#1 Batman vs Hannibal Lecter
This scenario takes place before FBI Agent Graham discovered Hannibal Lecter's identity as serial killer.
See, Dr. Lecter is just being appointed as the Head Psychiatrist of Arkham Asylum. Soon after, he commits serial killing as usual. However, nobody know his identity, so nobody is aware that the middle-aged, mild-mannered psychiatrist is also the one who kills people out there.
Commissioner Gordon asks Batman to investigate. However, Batman doesn't initially know that Lecter is the serial killer, so he needs to, well, investigate.
On the other hand, Lecter doesn't know either that the famous Gotham billionaire named Bruce Wayne is actually Batman. However, he already knows that there is a vigilante called 'Batman' in town, so he is preparing himself as well. As Arkham's Head Psychiatrist, he is also well-informed about Batman's enemies like Joker, Scarecrow, or the Croc.
So can the Dark Knight Detective discover that Lecter is the serial killer? And if he does, can he catch Lecter? Or maybe it is Lecter who will eat Batman instead? And considering Lecter knows Batman's enemies well (psychological profile of the Joker, for instance), how much he can make things difficult for the Caped Crusader?

So be it. If saying "NO" means being alone, then to hell with love, with romance, with marriage, and all the shit life keeps pumping at me. I'll walk alone, but with freedom and a healed pride.

Lecter wins and eats Batman's brain while he is still alive.
He may not know at first but he is fully capable of mind-fucking people. He is fairly well to do. He will probably get invited to social functions with Bruce and figure out his entire mind in a few minutes. Remember, he is capable of telling what brand of skin cream someone is wearing from 8 feet away through holes in glass. The smell of rubber/armor will be evident to him when he smells Batman (showers wont work, he was able to tell that Clarice sometimes wears a specific perfume, but was not that day)
He then interviewss Batman's villians who are in costody, and interacts with him when he comes to visit prisoners (and by visit, I mean question)
He figures it out almost immediatly, and invites Bruce Wane over for dinner.
Poisons the wine. And DINNER TIME!!
See, Batman doesnt specialize in every day criminals and serial killers. No, he specializes in taking down super-villians who leave cheesy calling cards or are otherwise obvious. He may be smart, but Hannibal is just beyond his area of experise.

I give Batman bit more credit than that. I don't think that Lecter would get him so quick. Granted your point is well supported, but Batman "Mr. Wayne" is smart himself, he would probably figure it out before he went to dinner with Hannibal. Not saying that Lecter would figure it out, but Wayne would get it too. And besides, Lecter would play cat and mouse and let the secret out gradually, he'd want Batman to know, that way his victory would be that much greater.

He is smart yes, but he is not a forensic psychologist. Lecter would give subtle hints and clues to Batman, but would not leave any actual forensic evidence for the batman to find.Rukia wrote:I give Batman bit more credit than that. Remember, Lecter is also a master of deception. He managed to convince the head of an Italian museum that he was an Art Historian, enough to become a curator. No one Batman has ever delt with his been able to pull that off, to my knowledge.

Could you please draw somebody else into those stupid vs.es?
The comic book industry is lousy with superheroes even if you limit it to powers-less ones so why does it always have to be me?

No offense, Bat. But you are probably the most favorite pop culture victim compared to other superheroes.Batman wrote:Could you please draw somebody else into those stupid vs.es?

A few points. My understanding of Lector is mostly second hand, so please excuse any errors.
1) Super smell bullshit. Hannibal may be able to recognize perfume scent that will remain on someone's clothes even if they haven't worn it that day, but he isn't a dog. Recognizing perfume doesn't mean he knows what body armour, let alone uber bat armour, smells like even if traces remain and aren't obscured by say cologne. The only way he's going to smell Batman is when Bat's fist collides with his face.
2) Lecter kills people around him, thus making him very easy to catch. In "Manhunter" William Peterson's character caught on right away. I don't know how much that changed from the book, but Batman is the world's greatest detective and Lecter is fucking blatant.
3) Yeah, he'll instantly figure out Bruce. *wank wank*. Not happening in anything approaching reality. He's going to have to dig to find that Bruce has issues and leaping to "he's Batman" will require a lot of data that he won't get. Batman's rogues gallery is not a useful source of information. They are delusional and mentaly ill. Coming the media and police records would be much more useful.
4) Batman not noticing that the new head of Arkham has a history of people around him disappearing. Ridiculous.
5) Uber mindfuck is useless on Batman who will just beat the shit out of him and have him thrown in prison. Batman is totally driven to fulfill his goals and not about to be dissuaded by a cannibal with delusions of grandeur.

A much more likely scenario, within the outline giving by KAN, is that Lecter figures out that Batman is likely to figure out who he is in very short order. What precautions and plans will Lecter innact to try to turn the tables on the Dark Knight when he come to get Lecter?

Wow, a case built on a single line of dialogue...
One: The young lady in the movie, didn't wear anything that would cover the scent of her favorite perfume. Soap and water will not completely remove your favorite scent, however soap, water and another scent will. Wayne will be wearing a expensive Colguene (HE'S A FUCKING BILLIONARE!)
Two: There are a number of organizations or persons that could supply this Batman, if his abilities and gear aren't being exgarrated by the villains in question. For all Lector knows Bats is a federal agent whose existence is classified. How many teams has Lex Luthor alone sponsered when he was President?
Three: Bruce Wayne has convinced everyone and I mean everyone that he's an idiot playboy and a klutz. This doesn't qualify as master of deception now?
