydralisk was one of these. It turned, and, seeing that its normal slithering motion wouldn't be quick enough, used its spiny arms to quickly yank it down the narrow halls, ignoring several groups of entrenched Jaffa and guards, who were too suprised by the Hydralisk's appearance to do anything but snap off a couple of random and unaimed shots as it flew past them. Its distraction was co-incidentally and unfortunately enough for the groups of ravenous Zerglings to bound across the last few meters and offer them violent and horrible deaths.

The Hydralisk reached the sealed door to the chamber where the closest bomb was located. A pair of Zerglings had already reached it, and were using their razor sharp claws to slice at the durasteel behemoth. They were moving quickly, but not quite enough for the Hydralisk, who hissed in displeasure, then moved in to set its own powerful muscles against the task.

Within a few dozens more seconds, the door lay on the floor in shreds. Inside, the counter was ticking steadily down on the bomb, indicating only a scant few seconds left. With desperate speed, the serpentine monstrosity unleashed another cloud of needles, some of which managed to sever important wires, stopping the countdown with but seconds to spare.

Leaving the Zerglings, who the Hydralisk spontaneously named Basher and Crasher (the Zerg weren't known for their inventiveness; the fact that individuals were getting names at all was something unusual), to guard the room, the Hydralisk crept off, to help clean up the remaining pockets of resistance.

Actually, it had another motive: the powerful psychic signal that had lured the Zerg here in the first place.

Dark Silver wrote:The minister looked over one of his data displays, then back to the holocomm, "Lord Kreshna, the Science Ministry informs me you never responded to their request to send a survey and sample collection vessal to the SR-388 system in the Delta Quadrant of the Milky Way Galaxy....Please do so immediatly. It is priority Gamma-Epsilon. any findings is to be classified Omega level until such time as a ship may be dispatched from the home Galaxy to rondevous with your station." It wasn't a request, the Minister expected the order carried out.
Wait, Darth Kreshna thought, I thought I AM the Sith Lord here,.

He gave a wry smile. There WERE the days when a Sith Lord was feared throughout the Empire; more exactly, during the reign of Palpatine. Darth Vader only answered to the Emperor back then, and even an Admiral did not dare to question Vader, let alone ordering the Sith around. Darth Kreshna considered to use his Phoenix Force to strangle the Secretary of Defense to death, and the Secretary of Science too, but things were different now... Sigh....

Well maybe that's the price. After the Battle of Bilbringi, the (now) late Grand Admiral Thrawn --who also happened to be the man Kreshna respected so much-- came up with the idea of reforming the Empire, bringing back freedom and democracy in to achieve a more everlasting order throuhgout the galaxy. Thrawn was assassinated shortly after, but Darth Kreshna and Grand Vizier Sate Pestage decided to carry out the great man's vision. And it had been successful! The Rebel went into a total disarray after their goals suddenly became moot. Even the remaining rag-tag group led by Princess Leia decided to reconcile with the Empire after the end of the Empire/Guardian War.

The Sith replied, "with pleasure, Mister Secretary. The research mission will be conducted immediately. Now, if you excuse me."

After the Holo Conference was closed, Darth Kreshna poured himself a glass of Stolichnaya vodka with Cinzano Bianco and ice; he never loved dry vermouth anyway, especially when mixed with vodka. Oh, and those James Bond movies from Earth were wrong; vodka martini was supposed to be stirred, NOT shaken.

Despite his close friendship with Ra, the email was supposed to be official, so the Sith wrote as such while sipping his drink.

TO: His Excellency Supreme System Lord Ra of the Goa'ulds
FROM: Sith Grand Inquisitor Darth Kreshna of the Galactic Empire
CC: Imperial Department of Defense, Imperial Chamber of Commerce, Taim & Bak Incorporated
SUBJECT: Requisition Approval

Dear Sir,

It is with great pleasure to inform that your Purchase Proposal for GOC-14 Assault Rifle Module has been approved by the Imperial Department of Defense.

There are still two steps to complete your requisition, however. First, your Purchase Order is to be rewarded to Taim & Bak representatives for further proceedings, which I have taken the liberty to do so myself. Also, as the Imperial Viceroy of Milky Way Galaxy, it is my duty to review your Statement of Purpose, which as of today is still not on my office. So please send me the Statement of Purpose for my reviewing.

Cordially,

Darth Kreshna
Imperial Sith Grand Inquisitor, Prince of Byss, Archduke of Bilbringi, Honorary Baron of Naboo, Honorary Prince of Coruscant, and Imperial Viceroy of Milky Way

Darth Kreshna sent the email, then forwarded Ra's Purchase Order to Taim & Bak.

TO: Mr. Jonathan Stark, Head of International Sales, Taim & Bak Incorporated
FROM: Sith Grand Inquisitor Darth Kreshna of the Galactic Empire
CC: Imperial Department of Defense, Imperial Chamber of Commerce, Supreme System Lord Ra
SUBJECT: Fwd: Purchase Order

Dear Sir,

Attached is the Purchase Order of the Goa'uld System Lord Ra. The sales is to be proceeded immediately.

