OOC: I totally change this one post because infiltrating Keith Dibben's harddrive (the geneticist) is a speculative and ineffective method anyway. So here's my new post, which makes more sense. Oh, and the geneticist is awake, not unconscious as the deleted post.

Oh, and Jon, this happens in day two as well.

=============================================================

Keith Dibben was laying on the hospital bed when a man in beige suit came into his room. The man handed out a badge.

"Mr. Dibben? I am Sergeant Steve Banks from NYPD. Do you mind if I take your time for a minute?"

"What do you want again? You guys already visited this morning, I'm tired of answering the same question over and over again."

"I know, but they are from homicide. I am from metro. I should have been with them this morning, but other things called. Sorry for your inconvenience."

The geneticist sighed, "alright."

"Well, Mr. Dibben, do you have any ideas why the gang attacked you yesterday night?"

He shooked his head, "I don't know." It was a half-lie.

"Did you remember the suspects?"

"I'm not sure. It was really dark." Half-lie again.

"Do you think it is something related to your job?"

"Maybe," Dibben laughed to cover his lies, "we are doing pharmateuical research there. Maybe the gang were looking for crack or something."

"Well, tell me about your job, Mr. Dibben. You are a scientist, aren't you?"

The geneticist shooked his head again, "sorry, I am under tight NDA. The company I work for is paranoid of industrial spionage and such. If you insist, then you should talk to my lawyer."

"It was quite a helluva damage there. You are lucky to be alive," Sergeant Banks changed the subject.

Dibben nodded, "yeah. All the computers were destroyed. What a loss..."

"You should keep a backup, you know. My sister always keeps a backup from work in her home PC; she is using flashdrive." Sergeant Banks casually handed out a USB flashdrive as if showing-off, "I followed her example. It was really hell when my PC at work got that damn virus....."

The geneticist shooked again, "I can't. The company doesn't allow that."

So that can be eliminated. Dead end. Sergeant Bank paused for a moment, then continued, "are you sure you can't remember the people who attacked your workplace? I brought several pictures of gang members, in case you can recognize one of them."

Keith was getting nervous now. The true nature of his job was supposed to be highly secret. He didn't really know who his employer was, or what was the intention, but he was sure his employer would kill him if he accidentally spilled the secret. "I told you, it was really dark. I have told everything to your colleagues this morning and.... hey, wait"

The geneticist was thinking now. This Sergeant Banks was more persistent than the ones who came earlier; he had to give something to the police without arousing his suspicion. Something. Anything that would stop him from asking more question.

"...hold on," he said, "I believe one of them is a female. Yes. She's got a female voice, that's for sure. Her friends called her 'Demi'."

Sergeant Banks sighed, "it won't be easy to find her, I believe 'Demi' is a nickname anyway. Well, thanks anyway, Mr. Dibben. Sorry to take your time. Get well soon.

Outside the hospital, 'Sergeant Banks' was thinking. The name 'Demi' meant nothing to common people, but anyone ever served in intelligence agency already knew about the infamous mercenary Demi Ferency and her husband Mark; they are on everybody's list from Mossad to CIA to NSA.

So they are involved Kreshna thought. It would be easier, then. Mr. and Ms. Ferency had been hired by someone to attack the lab that developing genetically-engineered vampires.

He needed to keep his eyes on them. In the future, they may encountered those new breed of vampires.

It would be an opportunity to observe the vampires' weaknesses.

=============================================================

OOC: here's the original post below for reference (which continuity doesn't apply anymore, that is). It is in small fonts now.

"Good morning, is it the Dibben residence?"

"Yes. What is it?"

"I am the technician from Ace's Electronics. Mr. Dibben complained about defective hard drive several days ago. Sorry for not arriving sooner; is your husband home?"

"No," Mrs. Dibben expression was getting sad, "he's been put in the hospital since two days ago."

"Oh, sorry to hear that, Ma'am."

"Funny he never mentioned about you," Mrs. Dibben said as the technician walked in, "the computer is in his study," she pointed out, "but I don't know his password. Maybe you should come back again later."

