In the crown of the statue of Liberty, with a battle still raging across the bay from them, and with Argent at possibly her most vulnerable, Saibot pulled her gently against him, and wrapped a arm around her.

"You can cry if you want to....." he spoke softly, almost as if his lips where next to her ear.

"It's hard losing the only ones who loved you....especially when they weren't suppossed to be killed...and holding it in will only make you like me....your to beautiful for that..."

"You're going to hate me when my influence wears off..." she murmurred softly, torn between both his jangled emotions and her own. Giving in, she wrapped her arms around him and let the emotions go.

Vented would be a better word for it. As she did back in Hawaii, she threw open the little box inside her and swept every bit of it out of herself. This time, she tried focusing it all away from him, out over the Sound, like shouting thru a megaphone. In Hawaii, she'd not realized how close the tourists were... now, across the Sound a half-mile or more away, people started weeping as the focused emotions travelled further.

There was nothing else to do, his other arm closed around her and he held her close, protectively.

Despite her attempt, some of those emotions touched him, through his will and the influence of his ring, and a tear slide down his cheek. He spoke softly to her, words of tenderness and gentleness. All extremely out of character for him, but then again, he'd been acting out of character most of the day, ever since she hit him with her powers.

Niner reached the rooftop that Seven and Hazard where on. By the time he reached it, he had clamed down enough that his eyes were no longer glowing blue.

"Seven."

"You ok buddy?" Seven said not even looking up still tending to Hazard's wounds, while keeping the man restrained. "listen could you maybe help me out? We need to keep pressure on this guy's wounds to keep him from bleeding out, call for medical evac (my radio is fucked), and I wanna check on the guy you ported away from."

Niner smiled, or at least what passed for a smile for him.

"Sure." He used his TK to grip the tourniquet. He handed Seven his radio out of his vest. "Go check the guy and call for evac."

Seven stood up and drew his weapon again aiming it back at Demise, who was still lieing on the ground "hey anything you can tell me bout that guy?" he asked Niner before attaching the radio to his hip.

"This is Blackheart. Everyone sound off. We've got Abaddon on the run." He hoped to all hell that he hadn't lost anyone.

The storm was over, only a single inky tear remained on her face, slowly trickling down to spot his armor as he held her. Empty of strong emotions for the moment, she could relax. Oddly enough, she did not find the press of his emotions frightening...

"Lei." she said suddenly, softly. He'd been in the center of the storm, and hadn't backed down. "My name is Lei."

"This is Blackheart. Everyone sound off. We've got Abaddon on the run." He hoped to all hell that he hadn't lost anyone.

Seven pulled the radio up as Blackheart's voice crackled over it, "Seven here, with Niner we have the sniper restrained but he's gonna need medical evac. over."

He didn't let go, even after she told him her name. He just kept holding her, his hand stroking her back lightly, moving through her hair.

"Garth..." he replied, looking through the window, just holding her.

To him, it was a moment frozen in time, and he heard the crackle of Blackheart's voice coming in weakly over the communicator earbud. He didn't want to answer, so he didn't.

He enjoyed the time with her, who the hell knew when he would get the chance again.

He didn't let go, even after she told him her name. He just kept holding her, his hand stroking her back lightly, moving through her hair.

It was a totally new experience for her, simply being held and comforted. She liked it... and she suddenly felt guilty because it would wear off when her influence fades. Then it stuck her...

"Do you... have a clock in that helmet?" she asked, not yet moving from his arms, but tensed. 15 minutes... that was the limit, unless she hit him again. But she'd gone to Hawaii, and hadn't touched his mind since... had she?

"Don't look in the bastards eyes." Niner called out to Seven.

"Don't need it....it's been a hour since I first saw you....the Ring tells me what I need to know."

He kissed the top of her head, gently, inhaling the scent of her hair. The helmet was set on the windowsill before he held her, he had taken it off when they arrived.

"Don't look in the bastards eyes." Niner called out to Seven.

"Don't need it....it's been a hour since I first saw you....the Ring tells me what I need to know."

He kissed the top of her head, gently, inhaling the scent of her hair. The helmet was set on the windowsill before he held her, he had taken it off when they arrived.

An hour since he first saw her. 45 minutes since she'd fought her way past his will and ensnared him. And he wasn't hating her for playing with his emotions. He wasn't running away, he didn't want to leave her.

