As for blades?" He shrugged. "It depends on how sharp they are- Bullets bounce off me, darts too, usually. I can still be cut, but it has to be done by the sharpness of the knife, not any pressure put behind it."

Legacies nodded as tendrils slithered around him, picking up and testing the weight of some nearby pieces of rubble. "Shall we spar then? I am eager to test myself, and I am certain that we may come up with something both of us require more work with."

"Perhaps if you had not summoned NOCTURAL animals at MidDay, but used pidgeons or something else instead?" Argent snapped, her head still ringing from the bat's emotional upset. "*I* could even feel them ... DOCTOR" Never had that word been so full of venom as anger roiled off her in waves. "That should not have happened -either- ... animal emotions are too basic and simple normally. These bats were scared, confused, panicky. Do your autopsy if you want... you'll find they died of FRIGHT."

It was so tempting to shove all her emotions into Avatar right now... to once again let him know how those affected by his actions felt. Right now, she was just venting, not actively forcing it on people. It was still clear that the emotions were from outside, and could be ignored or controlled. Those that normally fly off the handle or let their emotions control them would find themselves getting just as pissy at Avatar as Argent herself.

"No organism dies of sheer fright in a short period. Yes, panic can do nasty things to an animal. But it will not kill them unless the fear response is sustained over a long period of time. Otherwise, the physiological response would be counterproductive in evolutionary terms, now wouldnt it? Do NOT seek to lecture me on the biology of any living creature Argent. I know you felt their pain, and as such, I will not be holding this against you. But now it is your turn to think. What is the temperature right now in this fog bank?Even the more fragile local bats do not die, even in temperatures over 30 degrees celcius. So, why would they overheat? And they did overheat. My mental link with them told me that much. Is this something I could have forseen? Hell, this species of bat is not even native to this county. So, calm down."

"You're the grand genius of the animal kingdom, Doctor." Gravitas spoke with the chill of the space between stars in his voice. "One would anticipate your ability to know of their movements, especially so close, and in telepathic communication with them. And yes.. Anything can die of fright quickly. I beleive the technical term is myocardial infarcation; a heart attack."

The Nova folded his arms. "Your ego needs to shrink a few sizes. You have demonstrated that you are reckless. You must adjust that. And before you get any smart ideas for retaliation, my species does not exist in this set of time/space." This was a lie, of course. His studies suggest Homo Sapien Novus first appeared in ancient times, albeit at vastly inferior power levels. But there was no reason to alert the Doctor to that. "So your powers would be of questionable use against my biology. So. Stow the ego, stow the lecture, learn yourself before more things die."

"Oh, that is possible. But on that scale? Thousands of individuals? The likelyhood of that is abysmally low, hence the reason for necropsies. Still, it was an error, I should not have risked it regardless. As for retaliation, why would I? How even? My mental abilities do not function on the minds of sapients. Still, I will be more careful in the future. Especially if necropsies reveal an unusually high number of myocardial infarcations in these animals. Remember, I am no neophyte, I have been using this ability for years, this has never happened, so until I know how and what happened, I would appreciate it if you" he said looking at Argent "would lay off the blame games

"If there was some sort of telepathic mishap which caused a statistically impossible rash of heart attacks or aneurisms, I will be the first to admit it"

"Oh, I'm sorry. You've used your powers for years. Therefore you know everything.. Only you don't." Gravitas scowled. "Your arrogance, as noted before, is wearing thin, Doctor. It is very clear there was a mishap causing a rash of deaths, simultaneously, immediately after your actions. While I am not that kind of doctor, I can form cause-effect conclusions. Sometimes with the effect preceding the cause, but that's just from my speciality. So. Until you dismount your high horse or other ambulatory mammalian.. Cram it up your ass and twist."

Gravitas turned on his heel. "Blast, let's go. I've had enough of elementary superhuman ethics. Let's find a building with no signs of squatters."

"Then perhaps your powers are Changing, Doctor." Argent snapped. "It happens when you use them over the course of years." She was still in her shadow-dragon form, still hovering in the air, her inky wings flapping slowly to hold her there. "As Gravitas as said.. cause and effect. You called them, out of their roosts, in daylight. They died. Who should be blamed for their deaths?"

"Blame is not the correct word. Responsibility perhaps. But there is a difference between an ultimate and proximate cause."

"It is posible my powers are changing, becoming...different... I will admit being skinned alive did interesting things to me psychologically. It may have a bearing on my abilities... but that too will require further inquiry"

Blast had slid into the other way of seeing. To be honest he kind of regretted it. The bats were like little candles that were slowly guttering out one by one. It was... tragic and made him wonder... If dying bats were this bad to see, how bad would watching a human die be this way? Shake it off, nothing that can be done right now. Just remember you owe Croc man one.

He looked over at a building... Didn't look like anyone was there... But he couldn't see through walls. He pointed.

"Let's try that one." He said to Gravtis.

"First lesson. The power is more than just offense and defense. I know you can absorb energy, and do that defensively. I know you can discharge offensively." Gravitas replied. "Now. How do you know the most potent sources? And can you use it to check that building? Either way, I'm going to check it my way." He added, scanning the building for the presense of human-sized masses.

"Once that is done.. And yes, the building is empty.. We will start on discharging. You say it's instinctive, I say walking's instinctive, but you can still slow down. We start by simply repeating it with the most relaxed state of mind possible. Begin with the top."