Cordially,

Darth Kreshna
Imperial Sith Grand Inquisitor, Prince of Byss, Archduke of Bilbringi, Honorary Baron of Naboo, Honorary Prince of Coruscant, and Imperial Viceroy of Milky Way

After sending the last mail, Kreshna lazily browsed through his inbox. There was an email titled 'Self Learning Book - be a Dark Jedi in a month!' which he quickly labeled spam. There was another email titled 'FREE Sith Cerfification Exam Materials', which he also labeled spam. But what made him almost laugh was another spam mail titled 'FORCE-EHNANCED PENIS ENLARGEMENT PROGRAM - SATISFACTION GUARANTEED!'

However, what made him really spill his vodka all over was the next email from Ambassador Kruger of the A'millans.
Destructionator XV wrote:"Sith Lord Darth Kreshna

In the name of the of Emperor Lord Adam the First of the A'millian Star Empire, we hereby request the immediate and complete disarmament of the super laser on this Death Star III.

Signed,
John I Kruger
A'millian Ambassador"
Darth Kreshna frowned. Somebody tell me what's going on, he thought. The A'millan Star Empire had been on good terms with the Empire, so the Sith failed to understand Lord Adam's blatant request. Besides, it was definitely an oddity for a less powerful country to outrightly ask a more powerful country to disarm its weapons. A disarmament treaty typically took months, or even years of negotiations and conferences, and now Lord Adam asked him to disarm the Death Star's superlaser just like that. Huh???

Was Lord Adam getting insane?

So after getting over the temptation to reply the email with 'ARE YOU INSANE' or 'GO FUCK YOURSELF', the Sith finally wrote his reply.

TO: His Excellency Ambassador Kruger of the A'millan Star Empire
FROM: Sith Grand Inquisitor Darth Kreshna of the Galactic Empire
CC: His Excellency Lord Adam of the A'millan Star Empire
SUBJECT: Re: Death Star Disarmament Request

Dear Sir,

It is unfortunate that we could not exercise your request. However, if Lord Adam wishes for a disarmament treaty, we pleasantly welcome His Excellency to arrange the conference aboard the Death Star. And yes, I said the DEATH STAR, motherfucker. A battlestation with superlaser powerful enough to vaporize A'millan Prime in seconds. Oh, and it's got about a hundred millions of Heavy Turbolasers so it can literally cut its way through the entire A'millan Starfleet like a hot knife going through butter. Is there anything you can do about that? IS THERE ANYTHING YOU CAN DO ABOUT THAT??? MUAHA-MUAHAHAHAHAHAA!!!!

Cordially,

Darth Kreshna
Imperial Sith Grand Inquisitor, Prince of Byss, Archduke of Bilbringi, Honorary Baron of Naboo, Honorary Prince of Coruscant, and Imperial Viceroy of Milky Way

The Sith considered his mail for a moment, pour another glass of vodka --this time without the vermouth, and erased the few last sentences from the mail. It now sounded like this:

Dear Sir,

It is unfortunate that we could not exercise your request. However, if Lord Adam wishes for a disarmament treaty, we pleasantly welcome His Excellency to arrange the conference aboard the Death Star. Also, let it be known that we really appreciate His Excellency's effort to achieve peace, stability, and harmony in this galaxy.

.....without all the flames. Of course an official, diplomatic letter could NOT contain flames. So the polite version was the one actually being sent to Ambassador Kruger.

After gulping his vodka, he made another email to issue the order to investigate the SR-388 system as requested by the Ministry of Science. Nothing fancy. An Interdictor-Class Picket Ship would serve the purpose; its gravity well projectors could be re-aligned to provide a makeshift gravity lab if necessary, and its electromagnetic generators were flexible enough to work with psychic signal generators.....

Hold on, psychic signal???

Darth Kreshna massaged his face. Tired. Nobody said that the phenomenon was related to psychic whatsoever. The psychic probe he and Detritus had experienced during the conference with Ambassador Namtaru surely had turned him paranoid. Psychic signal. Who ever mentioned about psychic? How did such thing come into my mind?

After issuing the order through the Death Star's Office Automation System, he decided to call it the day and take a hot dip in the bathtub.

But as the Sith finished his bath and took a valium, a name suddenly echoed in his Phoenix mind. A deja vu; a name that he never heard of before for sure, but keep sounding as if he had known the name before.

....This is some very intresting infomation, Jackson, where did you say you it from?

'He asked to be known as Mr Shine, M'lord'

Well well well... Well done on getting it anyway. thats not his actual name, but it does tell me who that man's boss was.

'Who?'

Mr Shine is a legend amongst the Trolls, or atleast he was, before the great ice age and our developement as a space faring speices.

'How can a troll be a legend even then? surely they would be dead by now?'

Oh, no. It's never the same one, it's a.. quirk of evolution. In those days it made him the king of all Trolls. Now he is a damn good spymaster. far more intelligent than even me.

Jackson gaped at his Lord. To think that someone was even more intelligent... he'd felt inferior anyway.

I shall send this off to Lord Kreshna as well. Drunkern ramblings are generally the most honest ones, after all...

'May I know what it said?'