And she found she didn't want him to.

"So... does this mean it's your turn to take a prisoner..?" she asked, feebly trying to make a joke.

He pulled back for a moment, and looked into those black eyes, shortly before he leaned down and claimed her mouth in a slow kiss.

When it was over, he picked her up, almost cradling her in his arms, as a blue energy beam picked up the helmet, and settled it back on his head. Miniservo's clicked and it locked in place, and the mask shut in.

"Sure...I'll take your prisoner...I even have a pair of handcuffs we can use...." the meanacing voice held some teasing quality to it through the helmet's filter.

He was going back to Ultimas, he'd take her with him, and he wouldn't let any of them touch her. Even if it meant he wound up in the detention blocs again.

The glow of his life support field suffused her as well, "Whatever happens....I won't let them harm you...I promise" he said softly, cradling her slim form against him.

That got a very vivid blush rising to her cheeks, but otherwise she found herself unable to even start a protest about being carried. Sure, she could get them there faster, but it was just ... nice, being held this way.

He was going back to Ultimas, he'd take her with him, and he wouldn't let any of them touch her. Even if it meant he wound up in the detention blocs again.

"I know. I can feel it." she said simply. Who knows, maybe they'd take her parole as well...

"This is Blast, I need to recharge, I got nothing left. I'm gonna fall back a bit." Blast said backing away from the building he had just smashed so hard.

"I'm entering the building in pursuit of Abaddon," said Blackheart as he landed. Fuck it, it wasn't like he was going to live forever. He cautiously entered the hole.

The earbud crackled faintly with the team's reports. Saibot decided that this would be a good a time as any.

"Hold on," he said, "Thier after Abaddon....we'll go back, they can use my help. Just, stay out of sight, we don't know what Abaddon will do if he sees you."

With that, they were alight, flying through the nearest exit, and hovering over the Statue of Liberty for a moment. He took in the skyline with her there, floating, before they were off in a streak, the life support field blocking the winds from being felt on thier skin.

It would only take a minute to arrive...and then, he could get a crack at Abaddon himself.

Blast fell back slowly, he needed a power source, any power source a car engine, a toaster, a street light, anything, he scanned the area for them looking for a recharge so he could rejoing the fight. Need to start carrying more energy around as a reserve...

Legacies waited for Blackheart to pass by and then followed him down the rabbit hole. "You realize this is a trap right?" Legacies faded from view, leaving only what looked like a strange heatwave following after Blackheart.

Cam looked at the man on the table. "Why hasn't he bled to death yet? And why doesn't he scream?" A look came over her face as the man talked, not to her but about her, like she wasn't there. She knew who he was... the crocidile man who had offered her his home.

'She should have been safe'

She scoffed, then looked at the man who had stopped his cutting to see this exchange. She knew he knew what was going on, his powers over the mind were a hell of a lot better than hers. Oh yea, he knew. "May I?" She didn't wait for an answer, just spoke. "Safe? No one is safe in Milinium City anymore. Especially a young girl who doen't know her orgins and has no place to stay. Do you know how many times I've had to fend for myself out on the streeet, warding off drunks and horny men who think that because I'm an urchin that it's ok for them to hurt me? Being a freak doesn't help either. Not many people want to be your friend when you disapear at random. People like you even shun me, because I don't know how to control my powers. There's a big diiference between you and the what are they called? Ultimas? And me... you want to be the way you are, you're accepted. I'm not, and won't be. And I think you're the one who's not safe..." with that she walked out of the room.

"It's been an hour! How can they still be fighting?" she asked, her arms wrapped around his neck for that little bit of extra security. It was odd not being the one to teleport or fly herself. "Yeah...they should, but thier not. Told you they wouldn't give up."

The park was in sight, and he began to descend. It was then he remembered something.. He didn't have his dagger. His powers were lessened without it.

"I have to find my sword once I get there. If it's still in the area, i'll be able to sense it." He cursed himself for dropping it, even for her.

"Hold on for a second beautiful. This is Saibot, I'm enroute..ETA 90 seconds. Anyone seen my dagger?"

[Cynical Cat]

"Yeah," said Blackheart. "But we've hurt the fucker and I'm still ready to fight. If we let him get away, it won't be this easy again. I'm carrying around enough ghosts as it is. I don't need to add everyone Abaddon kills between now and when we get another shot at him."