"Don't worry, I don't even need to turn on the computer. It is hardware problem, not software," the technician rubbed his moustache, then unzipped his bag.

Mrs. Dibben merely shrugged, "let me know if you need anything." She then left the room. She never really understood about computer and such; in fact, what worried her is her husband which was still unconscious in the hospital.

After she left the room, the technician produced a large device which looked like a hard drive enclosure from his bag, then started disassembling the computer. After taking out the hard drive, he inserted it into the enclosure. The LCD panel started displaying certain percentage. If Mrs. Dibben back, he would tell her the enclosure device was to scan hard drive for physical defects.

After some moments, the percentage reached a hundred percent. The technician carefully ejected the hard drive and put the enclosure back in his bag. He then put back the hard drive in the computer casing and neatly re-assembled the computer.

On his way out, he greeted Mrs. Dibben, "it seems the hard drive is fine, Ma'am. It doesn't need to be replaced."

She nodded and accompanied him to the front door, then went back to her chair. She didn't really pay attention; all she was worrying about was her husband.

Back in his car, the technician put the bag carefully and patted it with satisfaction. Kreshna was not a hacking specialist, but the "hard drive enclosure" didn't need such expertise to operate either. Just insert a hard drive, push the button, and the entire content would be copied to the its non-volatile memory. The Watchmen always demanded marveleous technology, and despite his early retirement, it always paid to keep good relationship with its vendors. The device itself had been abandoned by the Watchmen due to its large size and the upper limit of hard drive speed, but it can be useful in rare occasion.

Actually, he was not even sure whether the geneticist would keep important data in his home PC, but after searching the factory, it turned out that all and every data had been destroyed. So he had to try it anyway.

He needed to find their weakness.

Day 2

Demi and Mark were already dressed and ready to go when a pounding came at their door.

"Come on in," Mark said, not looking up from cleaning his rifle.

Selene strode in, not bothering to take a seat. About the same time, Alvarius teleported in with a castcade of sparkling blue light, right on queue.

"I expect this'll be a straight in and out mission, right?" Mark said, beginning to reassemble his weapon. "No big gunfights this time?"

"Precisely," the Vampyre answered. "Our goal is to find one of Yuri's psions, and capture him alive. I have a place we can bring him."

"Oh?" Demi added, raising an eyebrow.

"We have a facility used to interrogate captured Lycans," Selene explained.

"You Vampyres think of everything, don't you?" Mark asked in a somewhat impressed tone. "Nevertheless, I have some experience in capturing jobs, this shouldn't be too hard."

"That sounds good to me," Mark said.

"I agree," Selene added. "If those men still out there, they'll be waiting for us."

"What can you see?" Mark inquired.

"Sir, we've gotten word from one of our people scouting the hospitals. They've found one of the geneticists from Yuri's lab. He's alive. Police have been questioning him."
"Outstanding. Recover the gentleman and bring him to me. No traces."
"Understood. We'll have him within the hour."

----------
A pair of black suits and mirror shades entered into the hospital. As they entered they passed another individual leaving. The man appeared deep in thought. One of the suits paused in his step, his head turning to look the man over. He turned back and kept walking.

They found the geneticist's room and stepped inside, pulling the door closed behind them.

When the nurse walked into the room ten minutes later it was empty, clean pressed sheets on the bed, hospital corners neat and precise. Not a trace that anyone had been in here at all. If it weren't for the fact that she was holding the latest results from the blood tests of the man who was assigned to this room she would have sworn he had never existed. He looked at the paper again to make sure she had the right room. A scream from down the hall made her jump as she heard the code blue. The paper fell from her hand as she ran down the hall to help. It lay on the ground forgotten and was later shredded by a janitor who found it and tossed it in the garbage.

------
"Now, Mr. Dibben, do you know where you are and why you're here?"
"N-no..." he stammered, woozy from the drugs and the trip.
"You're here because you were working for someone who is not working in the best interest of the world. A terrorist, if you will. But I figure you already know that. But, Mr. Dibben, your redemption is at hand. You will pay your debt to the world. You're now working for me. Your job will be no different, just a different person paying your paycheck. In three days time you will be sent to a remote facility to continue your work there."
"B-but..."
"There are no buts I'm afraid. You have no choice, no options."
Keith Dibben sighed and sunk into his chair.

