Say by grabbing your heart. The other aspect of his powers was a powerful dampening field, capable of reducing, for example, my attacks from a few hundred G to a fraction of one. Quite a dangerous opponent." Gravitas explained. Funny, since he came in halfway. "Also was into summoning creatures."

A glance over to Em. "I could try crafting some kind of defense against external influence. It's been..." A wince. "...Too many years since I tried that, though."

"The Astronomer gained power by torture..." Lei added, speaking to Kyosuke. "And he was working with ones ... tainted by demons." -like you think I am- "We were forced to kill him to stop him."

The small mouth of the silver figure smirked slightly.

"Not to mention extra-terrestrials. There were few ways that that Meta did not damn himself to his own demise."

"Aliens can be very nice people, I'll have you know." Gravitas said, shaking his head. "The problem with you humans, is that you never get off your own planet and go find them until you are ready to war on them."

[Charon]

Legacies looked at Gravitas. "We shall have you know that you speak to one of those aliens now. We are no human, do not place us with them."

Legacies looked back towards Em. "But that is an unimportant matter. The matter that is important is that the Astronomer did not speak with your friendly 'aliens' to the best of our knowledge. It is quite possible that through dealings with demons or with aliens, he has placed something within this woman."

"Sounds like a real great guy..."

Kyosuke glanced over at Argent after her demon comment.
"I believe you'll find that our world doesn't wage war on aliens because we're incapable at the moment of getting out of our solar system, much less going to fight the klingons or whoever.

"But it did indeed seem as if this Astronomer damned himself. I doubt his death was a great loss to anyone. Which leads to the question of what does he have to do with this girl?"

After having ran out the fire-escape and used a current of air to thrust himself out, up and on to the roof

Avatar could do nothing but supress a shuder and transformation upon the mention of that sick bastard's name. he closed his eyes and did his damndest to maintain his human form.

"She was being used by him," Lei answered simply. "He also tricked me into capturing Avatar for him." Lei did not turn away, accepting her role in the matter silently. "Later I helped rescue both of them, but not before Avatar was skinned like a beast."

"It's a terrible pity there doesn't seem to be a way to find those involved with the thing we fought in Millenium and the Astronomer." Gravitas lamented simply. "Divine retribution really is a very fun hobby, especially when you discard the nonsense of eternal fire and get creative. In any case."

Blackheart had had only two drinks, which wasn't much considering he was a pretty big guy with augmented flesh and a demonic poison filter. He was far from intoxicated enough to miss the teleport or Avatar's move to the window. "Excuse me," he said as saw Avatar move.

He flew up after gator boy, grabbed him by the leg, and pulled him down. "What the fuck do you think you're doing?" he hissed as he dragged him down. "Neither of us were invited for a fucking reason. She's having problems with her teeping and your presence isn't going to help."

He dropped towards his balcony, taking Avatar with him. "So respect their privacy and let them do whatever they have to do. Go have another drink."

Avatar snapped out of it, and complied, save for the drinking. He was breathing shallowly and his skin seemed drained of blood, an automatic response to the Atronomer's name, his intracardiac shunt was moving blood away from the skin, skeletal muscle, and non-vital organs, toward the brain and essential functions; heart, lungs, liver, kidneys and pancrease. A response to even thinking about what that sick motherfucker did to him.

"I see" he rasped. "Though forgive me if I do not drink. I would not be able to maintain my form in this state, and I do not want to subject these kind people to my nudity more than is necessary"

Em stood. "I'm sorry guys, I didn't mean to cause a fuss. It has seemed to gone away now. I'm not sure if What's going on is because of the Astronomer but I do't remeber a monster in my head before that. Whatever happened Caused this..." She sent a weak psychic pulse toward the already damaged roof access. "To either develop or activate. I don't know, but the not being able to filter out thoughts had never happened before, drunk or not. Whatever this thing that is talking to me, wants something from me... I just don't know what. It's inisde my head but I can feel it physcially and stuff." She sighed deeply, "Ok I've been enough of a party pooper for one night, lets get back down there. Thanks for soming to check on me, glad to know we're starting to look out for one another."

She looked at the people on the roof silently thanking all of them. Especially Lei.

John had been sitting in the back corner imitating the nursing of a drink as best he could. He obviously did not have a stomach but for purposes of social interaction he could handle some liquids using an internal containment system. The problem however was it had a limited volume and he had to be very careful with any sort of carbonation. Additionally, a previous body had shown that food was a horrible mess in the best of circumstances.

He didn’t like parties much anyway, not that he had much experience with them mostly he had only gone to dinners with investors of his father’s company, and there he had sometimes just been a curiosity or “proof of conceptâ€

"We know that The Astronomer was trying to contact demons," Lei continued, looking to Gravitas, Legacies, and Kyosuke. "I don't like the thought of one possibly reaching for Em."

"My experience with demons is limited to unintended detours into their realms and that.. Thing.. in the park." Gravitas admitted. "Kinda out of my league. I can hedge out anything reaching her from another reality, but that'd be it. If it's somehow in her, I'm no good here."

I do know that it didn't happen till we faught him, He did some freaky shit and was powerful enough to tweak me. This thing in my head might just me a physical manifestation of my powers that could be used for evil. My other side maybe, like I said I don't know it was just an observation. But I'll try to find someone to talk to about it. In the mean time lets get back down there and finish the party huh?"

She looked at the roof access and winced. "Oops, wonder if someone can fix that."

You also run the risk of further posession or influence. I would suggest that you return to HQ to seek prifessional help in the matter."

Emiline sighed. "I might be young, but I am not a baby, nor am I incapible of dealing with this problem. It's one of many. I appriciate the concern, but like I've said, there are people that are waiting for us. I will go to talk to someone, you can count on that. But there is no point to do it now. Thank you for worring about me, I've never had that before."

With that she 'ported back to Blackheart's apartment.

"And to facing our own personal Demons." She said making taking some of the remaining margarita mix in a glass, raising it and taking a drink.

"I wonder if I was ever that suicidally self-confident when I was that young." Gravitas shook his head. Truthfully, he didn't look any older, but it was hard to tell his age. "If those of you who grok the spiritual more than I do can keep an eye on her, please. I'll do the best I can with what I've got, but it's far more suited to the physical realities."

Legacies made his way towards the edge of the building. He turned briefly towards the others.

"If she is possessed. It should be an easy matter for us to kill her should she lose control."

The silver figure then dropped off the roof, catching the edge with a tendril he stopped just outside the window and calmly entered the building once more.

Lei frowned. "For one who claims not to be a child, she acts the part very well...."

"If those of you who grok the spiritual more than I do can keep an eye on her, please. I'll do the best I can with what I've got, but it's far more suited to the physical realities."

"If she is possessed. It should be an easy matter for us to kill her should she lose control."

Lei sighed, softly. "I fear Legacies might be right." Her black-on-black eyes meet Gravitas' squarely. "I'll inform Blackheart, if you and the demon hunter will keep an eye on her. For someone who was supposedly living on the street, she's far too reckless and trusting." Lei had spent time on the streets herself. Reckless and trusting got you dead, hooked on drugs, or paying off your debts through sex. Lei's empathy had helped her avoid a lot of situations; Ember's skills and bravado had kept them alive and fed.
