"Daaamnnnniiit." Cam almost whined as she rushed back to her room. She was still wiping food and coffee off the book and herself as she approched her room. When she got there she was met by Suzan.

"Get cleaned up, hon. We're going shopping."

"Uhhh, I don't have any money...."

"That's no excuse 'cause you've got me! Now shoo, get going." She smiled.

Cam all but collapsed on her bed. Several bags filled with clothes were strewn about the room. She sighed, then her mind went to the guy she saw that morning. She had been reckless and didn't think. But, he had been thinking about her too....he though she was somone he knew ten years ago. That was before her accident, she could know him... -Well if I see him again..... Whatever, you scared him off....freak.-

She turned on the t.v but fell asleep a few moments later.

"Excuse me." A.J. snagged a receptionist once it looked like business was dying down. "I'm looking for an old friend of mine, I think she works here. E. Dunam. D-U-N-A-M." He spelled the name out carefully, waiting with a sense of apprehension as the man queried his computer.

"I'm afraid there's nobody here by that name, Sir." The man said apologetically.

A.J. was starting to feel really silly. Just one more go. "Okay, maybe she doesn't work here, but I'm pretty sure she was in the building recently... Red hair, violet eyes, about yay high?" He held his hand the appropriate height off the ground.

He shrugged, he didn't like to talk about it about his reasons for assuming the mantle he wore.

"It's......complicated." he said, leaving it at that.

He started away from the church, moving towards the Open air Market

"... I'm sorry...," Lei said, dropping her eyes. The crash of emotions that she'd just felt from him told just how 'complicated' it was. She doubted Garth even understood all the mixed feelings within him. She let it stand, for now, simply walking with her arm in his and trying to distance herself from the tangled emotions inside him.

It was difficult....

The New Orleans Open Air Market was one of the oldest still active such events in the continental US, with hundreds of marchants coming everyday to sell thier wares. From fresh fruits and vegatables, to hand made merchandise and imported goods, almost everything could be found there.

Garth ducked between various booths and stalls, picking up a few things, readily eaten items, enjoying the scents and sights. It helped relax him, and he squeezes Lei's hand lightly while he looked through the food stuffs.

She felt him relax, and it relaxed her as well. Absently she wondered if this shared emotional bond was going to tie them forever.

A peach, fresh from someone's arbor, was too much for Lei to resist, however. She silently added it to the items Garth was buying. It wasn't long before she was happily biting into the succulent fruit and licking peach juice from her lips and fingers like a little girl as Garth led her amongst the little shops lining the street.

He cast a sidelong glance at her as she ate the peach, and grinned. Lei could make even the most plain things fun and interesting.

"We only have a few more blocks to go, then we'll arrive....we'll come back here after"

"As long as I can have beignets at some point," Lei answered with a slightly sticky smile, before taking another bite of the peach. Once again, there was the slightly embarrassed fight to keep juices from running down her chin as she ate. Garth was amused by her actions. It was keeping the darker emotions at bay for now. If she could, she'd let a drop fall down onto the skin revealed by her tanktop, if it would make him happy.

Cam had been up for awhile. She was scheduled for more tests that morning and was doing odd jobs around the building. It felt good to have new clothes for once. She had chosen a pair of light washed jeans and a simple black shirt to work in. She had pulled her hair back in a pony-tail and had put some make-up on. She felt really good but her mind continuously went back to.. she wished she had gotten his name.

She turned down a hall way and stepped into a room. "Hey Tom, any mail for me to take?"

A few moments later she was carrying a small box and some certified letters down the hall to the recptionists desk.

The debate was over. The media appearances were over. Gravitas hadn't slept in a little over four days; not unhealthy with his biology, but still exhausting. The self-proclaimed God of Gravity settled into a chair at a pub, and powered down. The feeling of majesty and leadership around him vanished. His feet finally touched the floor, instead of hovering a tiny amount above it. The vast stores of power submerged.

He wasn't sure why he did it anymore. He wasn't Phil anymore, and hadn't been for so long it hurt to remember. Philedelphia Trask had faded away, long ago. But sometimes, you had to take the mantle of responsibility off. With the vast powers, he had the ability to reshape the world to a degree... And that led to the terrible burdens of responsibility. The knowledge that he had so much to do, and even going all out, he'd never make a dent in the suffering.