-------
He stepped over the charred skeleton at his feet. All around him were similarly charred bodies. Behind him the rest of his Executioner squad swept the house, ensuring the rest of the Kiss of vamps were dead. Or stayed dead at least. Before him was a pair of doors, sealed tight and barred from the inside. He reached into a pack at the small of his back and pulled out a shaped charge. Setting it onto the door he primed the detonator and took cover behind an overturned table. A moment later the explosive detonated blowing open the doors.

He stood, drawing his guns. He walked into the next room. As he entered he raised the guns, arms out and opened fire. The APHE rounds tore into the torsos and heads of the vamps standing there. The clips emptied and he dropped the guns as the smoking remnants of the bodies fell to the ground. An instant later he had another pair of guns in his hand, fingers pulling the triggers and dropping more guards. The guns once more clicked empty and he dropped them as well. Only one more remained.

The vampyre sitting at the head of the table stared at the man before him, anger and hatred raging across his face. His hands slapped the table as he stood.
"How dare you human! You won't live to regret your insol-"

He was cut off as the man before him began to laugh. It was a deep, throaty, soulful laugh. The man's head fell back as he continued to laugh. The head snapped forward again, the laughter stopped. Twinges of a smile crept at the corner of the man's lips. The laughter drained from his eyes like the sun slipping out of the sky. The humor, the humanity, slipped away, until his eyes were as empty and cold as a doll's.
"Don't make me hurt you," he said.

----------
"Sir, Agent Bliss' team has returned. They've got the target with them."
"Excellent! Send our friend to the labs. Make sure he's properly restrained and as uncomfortable as possible."
"Of course. Should I have Bliss preform the interrogation?"
"Let him get some rest first. There's plenty of time."
"Understood."

Khan Noonien Singh, a prince to some, a madman to most, stands in his headquarters, overlooking his newest group of recruitees, being trained in the ways of war by Khan's own genetically enhanced men.

It was less than a year since they were freed from the desolate world of Ceti Alpha V, and they were already once again on the path to world domination. Khan amassed a fortune very quickly, and created his own private army in his training camp outside Istanbul. Soon, their time would come. Soon, the world would be theres.

But the world is not enough for this madman. He wants one thing even more than absolute power. He wants the man who marooned him.

A fiendish smile overtook Khan's countenence as he entertained the thought of slitting that man's throat. He daydreamed of strangling this man with his own guts, then leaving him hanging outside as a warning to all who dare defy him.

And in time, Khan would take his revenge on Captian James T. Kirk.

"Watchmen?" Selene asked.

"Ah, yes, those bastards," Mark sighed. "I should have known they would find the place."

Demi laughed, and said, "Just like vultures. They wait for somebody else to do their dirty work for them."

"So much for taking a closer look at that device Yuri was building," Mark sighed. "So if all of Yuri's people are gone, where will we find them?"

"You don't intend to go back?" Demi asked.

"What's the point now? We need one of those psions, not trouble with the Watchmen, Demi," Mark explained. "After our last little encounter with them back in Zurich, I'm not eager to run into them again."

Demi crossed her arms. She wholeheartedly agreed.

"I very much doubt we will have trouble finding those psionicists again. More than likely they will come to us. As for the watchmen... Ihave been dealing with them for some time. Already I have had to rebuild my tower, twice. Their attepts at assassination are rather clumsy. Though, I hear they have a new director so that may change."

"Still, these Watchmen are interested in what happened last night," Selene noted. "We should find out why that is - without making our presence known. That shouldn't be too hard."

"The only thing I'm worried about," Demi said, "What if they know we were in on this? We did kinda go out of there... heavyhanded."

"That's a problem," Selene sighed. "But one we just have to deal with."

"Which I have no problem with," Mark said with a smirk. "Standard recon loadout, 'we get spotted we're fucked', that sort of thing?"