Oh, well it was mostly about how the Zerg ambassador told our barman about his psychic abilities to inform his superior who he calls 'The Red haird Bitch' of what the situation is like here. She apprently is a powerful force in the Zerg hierarchy.

'And that tells us what?'

'It tells us our ambassador was far more simple than we thought. And he is a lightweight drinker when it comes down to 300% proof Imperial vodka.

'Most people are, sir!'

Indeed, I think this is a situation that requires someone who has utmost tact, the ability to think on ones toes, and a great big gun. Summon Commander Flotsam

'Good Grief!'

The base commander watched in terror as the autodestruct countdown suddenly froze in place.

"Auto-Destruct offline," the computer droned.

"What else can go wrong today?" the Jaffa muttered.

Just that moment, the massive doors to the control room burst open as an Ultralisk pummelled through, its tremendous bulk barely fitting down the base's wide corridors. Zerglings rushed under its massive feat, and despite the efforts of various Jaffa and guards, they were no match for the Zerglings ripping into them, or the hideously large blades on the Ultra's body, which decapitated or sliced cleanly in half several people as the monster thundered in.

The commander's last thoughts cursed how the Goa'uld - unlike the Imperials - loved to have such monsterously wide corridors.

* * *

The Dark Jedi operative Arany impassively waited as word of the disaster around him streamed over an increasingly nonfunctional com network. Various levels had fallen completely to the Zerg, the outpost was now completely occupied, and the autodestruct was now offline, ending any chance that their sacrifices would have some meaning.

Fireday - the massive, pulsing blob of flesh housing a misunderstood entity - was now the Zerg's. He could hear its slow, subconscious thoughts ebb through his mind, almost like a soft song. Arany had no idea who the Guardian was that his boss had imprisoned on that accursed rock, but he - she? - seemed to be content for some reason.

Perhaps the Guardian had other things to think about. Perhaps it was unaware of the carnage going on around it.

Or perhaps it was.

Arany pushed the thought aside as he wondered just how "worth it" this defense was.

* * *

The security operative Amion had considered his job with the Heliopolis Group just another line of work; the Corellian man had taken various security jobs around his home galaxy for years.

But Tais II had turned out to be a whole different matter. It would be his death, he feared. The lump paycheck he was sending his wife and children back on Corellia was about to be his doom. As Amion went cautiously down a corridor, leading his squad past dozens of dead human, Jaffa, and Zerg bodies, the atmosphere was eerily quiet. The only sound to be heard was the dripping of blood, puddling down on the floor around the remains of what had once been a Jaffa, his mangled body pinned to the floor by some severed blade-like appendage.

Pushing the image aside, Amion raised his blaster, breathing heavily as he stopped by the edge of a corner, and waited for his men to position.

"Now," he spoke.

The group swept out, their blasters raised just like had been practiced for years. Acquisition of targets was maximized, automatic, and deadly effective as they fanned down the corridor, pinning several Zerglings.

What Amion saw next shocked him.

A man ambled around the corner to him, his face tainted and changed somehow. The Jaffa's body was morphed and changed in hideous ways, new appendages growing out of it, and otherwise looking similar in ways to the Zerg that had been attacking them. Amion's best friend on that job was but a twisted and horrible image of his former self.

"Khahor, what in the nine hells did they do to you?!" Amion gasped.

"FOR THE SWARM," the infested Jaffa uttered.

He charged headlong toward his former best friend.

The Ambassador came back from his dinner to find Kreshna's message, and started writing another follow-up:

To: Dark Lord of the Sith Kreshna:

Your people claim to be committed to peace, and yet you keep a massive Weapon of Mass Destruction in full operation. Tell me, Darth, is this a diplomatic outpost of peace, or is it a military battlestation of an Empire? Are you committed to our peaceful future and continued prosperity, or are you committed to keeping everyone in this galaxy cowering in terror? Terror of becoming the next Alderaan?

High Orbit, Tais II

A flash of light signaled the return of Madar's shuttle to realspace, as the tri-winged craft hurtled into a high orbit over the planet. Madar sat in the cockpit of the shuttle, her mouth quickly gaping at what she saw.

"Reading hundreds of sensor contacts in orbit of the planet, ma'am," the pilot stated. "Has to be some kind of interference on our sensors."

Madar looked out at what looked like a dark cloud hanging over the tiny brown planet, and reached out with her senses, feeling them. By the hundreds. And through the same senses she channeled, they felt her right back.

"No, Captain, it's not interference," Madar said. Her voice was empty and filled with shock.

The deed was done. Faint traces of smoke could be seen over the Tais II outpost on the shuttle's screens, magnifying the base enough times to be easily seen.

"Bastards," Nica cursed, gazing over her superior's shoulder. "They could have at least warned us in time to actually do something about it."

"We still can," Buscan stated from the cabin door, a few feet behind the two women. "Take us down to the surface."

"Are you out of your mind?" Madar asked absently. "We're spies and assassins, not special forces. How many of my boys are dead already down there? Korsas, Sakura, Arany, In-Kas..."

Madar bit her lip in anger. Everything within her wanted to go down there and help. Every fiber of her being desired to rescue her men, or at the very least kill that Guardian before the Zerg could do anything with it. Madar's blood churned and boiled at the thought of massacring every last creature in that base. The Dark Side called to her, urged her to do exactly that.