"After the fight in the park... I started seeing energy, waves and currents mostly, but people have... This kinda field around. Don't see through really see through walls though. I can say this building isn't hooked up to anything though." Blast replied as he lifted his fist up to point at the roof of the building. He exhaled and fired a blazing current of energy leapt out to assualt the building.

Argent hovered for a moment more, not satisfied with Avatar's answer... but at least he was starting to admit he could be wrong. The silver eyes were still narrowed as she stared at him, although the blanketing anger was muting, fading back inside herself. "Yes... perhaps you should do 'further inquiries'..." she retorted, sinking back into the shadow she'd erupted from. Stupid snotty bastard... just because he's a doctor he thinks he knows everything?

"Their presense will radiate into the enviroment; their body heat most especially. An occupied building is hotter than an unoccupied one." Gravitas replied, watching the flow of energy. "Alright. If it works like my power does, just relax the part of your mind channeling it. Ease yourself towards shutting off, but don't let it fully stop."

[frigidmagi]

Blast concenrated, trying to ease... The stream of energy began to sputter alternating between off and on. As Blast attempted to control it it sputtered faster beginning to look like visual morse code.

"While visually impressive.. Hmmm." Gravitas frowned a bit. "Try relaxing your concentration. That might help. You're tensed up."

Blast tried to relax, it was difficult considering he was doing something humans were not meant to do. Come on... Breath in...1..2...3..Breath out.

The energy sputter slowed down, it became a pulse as the energy began to trickle down, slowly.

"How's...that?" He asked.

"Much better." Gravitas nodded. "Much, much better. You'll get used to it. A rush, right now.. But it'll become second nature."

The wave impacted on his life support field, then the wall of his iron willpower.

He staggered back a few steps from the suddenness of the attack, but grinned beneath the helmet.

He was using the ring to sweep again, when it hit him. Anger, unadultered, unfiltered, supreme rage. Argent's rage channeled down thier physic link, and filled him with the emotion.

The energy beam from the from the ring shifted, no longer the sweeping probe, it turned into the form of a massive demon, which promptly began to punch through the floor then upper level of the parking complex.

A moment later, the demon was gone, but the life support field pulsed around him. peices of cement lifted off the ground as the wave of arcane energy washed off of him, and he made his way towards the source. The only thought in his rage filled mind, was spoken at normal voice "I'm going to kill you Avatar....."

Em waited for Saibot to find her again. But he never appeared, she was getting ready to 'say' something to him when the floor above her crumbled she jumped out of the way as a big chunk of the celing feel next to her. "What the hell?" She looked up, and barely had enough time to move as the beam from Saibots ring plunged though the roof. She screamed as a bit of the ray seared into her flesh, leaving a huge gash down the length of her upper arm. She cradled her right arm against her chest as another chunk of celing fell only inches away from her, she fell to the ground and was covered in dirt as she teleported out of the complex and into plain sight, she seemed to 'shimmer' out of invisibility laying on the ground.

She waisted no time in standing shakily to her feet and stlll cradling her arm she walked over to where Saibot was and reached out forcefully to Argent's mind. -Get over here NOW! I don't know what the fuck is going on but you can fix it....-

[Cynical Cat]

"It sounds like someone has started the demolition early," quipped Blackheart as he heard Saibot smash the building, although he was unaware of his murderous intent. "As for your expertise in animal biology, I will certainly defer to you in that. But that's not particularily relevant to the case at hand. This was the side effects of brute force telepathy doctor and I have seen far too much of what that can do and you haven't. I've seen teeps cook people by fucking up the temperature regulating mechanisms. I've seen strokes, aneurisms, heart attacks, the body go haywire in ways you've just gotten to see.

"You want to know the scary thing? It can be easy. You pushed your powers Nothing freaky, just a little more than what you've safely done. A little further against their instincts than you've done before. Affected more minds than you've done before. You threw around more power than you've ever done with less even less control because you were hitting more creatures. Wham. A bunch of poor dead bats. "

He considered that for a moment

"It is possible... and unless sorely pressed, I will have to do my best to not do it again. Still, I am curious as to what killed them. The necropsy will have to be done regardless, if only for research purposes...and because I enjoy necropsies" he admitted somewhat sheepishly, trying to break any tension with humor. Of course, it was biologist humor, so it may not go over well, but he was never a good judge of such things

Argent had retreated into the shadows, grumbling at Avatar's thick-headed stubborn-minded, 'i'm not at fault' attitude. She was trying to lock her anger down, like she normally did, tuck it away, lock it in a box where it wouldn't harm her ... or anyone else when she was finally forced to release it.

There was something weird going on. The 'box' she stuffed her emotions in wasn't ... well... responding right. There was a certain feeling she'd get, or lack of feeling, when she stuffed the emotions in the box. It was like locking a safe, nothing in, nothing out. But the anger and hate was still there, like a echo in her mind.

Puzzled, she emerged from the shadows again, wanting to find either Legacies or Saibot. That was when the backlash hit her -- her emotions into Saibot, his emotions back into her.

The shadowdragon roared, shooting skywards with wings spread like a pheonix rising from ashes. All shadows in the area shifted, as if wanting to slither off and join the dragon's form.

Then the dragon collapsed as Argent's mind shut down protectively.....

He considered that for a moment

"Of this I am well aware." then he heard the shadow dragon roar

First, the building collapsed. Then, the dragon roared. Then it soared into the air as the shadows did a polka.

"Okay, that can't be good." A.J. muttered. "I think we're going to have to get back to this!" He called to Legacies, jogging back towards the main group.