"Yes," the Vampyre replied.

"Then let's do it," Demi added.

OOC: This jaunt back to the factory will be brief, no combat involved. We're just gonna basically take a look around, see that the psychic beacon is gone, and go back, and figure out what the next phase of this is gonna be.

Side note, Dak, when are we gonna see your end of the plot thicken? Where's Maddie Webber at?

Mark slowly pulled up near the factory site once again, being sure to remain out of view of anyone watching them. He parked curbside, and everyone got out. Soon enough, Selene led them to a nice vantage point atop an apartment building.

Mark took out a pair of binoculars, and looked closely over the factory. Surely enough, none of Yuri's people were visible, only men in black tactical gear, and the occasional man or woman in business attire. From their position, the back of the structure was visible, including the yard in the back. Demi, with her own pair of binoculars, looked over the yard, and shook her head.

"Whatever they were building, it's gone," she sighed.

"Yeah, but the question," Mark added, "is who removed it; Yuri, or the men in black here."

"There are a lot of men back there, examining where Yuri was building that thing," Demi noted. "I'm sure they went over the genetics lab with a fine-tooth comb."

"Then we can be thankful that our friend Vincent is a quick thinker," the mercenary observed.

The genetics lab had been cleaned. Every bullet, every casing, every piece of plastic, metal and glass found and removed. The entire interior of the building had been burned, blackening the walls with soot. No genetic material remained, no clue or hint as to what had happened. Everything that had been useful had since been examined and taken away. Nothing remained.

--------

A knock came at his door once more. He looked up as it opened. One of his lieutenants stepped inward with a folder.
"Sir, we've identified the individuals from the raid of Yuri's lab."

His eyebrow raised in questioning.
"Oh? And?"
"The female vamp goes by the name of Selene. She's what they refer to as a Death-Dealer. Similar to our Executioners. The other vamp was Vincent. He's from the same house as Selene.

"Two of the others are in our files as well as Interpol, the American's alphabet soup group and various other agencies worldwide. Mark and Demi Ferency. An elf and a half-elf. Mark, is your atypical mercenary, though his wife, Demi, appears to be a magic-user.

"And finally, the prize of this little collection, is an individual we've been after a long time. Alvarius is his name. A mage, and a powerful one at that. He's managed to escape our efforts to purge his filth from the world on at least two occassions, both prior to your administration. We've been unable to locate his current stronghold, though we destroyed his first two we found."

"I see. Interesting. Do we know where they are now?"
"Not exactly, no. But we have reports that claim to have sighted Mark and Demi at a hotel last night."
"Find them. Bring them in if you can. If not, destroy them."

--------
Bliss sat comfortably at the small table, cutting his steak, chewing the rare meat. He washed down the meat with a chunk of sweet bread and a swig of beer. The vampire he had captured earlier continued to stare at him, silent and angry.

Edward looked up at the vamp, staring into its eyes. It was practically salivating. Behind Bliss was another individual who was chained to the wall, a mage who was bleeding from multiple wounds.
"Bet it smells good doesn't it? Fresh blood, all that fear, the pain. When was the last time you fed?"

The vamp lunged forward to the ends of its chains then was jerked backwards.
"Now now fang-face. You know better."

Edward stood, picking up a knife that layed on the table by his plate. He walked over to the vamp and raised the blade, the light glinting off the silver edge. Edward pressed the tip against the vamp's bare chest and sliced downward. Blood began to well up and flow from the cut. Dried blood crusted around similar cuts, over a dozen, all healing human slow from the silver blade.
"You know the rules. Every time you try to act out you get cut. I know you can feel pain.

"And as a special treat I'm adding another rule for you to remember. Every time i have to explain the rules to you, you lose something."

Edward with a lightning-quick move spun the dagger and stabbed it forward into the wall, severing the vamp's left index finger. Bliss smiled.
"Now, back to the matter at hand. Where are the other houses located? I want names and numbers."
"You're wasting your time mortal. Better then you have tried and I have killed them all."
"Everyone breaks, vamp, everyone."
"Even you?" the vamp asked sarcasticly.
"Even me," Edward replied, a ghost of a smile on his face.