But the rational side of Madar knew better. She would be torn to shreds by the hordes of Zerg now within the base, and be no better off than the operatives that were supervising security witin the base. She wasn't powerful enough.

She wasn't fucking powerful enough. Her powers were inadequate, if not insignificant. She fumed at that thought. Madar, leader of an elite section of Dark Side adepts, was not powerful enough to save her men. She had known each of them by name. Their faces, their attitudes, their ambition. There were few Dark Jedi within the Heliopolis Group's security force, not even a hundred of them.

And now four of them were dead. She wanted to be the heroine, but could not.

"Ma'am, several contacts are breaking off from the Zerg fleet," the shuttle's pilot advised.

"Take us out of orbit, now," Madar ordered. "Set course for Nyla VI and prepare to jump."

The pilot responded with a nod, and began manipulating his controls and entering computations. Madar crossed her arms, and put her hand to her chin, silently burning within.

"This will not happen again," Madar told herself. "I will be powerful enough. And the Zerg will pay many times over."

She continued staring darkly into space ahead as the shuttle arced away from the oncoming Scourge swarm, and leaped away into hyperspace, leaving the damned planet behind.

System I-1071
Adam's Command Ship
High orbit over third planet
Three days after Commonwealth meeting

OOC: Meteyre is present here if you want her to be, Jon.

"Sir, we've been examining the planet, and have come to some conclusions." an A'millian engineer briefed Lord Adam. "We are going to have to fix the plate control system to stabilize the volcanic activity. The system is jammed and damaged, but nothing we can't handle."

"An interesting fact sir," a geologist said, "is there is no evidence that a plate system needed to be installed in the first place. If it was never there, it is our belief that this planet would still be in good shape. Of course, now that the damage is done, we need it to fix it."

"Consistant," the Lady answered, "what we know of their history shows they liked controlling nature just for the hell of it, and that did them in."

"We have also examined the atmosphere," an other engineer brought up, "We installed a small converter in the biosystems lab, which is over eighty percent finished with the building's internal atmosphere. By tomorrow, that should be over ninety percent, and we can bring in equipment to open those doors. For the planet at large, once the volcanic activity is brought under control, we can bring in large scale conversion units and introduce life forms to accelerate the process. We estimate conversion can be complete in just five yahren."

"My people have collated geological, stellar, and chemical data from the planet sir," a chemist now spoke, "and were able to date the biological sample you brought back from the surface. It appeared to have died approximately three thousand, five hundred yahren ago, give or take about five hundred yahren."

"That is not nearly as old as I expected," Adam commented.

"We also finished mapping the planet's surface and the local system," yet another really smart guy spoke, "and have completed detailed scans of sixty percent of the planet. We have found many more structures, including cities, some destroyed by earthquakes, some in decent shape, and what looks like a magnetic rail spaceport system. We have probes examining the cities looking for computer data centres. We have already retrieved some books from these cities, as well. Linguistics and archaelogy are examining them as we speak, but the pages were in very bad shape, and we don't know how much we will be able to retrieve."

"Just five days and you've gone so far. You gentlemen do good work," Adam said.

"The tactical situation, sir," an officer from the Fearless now spoke, "has been relativly uneventful. We set up warning probes in positions throughout the system, and are starting to deploy orbital defences now. The Goa'uld ships here left in quite a hurry a couple days ago for unknown reasons, and the Jaffa advisors have said very little, but we've no reason to believe anything is wrong here. The Goa'uld commander had no objections to our orbital platforms plan before his ships left."

"Outstanding."

Somewhere in another universe.....

A rustling of leaves and wildlife running through the night was the only sign that a cloaked shuttle was landing on PWE-306. The sound of a hatch opening could be heard, and warriors from the Argo seemingly materialized out of thin air and moved forward into the trees.

Leading is the alt-universe A'millian Knight, Sir Ericson, following him are four of Argo Marines, camouflaged such that they are barely visible amongst the trees, and behind them, two Marines in full powered armour. On the shuttle remained the pilot and two more powered armour wearing Marines, inside the cloaking field.

The camouflaged men, including the Knight, started to move further and further ahead of the powered armour men, according to plan. While the powered armour offers amazing protection among other benefits, the heat it generates also easily stands out on infrared scanners.

Sir Ericson explained most the defenders on the planet would be natives: humans, not amazingly well armed. It was not until they entered the compound where they would have to deal with the A'millian defenders, who would be the real challenge.

The point Marines encounter a native patrol with their night vision, and in muffled snaps, the patrol was felled before they had any idea what hit them. The point men set up decoys on the detection units and deactivate booby traps, and the powered men follow.

They easily make it to the perimeter of the compound without being detected.

The two powered men and two of the camo men wait back out of sight and prepare their weapons. The others move up, short circuit the intrusion detection system, and slip in through the darkness.

Carefully avoiding guards, they make their way to the prisoner barracks, and notice the door was locked with a sophisticated biometric lock, but Ericson anticipated even this.

He steps around the corner, revealing himself to the guard.

"Halt! Who are you?" the native guard demanded.

