Heroes: Shadows over Millenium

Em looked around as the tremors hit. -Great half the team is still smashed.- She grabbed a glass and filled it with very cold water. Ryan was leaving to check his radio. "Hey, you realize that there won't be any reports yet. Nothing more than tremors have been reported. But we could go check it out really quick, to see if it's something the police can handle on their own. Lei and I could get there and back before you even got to your car." She looked at Lei, "Wanna go Lei?"

[Agent Fisher]

Ryan had reached the door. He turned back to Em. "You can check the entire city before I could even get to my car?"

[LadyTevar]

"Perhaps you have had too much to drink, Em," Lei sighed. "We do not even know where the tremors came from, so how can we check it out?" But Lei was smart, looking to Blackheart. "I'm guessing that you might have something from Ultima that could give us an idea if we're needed?"

But her eyes drift over to the drunken Saibot, sadly realizing that there would be no help from him in this.

[Agent Fisher]

Ryan chuckled. "Well, if you need me, I'll be down at my car." He opened the door and walked down the hall towards the elevator.

He reached the ground floor and headed out of the building towards his car. He opened the driver's door and seated himself. Ryan turned the battery on and turned on the radio, scanning for any trouble.

Avatar felt the tremors very easily

"These arent right... no nearby fault-lines... Unless a new impossible hot-spot volcano is going active in this area..."

He lept out the fire-escape and focused air pressure around himself to get up and get a better vantage point

He saw no huge explosions, fireballs, Tsunamis, or Asteroid impacts. He decreased the air pressure around him and drifted back to the window

"No explosions, no asteroid impacts within visual range"

Blackheart had a few nasty pleasures and one of them was being almost hangover proof. It was nice to be as fit as a fiddle after a night of hard drinking. He finished the glass of cranberry juice he was guzzling down and activated his earpiece. "Listen up. This is probably artificial and that means probably very localized. Look for property damage nearby. That's where we want to go."

Lei was slowly trying to get her bearings, to get a mental map of the city in her mind. Not natural tremors means meta. Early morning is one of the times she'd chose to hit a place, because not a lot of people are around this early, and the shadows are very long from the low morning sun. Two plus two in her theiving mind equals...

"Blackheart? I'm not sure of this neighborhood... are there any banks or jewelry stores nearby?" And she hoped that Blackheart did not ask why her mind twisted that way.

[Cynical Cat]

But Blackheart did know why her mind twisted that way: she was not a moron. "Yeah," he said. He tapped his earpiece. "List coming up in a few seconds. Including a very big bank not very far away." He extended his arm. "Shall we?"

[SirNitram]

"Let's go see what can be seen. I'll take aerial recon, I guess." Gravitas wrapped himself in a cocoon of shaped spacetime and lifted up, watching the ground not with eyes but with the endless tendrils of gravitational interaction, watching for the source of the small quakes.

[LadyTevar]

"For the record... my money's on the bank building." Lei answered, wrapping herself in shadows briefly. Jeans and the "hello Ninja" t-shirt dropped to the floor, and then the shadows parted, revealing her fully dressed in her costume. Then she took Blackheart's arm. "Teleport, or are we flying?" she asked a little nervously. She was still getting used to someone else flying her.

[Cynical Cat]

"Teleport. Less chance of them seeing us coming and a if they start doing mean things I can graciously play human shield."

[Comrade Tortoise]

Avatar allowed himself still levitating to slip into a trance and establish a telapathic link between himself, and Peregrine falcons in the area. (not enough to cause undue stress and such, and the numbers are maybe in the low double digits, but they nest on buildings which makes them sensitive to tremors

He picked up a lot of squawking, and kawing, and angry angry raptors. But one was especially angry. The tremors were so close that she got showered with glass and her nest, complete with offspring, had been knocked off the ledge she had taken up residence on

"I think I narrowed it down. Where is that bank you mention?"