Edward resumed his work, his knife making quick precise cuts along the vamp's body, slowly bleeding it. Every now and then he'd open up a fresh cut on the unconcious mage behind him, letting the fresh blood flow, reminding the vampire of how it needed it. As Bliss cut and slashed, a master artist on a perverse macbre canvas, he whistled a soft tune to himself. If eyes were the mirrors to the soul, Edward might have been in trouble, because no one was home.
---------

A group of transports stopped blocks away from the hotel. Doors opened and the APCs disgorged a squadron of armored assault troops. Weapons at the ready they moved stealthily in the streets. They took up positions surrounding the hotel, finding cover on rooftops and behind parked vehicles. Another group moved towards the entrance of the hotel, ready to move in.

Two black helicopters circled wide around the hotel, ready to follow if the targets should escape.

The snipers on the rooftop zeroed in their scopes. The others readied their flamethrowers and chambered rounds made to take out the invaders to this world. The bullets were silver, hollow and filled with dimethylmercury, stoppered with a small bit of synthetic polyester wax. The teams checked in and awaited the signal. A single click was heard over all the radios. The teams moved in, bursting through doors and up fire escapes, fanning out and sweeping the hotel floor by floor. If they were here they would be found.

Alvarius stood over his crystal ball once again

"They have moving into your hotel " he said to the two mercenaries.

"They work quickly, already they have found out where you were staying, and already they have attacked and destroyed my base of operations. Twice. The watchmen play no games..." the wizard trailed off.

"You will never be safe, but you can be in less danger. Hold hands. Mark, grasp my shoulder. DO it if you want to have any chance of surviving the week"

They grasped hands and and Mark grabbed hold of Alvarius's shoulder. He he spoke in words of power and suddenly the world seemed to melt away into the nightmarish astral plane. They hurtled through it's spaceat the speed of lighting and soon, were at their destination. The world rematerialized around them, and tey found themselves in a well-lit stone chamber, a table in the center with a raven perched in the center of the room.

....

Seconds after they vanished, the Watchmen agents kicked in the door, the magical residue still hanging in the air like a fog.

Meanwhile, on the rooftop of the next building....

Kreshna watched the scene with a pair of powerful binnocullars, noticing the black helicopters circling the hotel, as well as the people who infiltrated the building.

The Watchmen.

He, after all, was one of them. He knew their ways and methods, and he knew, unless Mark and Demi Ferency were really lucky, it would be short.

The Watchmen had been the most feared organization among the supernatural population. Skilled in combat and bolstered by sophisticated technology, they can always exploit any weakness in magic.

And now, the Watchmen were going to cover their track; retaking back the skeleton who they are supposed to keep in their closet.

The genetically-enhanced vampires was originally the Watchmen's experiment to create a new breed of vampires that can survive sunlight, among other things. A more powerful breed of vampires that were loyal to the organization itself. It was the method of fighting fire with fire.

But the experiment was abadoned few years ago. Now a third party revived the experiment again, he was sure that the Watchmen would not sit still. Not in any sense, particularly since he heard the rumor about the new Director who had more aggressive policies than previous administration.

Kreshna was sure that a bigger conflict would happen between the Watchmen and whoever party that was now trying to revive the experiments; Mark and Demi Ferency just happened to stand in the line of fire.

But whether Mark and Demi would survive or not, Kreshna would agree that the experiment should be stopped. The assassin knew about the experiment and the horrible consequence it had; surviving the sunlight was just the beginning. The genetic engineered vampire he met in Leonardo DaVinci airport was nothing but an early stage.

He knew the horror would be unleashed upon humanity if these genetically enhanced vampires were allowed to develop further.

Be it the Watchmen or the mercenaries, he hoped that they would succeed in stopping the third party that was now reviving the experiment.

After teleporting, Selene considered their next move, not caring at the moment where the mage had teleported them.

"The facility was clean anyway," Demi sighed. "We were doing nothing here but wasting time."