"Just have to get him to talk a little more" Ericson thought, and spoke: "I am Corporal Ericson. Governor Adam sent me to assist interrogate the prisoners."

"I've never seen you before. What's your operating number? I'll have to clear it."

"Fool!" Ericson thought as he registered the man's voice.

"Open the door," Ericson commanded, carefully pitching his Voice in a deep pattern.

The guard found himself obeying before his conscious mind even realized what he was doing. When he did realize what he was doing, he reached for his radio, but was killed by Ericson instantly before he could get to it.

The door unlocked, the men enter to find their crewmates, and one other familiar face. It looked like Lord Adam, but with a menacing goatee. The alternate universion version of their King, here a vicious planetary governor.

Governor Adam looks and immediately recognizes the intruder, sounding the alarm in a move faster than the eye could see.

At the sound of the alarm, the Marines hiding outside open fire. Rocket propelled grenades from the powered men instantly land in the guard towers, slaughtering all inside. The camouflaged men on the ground flick a switch on their belts, feeling their body shield deploy and rapidly fire off well aimed shots, picking off dozens of the native defenders in seconds.

These natives were slaughtered by the Marines almost as fast as Jaffa are slaughtered by SG teams.

Inside the prisoner barracks, the prisoners start flowing out covered by the Marines while Ericson kept Adam busy, both perfectly utilizing the Prana-bindu training they received as Knights combined with the biological advantage of being A'millian to control each individual muscle in their body, allowing them to move in ways that even Jedi think are impossible, thinking faster than is humanly possible to anticipate and make the right move.

The Marines put themselves between the fleeing prisoners, allowing any shots coming their way to bounce harmlessly off their body shields as they started disappearing into the forest.

"Die, traitor!" Adam sneered as he tried to drive his knife into Ericson. Ericson, using his musclar control, 'slides' past the knife, getting behind Adam and allowing the stab to bounce harmlessly off his shield at the same time. In an instant whirl of robes, the planetary governor spins to meet Ericson, a fireball forming at his hands.

Just at that moment, a Marine returned, his weapon putting several bullets into the goateed Adam. He abandons the fireball and starts casting cure magic on himself, but the distraction was enough for Ericson to take advantage of.

"Yippie-ki-kay, motherfucker!"* Ericson says as he jams his knife through the bottom of Adam's mouth, the blade penetrating his brain.

The severely wounded A'millian started to transfer neural functions to undamaged parts of his brain when another batch of bullets made sure the goateed version of their esteemed leader was dead.

The men started to leave the compound to meet the others, being persued hotly, their body shields shimmering as they stop bullets and energy beams from doing any damage.

They run back to the shuttle and once everyone was aboard, slam the door shut and take off, still taking small arms fire from the ground despite being cloaked.

They blast off, dodging random anti aircraft fire from the ground and make a hot landing in the Argo's shuttlebay. As soon as the shuttle is secure, they punch it to warp speed, course set for the subspace disturbance that brought them to this universe.

Nyla VI Goa'uld Imperial Naval Installation

Madar stormed down the expansive corridors of the Nyla VI base, her eyes cold and hard as stones. She bowled through an entire formation of Jaffa marching down the corridor, shoving them out of her way as she made it into the base's giant control center.

Ra stared impassively at a screen, completely ignoring Madar's presence. As the Dark Jedi fumed, and stepped closer, she saw the displayed text:

Imperial Sith Grand Inquisitor, Prince of Byss, Archduke of Bilbringi, Honorary Baron of Naboo, Honorary Prince of Coruscant, and Imperial Viceroy of Milky Way
The irony was immense. The very reason Ra had bought the Gun of Command was to control a Guardian Core. And now, far off on Tais II, the Core was now all but in the Zerg's posession, as operative Arany stood alone in that deserted lab, with hydralisks, infested humans, and zerglings staring him down with a primal look in their eyes. And the worst part; he wasn't even all that motivated to go down in a blaze of glory. He just stood there, the immense event that had transpired around him leaving the Dark Jedi baffled.

The very shadowy purpose Ra had pulled so many strings to buy the Gun were now irrelevant. He sat there, and even started to chuckle out of desperation. For once, Ra didn't know what to do at all.

"She told me," Ra giggled.

"You just got blatantly invaded by a foreign power who knew of a secret base despite all precautions, lost a Guardian entity, numerous examples of their technology, six Terran Mark-IX Gatebusters that failed spectacularly to destroy the base, hundreds of personnel, and I just lost four of my people, and all you can do is LAUGH ABOUT IT?" Madar yelled.

"What the hell else am I supposed to do, Madar?" Ra asked her honestly. "What else can I do?"

Madar was silent, but her gaze softened up slightly.

"Deploy a battle fleet and make them pay ten times over? The others would wonder why I'm pushing that much into an allegedly 'fringe sector'."

"Invade in return? It would look like aggression, because of having to cover this disaster up."

"There has to be something you can do," Madar uttered. "You can't deny this whole thing forever. Someone is going to find out. Especially once the Zerg start playing with the box of toys they snatched from you, and start killing trillions. If the Zerg are this wantonly aggressive all the time, then sir, the galaxy as we know it is fucked."

