#1 God Emperor of Mankind Vs.... Coin
Well, in the randomness that is The Chat, me and several others came up with the God Emperor of Mankind of 40K fame vs Coin The Sorcerer of Discworldian fame.
On one side we have a millenia old psychic entity whose life is preserved in a giant machine... and in the other, Coin! 12 years old and already capable of capturing the many thousands of Discworld gods in a snowglobe.
Oh, and GEOMK for this scenario can be at his prime o' life, pre-horus heresy.
Random Scenario number 52. God Emperor of Mankind somehow is transported to the Disc where he starts trying to convert the masses, fails misrebly, but finds the way to Coins dimension andd trys taking that over, in the vain hope a 12yr old Discworld child won't be bale to smash him to pieces.
Ding ding! Roooouuuund 1!
if anyone needs more info on the two beings in questions just ask....

I'd like to know more about Coin and what he can do. I'm not saying that he'd lose or anything, I just don't know anything about him.
Never shall innocent blood be shed, yet the blood of the wicked shall flow like a river.
The three shall spread their blackened wings and be the vengeful striking hammer of god.

Isn't the God Emperor suppose to be a genius or something?

Yes, as well as being the product of every neolithic shaman reincarnating into one being, the 40K psyker version of "merge into Devestator!"frigidmagi wrote:Isn't the God Emperor suppose to be a genius or something?

Coin is, for lack of a better term, a sheer source of magical energy. An eighth child of an eighth child of an eighth child is usually born as a Sourcerer, innately and powerfully attuned to magic, he probably has more power than anything else on the Disc. He has infinite magical power, and can shape all reality surrounding him with a mere thought.I'd like to know more about Coin and what he can do. I'm not saying that he'd lose or anything, I just don't know anything about him.
In short: very powerful.

Specifics please. The GEOM can stop time in the region around him and project a psychic beacon that can be seen across the galaxy, for example. Psykers capable of incinerating whole armies of soldiers and war machines are weak compared to his power. What can Coin do?

Coin is made, almost literally, of pure magical energy. He's what would happen if the weave from forgotten realms were to physically incarnate itself into a living being.
His actions have included (but aren't entirely limited to):
His actions have included (but aren't entirely limited to):
- Effortlessly destroying the leader of the magical university as if his magical defences just weren't there.
Physically altering the magical university and transforming it into something which, I quote: "looks better", despite the many magical defences thereof.
Turned a tiny demiplane into an entire universe... without much percieved effort.
Overpowering and taking control of the entire Discworld Magical University... becoming its undeniable leader, despite the intense magical firepower of discworld mages (who themselves literally destroyed a whole building by making it: "Implode and explode at the same time, which would be impossible without either intense magical power or a really big vfx budget." (from Reaper Man)
His entire existance was actually a cause for armageddon, his immense power would very literally have fucked up the balance of the Discworld (which itself must be amazingly tolerant), and destroyed it. The Teatime of the gods.

Coin is impressive, but beings of pure magic energy (warp energy in Warhammer) are easily bitchslapped by the GEoM.
All his feats with the exception of universe creation are well below the power of the GEoM, who once caused an entire solar system to be consumed by a warpstorm (triggering armageddon on one planet<<<wiping out star system). Could you go into detail about the universe creation please and whether or not Coin can be killed by having his next snapped like a twig?

Neck snapping: He is a human embodiment of magic, so necksnapping will work.Could you go into detail about the universe creation please and whether or not Coin can be killed by having his next snapped like a twig?
It has been a while since I've read the universe part, so I was mistaken, as I found out upon my rereading... its size wasn't entirely specified:
The garden was a glittering ball in Billias's hands. The nearest wizards craned admirably over his shoulders, and looked down into a two-foot sphere that showed a delicate, flower-strewn landscape; there was a lake in the middle distance, complete in every ripple, and purple mountains behind an interesting-looking forest. Tiny birds the size of bees flew from tree to tree and a couple of deer no larger than mice glanced up from their grazing and stared out at Coin.
Who said critically: 'It's quite good. Give it to me.'
He took the intangible globe out of the wizard's hands and held it up.
'Why isn't it bigger?' he said.
Billias mopped his brow with a lace-edged handkerchief.
'Well,' he said weakly, so stunned by Coin's tone that he was quite unable to be affronted, 'since the old days, the efficacity of the spell has rather-'
Coin stood with his head on one side for a moment, as though listening to something. Then he whispered a few syllables and stroked the surface of the sphere.
It expanded. One moment it was a toy in the boy's hands, and the next...
... the wizards were standing on cool grass, in a shady meadow rolling down to the lake. There was a gentle breeze blowing from the mountains; it was scented with thyme and hay. The sky was deep blue shadin to purple at the zenith.
The deer watched the newcomers suspiciously from their grazing ground under the trees.
Spelter looked down in shock. A peacock was pecking at his bootlaces.
'-' he began and stopped. Coin was still holding a sphere, a sphere of air. Inside it, distorted as though seen through a fish-eye lens or the bottom of a bottle, was the Great Hall of the Unseen University.
The boy looked around at the trees, squinted thoughtfully at the distant, snow-capped mountains, and nodded at the astonished men.
'It's not bad,' he said, 'I should like to come here again.' He moved his hands in a complicated motion that seemed, in some unexplained way, to turn them inside out.
Now the wizards were back in the hall, and the boy was holding the shrinking garden in his palm. In the heavy, shocked silence he put it back into Billias's hands, and said: 'That was quite interesting. Now I will do some magic.'
He raised his hands, stared at Billias, and vanished him.

All that was was a shrinking spell thingy. He pulled them INSIDE it. The EoM projects a galaxy-wide physic beacon ALL FUCKING DAY LONG. Constant, massive mental expenditure.

Wow, he's a big glowing source of energy? Well, Coin would produce similar by existing. The Cleric wrote:All that was was a shrinking spell thingy. He pulled them INSIDE it. The EoM projects a galaxy-wide physic beacon ALL FUCKING DAY LONG. Constant, massive mental expenditure.
He effortlessly captured the Gods of the Disc without them even able to respond; how's the Chaos Gods standing up to the GEoM's almighty power? Oh yea, not so hot, huh?

Coin also imprisoned every single god on the discworld at once with one spell.
(He pulled them out of Cori Celesti as well as the infinite lesser gods and put them into a bottle- without any effort).
To be fair, the Chaos gods are more like the Dungeon Dimension creatures than the Disc gods, although that would make them mere leeches compared to Coin.
However unless Coin has his father to give him combat advice the Emperor's physicla skill and wepaonry should let him beat Coin up too badly for him to respond, and it's possible that the Emperor himself may be boosted by the magic. (He can use normal magic [see the thousand sons], and Even Rincewind could cast a decent spell when miles away from Coin [this was without the great spell from TLF or COM in his head ;)).
I'd give this to the Emperor due to ruthlessness, battle skill and experience and combat prowess- Coin is 8 years old don't forget.
(Although blasting a wizard is more impressive than it counts, students are amazingly well protected and any halfway decent wizard requires the equilevent of a magical nuke to affect through their defenses)

Man had always assumed that he was more intelligent than dolphins because he had achieved so much: the wheel, New York, wars while all the dolphins had ever done was muck about in water having a good time.
But the dolphins had always believed that they were far more intelligent than man for precisely the same reasons

Emperor fill Coin with the pain of a thousand burning needles, then punch through him.Dakarne wrote:Emperor go vanish.Coin is 8 years old don't forget.
Coin can do that.
Emperor can do that, Horus simply needed to look at something for it to melt/explode, and The Emperor creamed him when he finally took of his gloves (While half dead with his arm, throat ripped out)