He looked at his hands, absently. With these hands.. With the power that flowed through them.. He had made his destiny. He wished he had the power flowing through them to erase it all. The first burbon came, and vanished down his throat. The alcohol hit him square in the gut, his body not in a state where it could shrug such off.

Say he just.. Didn't stop. He kept drinking until he died of alcohol poisoning. A depressing death for one of his calibur, but.. Why not? No one was doing anything to avert the coming war. It would certainly stop him worrying about it. But that was just a kind of running away, and he had stopped doing that when she left him.

It always came back to that. After the second.. Third drink? Three drinks? Three glasses. Must be three drinks. After a few drinks, her face, her voice, her shock and horror at what he had done.. What he had done to protect her!... flashed in his mind. That robber had nearly got to her! Who cared if he begged for his miserable life.. He deserved it..

But then he had been the monster. So quick to decide that godhood made him the Judge, Jury, and Executioner. The monster was still in there, demanding he crush and kill and maim all who were too stupid to do anything to stop the war, but that would just make it worse..

He stopped, and looked down at the glasses, starting to count them.

When he had counted up to the fifth glass, he toppled over and off the stool. The two Ultimas agents assigned to tail him were quickly over there, working to make sure he wasn't dead. His continued existance was verified in a technicolour yawn that would cost alot to get out of a suit.

A.J. realised he was making a pest of himself and thanked the clerk for his time, then stuffed his hands in his pockets and made his way to the exit. He was beginning to think that a merely stiff drink wouldn't cut it; At this rate he'd need something 100% proof.

At the moment he was talking out, Alex, or Avatar walked in. He noticed the newcomer immiediatly, you develop a sharp eye for such things when you study animal behavior in the field

She walked up behind Sean at the desk and place the package and letters next to him.

"Hey sugar," He said. "Some guy was lookin for ya... he just left."

"Really? Did he give his name?" She was already walking out.

"No, but he asked for an E. Dunam..." He shrugged.

Cam headed for the exit. He was about to leave the building when she caught up to him. "Hey! wait up!" she called.

A.J. spun around at the all too familiar voice, cautious optimism quickly quashed by hard-earned cynicism. He was quickly convincing himself that he'd just made another fuckup, and now he'd have to apologise profusely... But the voice, the mental signature.

"Yes?" He ventured.

She saw the guy that she all but helped deskin... Wow two applogies in a row...

She looked at A.J. "I'm sorry about yesterday... That was really rude. I need to work on that. Invade personal privacy is not the best way to meet and try to impress someone. Maybe we can start over?"

She the turned to Alex. "And to you....wow what can I say? Um, I honestly wasn't in my right mind when.. well, yanno. Um, yea, they're saying that because of my telepathy I was picking up an His psychic energy maing me feel the need to be bad as well. I'm really sorry and if ther's anything I can do...."

She looked back and forth between the men, blushing furiously.

"It happens. I too am, apparantly, vulnerable to mental attacks. Still, you did manage to distract him from skinning me for brief periods, and my anger kept me sane... So it is alright, I accept your apology." he smiled. Besides, he really wanted to sink his teeth into the bitch who captured him in the first place. But that would have to wait. His only real regret that he wasnt in a state to rip The Astronomer apart before he was killed.

"Look I am exhausted after that debate, and bored. How about I buy you both a drink or six. I need to talk to someone who isnt calling me evil incarnate"

Ryan finished reading the report. He checked his watch and headed down to the cafeteria. Time to find out if he should just bring his lunch whenever he could.

A.J. blinked again, then collected himself. "Yes, you were on T.V. just a bit ago, weren't you?" He took the proffered hand. "Everyone calls me A.J., apart from at work. Then I'm known as Shockwave."

"I'm Camie... or Cam... Least that's what I go by... I dont' have a super name... Anyway I'm off, I'll be right back."

She hurried to her room where she changed into a pair of black studed jeans and a black and purple corset. She grabbed a black fitted jacket and threw that on and let her hair down running a brush through it quickly. She touched up her makeup a bit and grabbed her bag. She joined her new friends five minutes after she left.

"I have to tell you... I have no money... so drinks are on the men tonight." She blushed again as she admited being broke.