"Alright then," Mark sighed. "We need to get answers."

"Oh, so who would know anything about Yuri and his group?" Selene inquired.

"I have some... contacts..." Mark indicated, glancing over to his wife. "We mercs tend to have lots of friends, as well as lots of enemies."

"Where would this 'friend' of yours be?" Selene asked flatly.

"See, that's the problem," Demi sighed. "He's in London."

Selene blinked. "London?"

"His name is Yusef Hassan, not the most... friendly person I know, but he knows damn near anything, for a price," Mark explained. "He keeps up with things like magical and psionic affairs, even hired me once to take out a psychic in St. Petersburg."

"Whatever, we don't have much time," Selene insisted.

The wizard was drained from transporting multiple individuals. But he was still capable.

"I just teleported you halfway across the globe, I think I can get you to london... or bring him here... in fact I think that might be easier"

on the rooftop..........

When he resigned from the Watchmen, Kreshna still retained most of his tools and devices. Of course it was against the procedure, but having some friends inside always paid; insiders that were also good in manipulating records and archives.

The General Electric TR-275 'Abnormal Phenomenon Tracking and Recording Device' was probably a little outdated by now, especially since he heard that the Watchmen had switched to a new vendor, but his own is still reliable.

Kreshna cursed himself for being a little late in checking his device, but now he knew that Mark and Demi Ferency were not in the hotel anymore. The reading was clear; someone just casted a teleport spell.

And seeing the 'magical' signature, he knew who casted it.

A wizard who had caused a lot of trouble to the Watchmen in the past; a quite powerful wizard who was never easy to reckon with.

Alvarius.

Nobody else could cast a teleport spell as strong as him.

Well, it would be difficult, then. All he concerned that they should be somewhere else around the Globe now.

"That may seem easier," Mark said, "But I would prefer to go to London myself. I have... things... to attend to, not just meeting with Mister Hassan."

"And I'm not so eager to go through that again," Selene sighed.

"Half-way across the globe?" Demi asked. "Where are we, exactly?"

"A small island that until recently did not exist, off the coast of alaska... And if you tell anyone, I CAN kill you from a LONG way away" the mage said, mirthfully.

"Alright, well, if you dont want me to bring him to you... I ca send you to london... THis is going to hurt... Teleportation is not easy"

He had them all grasp hands again, this time, he would not go with them, he had other things to attend to.

Before he cast the spell, he walked over to a shelf and pulled out a scroll.

"demi, when your business is complete, you are all welcome here. So long as you do not interrupt my affairs. Read this scroll When you arrive, you may be unconcious, but it will get you all back here"

He handed her the scroll, and cast the spell.

Mark waved his cell phone, and said, "So much for me buying plane tickets."

Demi laughed, and said, "Well, we saved a few thousand dollars. Come on, we're right in the middle of some alley."

Indeed, the three had teleported right into the middle of a rain-soaked London alley. It was still nighttime. Mark then looked over the tiny screen on his cellphone, and brought up a map.

"We aren't far from downtown," he said. "We'll flag a cab, and go see Hassan. It'll be a short trip from here."

It was just as well that they were gone for the time being. Just as well indeed. There were things he needed to do, people he needed to find. Like Xendrik, his former apprentice. He would need assistance for what was ahead

First, he needed to know where he was.

He peered into his crystall ball again, and called out his apprentices name in the incantation. The world appeared in the eye of the crystal. And flashed before him. He was in chains. Home, in Faerun? No. In the custody of the watchmen. Damn that Q.. Damn his bones, damn his flesh.

How would he get him out... he couldnt risk going into their base... and he was not yet skilled enough to cast a teleportation spell... No... the younging would have to escape... but with his help it could be done.

he whispered a few words and soon was in the mind of Xendrick. Appearing as an illusion in the mind's eye of his former, barely concsious apprentice.

Xendrik. Awaken

I cannot... my body is broken...

Your body is only as broken as you allow it to be. Have you forgotten everything I taught you? Reinvigorate yourself. You know the spell.

But he will hear me...

