How come AT can't wear ( shirts)?

Only Ascended characters can learn to wear those. It's a new equipment slot they get.

I fell for the same thing with regards to the star shirt. It's a specific sign that unlocks an area and gives your character the torso awareness skill...

I thought it was a specific set of signs, myself. There should be three signs that unlock the appropriate area where you can purchase the skill.