"Maybe you're right," Ra sighed. "But I'm still going to keep this under wraps as long as I can."

"You can still confirm the invasion without revealing too much then," Madar said grudgingly. "Keeping with your typical secrecy about what's out there. Confirming invasion would keep people from suspecting the system has significance. In fact - damn, I don't want to be your political advisor..."

Ra then finally looked at her, and said, "Actually, I'd like to keep hearing what you have to say."

Madar blinked, and continued, "In fact, make a press conference immediately. Tell the public that your space has been invaded, because of - what does Tais have besides that damn base?"

"A massive naquada deposit on Tais III, which I landgrabbed after the war," Ra stated.

"Perfect. They went on a resource raid, because their other planets are running low," Madar stated. "It's still an invasion, however. Give them an ultimatum, and if the Zerg don't leave your space, start a total mobilization, and make them pay. You pose as a GOD, for fuck's sake!"

Madar then leaned closer, over to his ear, her eyes glinting sadistically, and she seethed, "Act like one."

"I may not be powerful enough, but this jackass has a star fleet," Madar thought gleefully. "Vengeance."

Ra was almost delighted by Madar's sudden bloodlust. She had a truly hungry look in her eyes, a look that he would normally identify with sex drive. But Madar didn't want sex, she wanted death. Lots of it.

But Ra was scared.

"I'm not going to invade," Ra stated.

Madar reeled back, her eyes seeming to flame with hellish anger, as if a demon were inside the woman standing before him.

"What?" Madar snapped.

"My forces aren't ready for a full mobilization, Madar!" Ra snapped back. "Why do you think I was doing Fireday in the first damned place? I'm still recovering from my losses to the Guardians!"

Madar glared.

"I'll blame the incident on a rogue brood," Ra said, looking off into space. "Still the same story, but it'll avoid publically accusing Namtaru's folks of an act of war. Plausible deniability, covering both of our asses until I get ready to kick their's."

"You're a coward," Madar raged. "You faint before a blatant attack on your territory, unmitigated theft of your property! You flee from your passion, and fear it! You fear everything but maintaining your own little neat order of things. Fool. My friends are dead! My passion urges me to make the Zerg pay ten times over! But you want to hide under your bed!"

Madar swooped away from the Goa'uld, wiping her face in anger. There was something increasingly primal and instinctual about Madar's mannerisms, as the Dark Side swept over her like waves, fueling her with unnatural strength and will. Ra was nailed into the back of his seat, and felt even somewhat afraid that she was going to throttle him.

"That damned elf made you soft, Ra!" Madar snapped. "She came preaching her beautiful ideals of order, suppression, respect, all that shit, and you lost the ruthlessness that is required in an absolute ruler, and demanded in a GOD. Ra, you pathetic worm, if you had one ounce of ruthlessness in you, I would not DARE to stand before you and shout you down! You would have me killed for daring to oppose your will!"

Ra's eyes were wide with shock, and the Goa'uld was completely unable to respond. He only listened to his Chief of Security rave on.

"I will tell you right now, you petulant businessman masquerading as a leader of worlds, that if you ever hope to survive the kind of ruthless and unchained wrath I saw over Tais II, you had best change. The Zerg are everything you are not. Whoever pulls the strings within the Zerg hierarchy will see your cowardice, and roll over your precious empire like an unstoppable plague."

"Is that all, Madar?" Ra practically muttered.

"Yes," Madar said. She gave Ra one last angry look, and stormed out the room. Her exit from the room seemed to be accompanied by the air cooling down immensely. Ra wiped his brow finally, realizing he had been sweating violently under her stare.

Daroch felt a blast of pain from a sudden headache. The kind of headache that comes chiefly from a disturbance in the Force. It was as if a single System Lord had been struck with an unearthly terror and consequently silenced... the Jedi feared that a woman had been scorned. Shaking the headache off, he continued on to the apartment, stepping over debris in the abandoned building on his way.

Weaponsfire had pockmarked the walls and destroyed furniture. There were even lightsabre slashing marks on the walls. His wife, and three children, had been killed here. He saw the corpses of the twin boys - or what remained of them. He saw what remained of his wife, a rotted and scorched skeleton - through the Force he felt that they had died there. But he didn't feel the echoing death of the eldest child - his young daughter.

Or at least she had been young when the Empire had come around knocking on the door, along with an Inquisitor - and inquisitors could clearly have sensed the inherent Force affinity of his children. She was nine years old at the time, ten years ago. It struck him suddenly that perhaps she wasn't dead. The thought filled his heart with hope, and then also with dread.

What if they've turned her...?

Subsequently, he bolted out of the apartment and made his way down the Coruscant street, mission for the Commonwealth having been long forgotten. He would have to later apologise, but he had a more important matter to deal with now... his daughter was alive.

Astroid base
Flotsam with a dozen Slayers walked down the hallway to the trasmat room, about to beam back to the astroid base, He had been gone for nearly 4 months with Battlefleet Goliath. He wanted to get down to his apartment, get this damn armour off and head down to the pub, bugger the breifing. He was afterall in charge whist Detritus was on the DSIII.