Not if you cast through act of silent will alone. You can do it... just as I taught you. Perform the actions and words in your mind, it will be harder.. but you MUST do it or you will die. Repeat in your mind, after me. Edath, vedan istar et funiar keveal

Edath, vedan istar et funiar keveal

While Bliss tormented the vampire, negative energy flowed into the young necromancer. Reinvigorating him. He was now a force to be recconed with.

Silently, he gathered the strength to break his bonds. He whispered the wordds, but by the time Bliss noticed, it was too late.
...

Several more words were whispered by Alvarius. The vampire would have to be sacrificed so that his apprentice could escape. He took control over it. And gave it the command to attack Bliss as soon as his bonds were broken.

...

Xendrik cast a favorite spell of his master. His ward against metals, which required only movements of the fingers. His hands silently slipped free of their bonds and went to work escaping.

He cast a spell of opening on the chains holding the vampire just as Bliss turned around to notice the wizard free. And just in time for the captor to recieve a superhuman punch to his left kidney and a sharp pain in his neck from the now free vampire.

Mark and Demi fetched a cab, and soon arrived at a posh restaurant. The two mercenaries walked in, followed by Selene. Soon they came up to a desk, occupied by a Human waiter.

"Bonjeur," he greeted apathetically.

"We're here to see a Yusef Hassan," Mark said flatly.

"Let me see you invitations, please," the waiter replied in an equally nonchalant tone. He then looked over their clothes, and said, "You do realise that we have a strict dress code here?"

Selene grabbed the man by the collar, and shoved a pistol in his face.

"Here's our invitation," she said with a glare.

Mark then walked on, and commented, "Alert the police, and you're a dead man."

The waiter gnashed his teeth, and straightened his ruffled clothing. Soon, the trio came upon a middle-aged man of Arabic ancestry, flanked by two escorts. He was busy pouring them champagne when Mark strode up.

"Ah, Mark Ferency," he said dryly. "What the hell brings scum like you into my restaurant?"

"Business," Mark answered.

"But of course," he laughed. "You always were a man with no time to stop and enjoy life's simple pleasures... what a waste."

"Have you heard of a man named Yuri?" Selene asked impatiently.

"Yuri? Yuri who? There are many Yuris in this world, my pale lady, I need something more specific than that!" he fussed.

Mark walked behind the booth, and leaned over Hassan's ear, whispering, "Cut the bullshit, Yusef, there's someone in fucking Budapest named Yuri, I just busted one of his labs. He's up to no good, and he's into psionics."

"Yes, him," Hassan chuckled. "What business would you have with such a person?"

"Just a job, nothing more," Demi said. "Who is this guy, and what is he up to?"

The watchmen kicked in the room door, bursting in guns at the ready. They were greeted by an empty hotel room and a lingering mist of magic. The pointman's detector started beeping, giving him readouts of the magic field that was quickly diminishing. Damn.

Alpha team's leader stepped in and took a quick glance around.
"Fan out, search the rest of the hotel. They might not have gone far. Find their vehicle and get those helos searching."

The team ran back out of the room and groups of three started going through room after room in vain, finding nothing inside of the hotel.

A group outside the hotel however, figured out which car had brought the vamp to the hotel and were quickly going through it and retrieving data as to who owned it and where it was registered to. They would get something from this damnit!

-------

Bliss was busy playing a nice game of tic-tac-toe with the vamp's chest when he heard the tinkle of chains falling. He half-turned to see what the hell was happening when he sensed the vamp move again. It too had been freed somehow.

Bliss' back arched from the supernaturally strong vamp fist trying to punch its way through his back. He bit back a grunt of pain when the vamp's mouth decended on his neck, fangs piercing the flesh. This time he did let out a yelp of pain as he drove the blade in his hand into the vamp's chest.

Outside one of the guards glanced into the room hearing the commotion only to be greeted by the fleeing necromancer.

Elsewhere guards monitoring the security cameras triggered an alarm when the vamp got free and attacked Agent Bliss. Troops, armed and armored converged towards the room and the necromancer.