[LadyTevar]

"Teleport. Less chance of them seeing us coming and a if they start doing mean things I can graciously play human shield."

"Problem." Lei answered. "I can only teleport to where I've been. This isn't my normal haunts... I didn't even know there was a bank here. Flying might be better."

[Agent Fisher]

Ryan heard the dispatcher on the police band on the radio. "459S at Millenium City Bank and Trust. Nearest units respond. ESU standby."

He turned on his earpeice that he had been issued. "Boss, this is Ryan, we got a silent alarm going off at Millenium City Bank and Trust. I'm heading over there now. ETA ten minutes."

He turned the car on, buckled his seat belt, hit a switch to start his lights and sirens going and pulled onto the street, heading for the bank.

[Cynical Cat]

"They've got heavy gear or powers of some sort," Blackheart responded. "Don't play cowboy until you get back up." He extended his hand to Lei. "I won't drop you, but most people find it reassuring to get a strong grip on my arm as well."

[Agent Fisher]

"Understood. Will advise when I get there."

[LadyTevar]

"As you wish..." Lei answered, tightening her grip. "Ready when you are."

[Cynical Cat]

Blackheart exited the window, carrying Argent with him. He headed for the bank, looking for a good spot to safely drop her off.

[LadyTevar]

"When we get close, I can fly on my own, Blackheart... I just have a limited range. Once inside I can travel the shadows anywhere within." Argent informed him, since they were still learning each others abilities. Teamwork depended on knowing how your partner worked... perhaps this team will get that good someday.

"Is there a plan?"

[Cynical Cat]

"Find out what's going on. Tremors are usually a bad sign. Then me make a plan that isn't totally stupid."

[SirNitram]

"Stupid plans should be avoided." Gravitas spoke through the comm, assuming he had been given one. "What say I draw a little fire when we get there? No offense, but I am rather good at not dying. I've made a lifetime out of it."

[LadyTevar]

Argent gave Blackheart a sideways glance, even as Gravitas made his offer to be Meatshield. "Great plan..." she siad, somehow managing not to sound sarcastic, nor mentioning how it sounded like something Saibot would do. "I'll stick to the shadows, then."

A sudden thought. "If there's hostages... do you want me to remove them?"

[Cynical Cat]

"Yeah. A fight with these guys is likely to be heavy on the collateral damage. Gravitas, your plan is a go. I'll be your back up, because I can take it and dish it out as well if things go pear shaped. Lei, get Ryan for your recon jump. Invisible boy will be much more useful sneaking around inside with you and tipping us off about nasty surprises."

[LadyTevar]

Argent nodded. "I think we can handle that." She tapped her earpeice. "Got that, Vanishing boy?" she asked Ryan. "Let me know when you're in position. I'll need where the hostages are, and where the closest shadows are."

Then she looked back to Blackheart. "Where do I drop them off, boss-man."

[Agent Fisher]

"Got it. I'll be there soon. Oh, and I'm forty years old. I'm not a boy." He leaned on the gas, the roads where remarkably clear. He picked up the radio unit and spoke into it. "Dispatch, this is Ultima Bureau Agent Daniel Ryan. I am enroute to check out the 459S. Requesting ESU deploy to scene. Over."

"Ryan, Dispatch. Understood. We are dispatching ESU."

"10-4."

He arrived near the bank two minutes later. He jumped out of his car and headed around to his trunk. Opening it, he pulled off his shoes and pants, replacing them with boots and urban pattern fatigues. He reached in and pulled out his thight holster. He strapped it on and removed his shoulder holster and placed his pistol in the holster on his thigh. Ryan grabbed his vest, put it on and secured it. Finally, he opened the locked case which held his assualt rifle. He cycled the bolt to make sure it was in ready and loaded a magazine. He did a final check to make sure he had all his gear.

He tapped his comm. "Boss, this is Ryan. I'm about a block away. I've contacted the MCPD and they are deploying ESU for our backup. And I'm ready when shadow lady is."