He was about to hit the confirm button to send him down, but a ensign hurried towards him, clearly hesitent about disturbing the commander.

'Sir! We just got an urgant transmission form the Deathstar, your to do a breif re-supply here, and then take the fleet to the battlestation.' He gasped for breath, clearly scared about the reaction this would get. 'By order of Lord Detritus, you have been made the Military Liason with Lord Kreshna'

What?! Is he mad? He looks at the data pad that's been handed ..Whats this about a full fleet mobilisation? What does he know that we dont?

'I don't know sir, though from what I hear there is to be a mass activation of the L-space fleets'

Bloody hellfire.Alright, get the resupply going, we leave as soon as that complete.

'Aye commander'

DSIII

Detritus tapped his fingers on the rip of desks, leaving several dents. He makes his mind up and activates the the system which would ensure all trollish forces were to be put on maximim alert. He had done it now, several million warriors would now be resoring the L-space fleets to full power.

With that done, he opens a link to the quaters of Lord Kreshna

Kreshna, I have just given the order for a full re-activation of the fleets currently anchored in L-space.This was because of information received from my spy network. It seems that the Zerg ambassador found out in the last day or so of a massive operation into territory held by Lord Ra. As yet I do not know what has come from this, since I have not seen Ra in a number of days. I am sending the data to you now. Ignore the more the drunkern ramblings and you will see his seem quite amused by the prospect of people getting annialated.

I have also orderd Commander Flotsam to come here and be a military liason between us. I will not deploy my fleets outside of my territory as yet, unless there is a dramatic chnage in the situation.

OOC: an Interdictor-Class Picket Ship is what was wrongly dubbed 'Interdictor-Class Cruiser' in the TIE Fighter computer game. Read Curtis Saxton's website for more information.

=========================================================

In space...

The dagger-shaped, 600 meters-long Interdictor-Class Picket Ship Investigator cruised serenely through space. It carried a lot of scientists, engineers, and technicians, with necessary amount of military personnel to ensure the safety of the science team. Its destination: SR-388 system, the Delta Quadrant of the Milky Way Galaxy.

The team was not quite sure what were they supposed to investigate in the SR-388 system anyway, and Moff Ronald McKenzie did not give a clear explanation about what they were going to encounter either. However, the Moff repeatedly emphasized the top secret nature of their mission. Rumors said that even Darth Kreshna was being pressured to accept the mission, so it almost every members of the team shared the common belief: there was something really BIG is going on.

The Picket Ship continued to its destination......

=========================================================

Aboard the Death Star...

Darth Kreshna was still in a little bit hangover for the morning. Weird, he thought, I AM sure I wasn't drunk last night.

No, it wasn't the drink, it was something else. His sleep was severely disturbed; there was something sub-consciously poking at his mind. A name. A name that was supposed to be important for him, but how?

Kerrigan.

Who the fuck is Kerrigan? The Sith thought uneasily.

But as Kreshna lazily ate his breakfast, he suddenly remember something: Kerrrigan was the name of the Zerg head of the state. Of course, the Sith was unaware at that time that Kerrigan was a very powerful telepath, so he was still clueless about the situation.

An officer approached him. "Sir, the intelligence just sent you a report."

"Don't you see I'm having breakfast?" the Sith Inqusitor replied with his mouth full, but he then continued while wiping the egg crumbs off his mouth, "never mind. Okay, what is it all about?"

"Uh, Sir, the intelligence said it was highly confidential, and urgent."

After the officer saluted and left, Kreshna opened the envelope. Much to his surprise, the large envelope only contained a small holodisk. Frowning, he inserted the disk into his PDA and wore the earphone.

And what he saw almost made him spill his breakfast all over.

It was a ultra high resolution sattelite recording, gathered by the hyperspace sattelite (hyperspace orbiting scanner) on the planet Tais II. The recording showed a Zerg attack --a fierce Zerg attack at the Goa'uld secret base on the plant. Darth Kreshna watched the recording in horror as Goau'ld troops and civilians alike were being maimed by the ferocious Zergs. And those creatures... Those particular type of Zergs that shooting some kind of acid from the distance; they bore a really disturbing resemblance with Ambassador Namtaru.

And then the recording stopped abruptly, replaced by the close-up image of an Imperial intelligence officer. The officer spoke:

"....and that was the Hyperspace Sattelite recording until the sattelite was destroyed by an exploding Ha'tak, milord. I apologize that we don't have more information, but we are still gathering even now. We have launched more probe droids, spy planes, and hyperspace sattelites...."

After the recording ended, Darth Kreshna contemplated for a moment. He suddenly slammed his fist on the table and punched a button on his intercom, "Get me Ambassador Namtaru, NOW!!"

He then took two aspirin, trying to calm himself. The Zerg is a newcomer in this galaxy, and it's been no more than few days since they introduced themselves, and now they have commited an unprovoked aggression? How about peace and stability we have been striving for since the end of the Guardian War? the Sith was thinking with rage.

After swallowing two more aspirin, his intercom beeped. Now I DO hope it is Namtaru, since I need to teach the insolent insect a lesson or two.

Apparently, it was not. "Sir, Lord Detritus is on-line".

Kreshna took a deep breath, and punched the button. The Trollish Emperor appeared through the Holo-Phone:

On the first time in the morning, Darth Kreshna actually smiled; he always liked Flotsam. The Trollish Commander was an ass-kicking soldier for sure, but he was also a good drinking buddy with an (un)healthy sense of humor that actually fit the Sith well. He still remember the first fistfight against Flotsam, followed by an arm-wrestling match after the Guardian War ended (which was won by the Trollish Commander, actually). And of course, everytime he drank with Flotsam, it was usually followed with a bar brawl, and of course, after a whole boring day of diplomatic talks and formalities, nothing beat a bar brawl.

"Glad to have Flotsam as the military liason, he's always a jolly good chap," the Sith replied, then his face became stern, "and yes, I have heard about the Zerg invasion too, and have called Ambassador Namtaru for explanation. Goddammit, they are newcomers in this galaxy, and they have made themselves aggressor literally overnight! I suggest we publicly condemn this attack, as well as making an official ultimatum of total embargo if the Zergs decide to press on. What do you think, Lord Detritus?"

A full embargo would seem to me to be the best way forward, any other hostile action will involve me personally inserting a rather pointed vibration device up whatever part of the ambassadors body is considered to be a rectum. I feel this would be an excellent time for experiments on what levels of pain they can take.

Detritus looks over at a display nearby

Battlefleet Goliath will be here inside of 12 hours, Flotsam will report to you as soon as he arrives.

Public Press Conference, Nyla VI

As Madar had suggested, Ra had decided to call for a public press conference, to be broadcasted galaxy-wide. It was a timely decision, as Ra felt some might already know about the disaster on Tais II. While his plan had destroyed the hyperspace probe, it may have gotten off millions of images before being pulled out of hyperspace and destroyed.

"Ladies and gentlemen, the Supreme System Lord," a Jaffa officer announced.

Ra stood, applauded as usual. He waited, and finally raised a hand, and began his speach. Standing alongside Ra was Madar, who was now in full bodyguard attire, dressed in a business suit and wearing sunglasses. Buscan and Nica were elsewhere in the building, blended in with the crowd. Madar thought how ironic it was that Ra still trusted her as his henchwoman and bodyguard, even though she was probably the most likely person to kill him at that point.

But that would have been pointless. Madar brushed the thought aside as Ra started his cowardly speach.

"Thank you, ladies and gentlemen," Ra stated. "Today sees strange events within the Goa'uld civilization, events that will soon be dealt with in the strength and decisiveness for which we are renowned.

Seventeen hours ago, a fleet of Zerg jumped into the Tais System, along our borders, destroying a small outpost there and setting up mining operations to exploit the system's mineral wealth. Despite my initial beliefs, highly credible intelligence sources have told me that this Zerg force is a rogue brood which has acted without the consent of their government.

And in the interest of maintaining peace and goodwill within the Galaxy, the Goa'uld will continue to maintain its status of diplomatic relations with the Zerg nation."

Madar's face contorted subtly, and she felt like throwing up all over Ra's cowardly body. He was in full "politician" mode, and it sickened her.

"That does not, however, mean this rogue brood will go unpunished. As I speak, a taskforce is being assembled at this naval base to proceed to the Tais System. To that rogue brood, I am giving you twenty-four hours to leave our space, or you will be destroyed. If resources are truly what you've come for, then we would be happy to trade you them through legitimate means. Stealing them will only incur our anger.

Do you have any questions?"

In the back of his mind, Ra thought he heard a woman laughing. The Goa'uld tried not to show his concern, but did sweat under his embarrassment.

"Their leader is a telepath, you fool," Madar telepathically shouted into his mind. "That's how they found Fireday in the first place. SHE found it!"

"I want to meet with her, and very soon," Ra thought darkly. "This isn't going to continue."

"Meet with her," Madar mocked. "You should drive a nice missile right up her ass, but you're afraid."

"She'd probably like that," Nica added with a laugh.

"Whore," Madar laughed.

"You know me," Nica answered.

"GAH! Get the fuck out of my head!" Ra shouted.

"Suit yourself. Fool," Madar huffed.

Darth Kreshna grinned with satisfaction, "agree. Any further aggression would really compel me to order some Base Delta Zero at the Zerg's worlds. Oh, and of course you're welcome to join."

His face became serious again, "dammit, I really don't understand what's going on, Lord Detritus. We have been striving for peace since the end of the Guardian War; before the Zergs, we have been living peacefully side-by-side. We have enjoyed few short years of economic cooperations, joint researches, trade agreements, and even student exchanges, and now the Zerg is threatening what we have been building so far. I don't understand what the bloody hell is going on anymore."

"Great. I also suggest we both perform a joint combat training near Zerg borders; a full-scale fleet training to show our muscle to the Zergs. Perhaps it will make the Zergs think twice before committing any further aggression. What do you think?"

So be it. If saying "NO" means being alone, then to hell with love, with romance, with marriage, and all the shit life keeps pumping at me. I'll walk alone, but with freedom and a healed pride.

Agreed, if a large military force preforming wargames isnt a clear warning, I have no idea what is anymore, probably nuking a planet is considered a polite cough...
