Blix watched from a safe distance, surronded by his personal Bodyguards. The strikeforce was moving efficiently, the expendables where being slaughtered after they caused the damage, but already, the sweet perfume of death. The Beholder was one of many in his horde, this was simply their youngest, the one the Beholder's had deemed most expendable...

"When we done here this night, this place be Goblin Paradise!"

The Goblin Prince laughed, the sound echoing in the night, as the fires burned the village.

----

The Beholder, Mthuysn'sdhd'yeu, moved unimpeded through the city, it's Eyebeams doing mostof the hard work. All about it, villagers where gathered as a meatshield, thanks to his Charm Person eye, while most spells aimed at it faultered as its massive center eye glanced at it.

Everywhere, humans scattered, buildings burned and toppled, and humans were being slaghtered. The bulbous creature heard the attacks centered on it before it saw them, and the anti-magick eye was focused on the spellcaster just as it's spell went off.

The spell fizzled out and sputtered, as the Beholder floated higher, avoiding the Elf's arrow.

Apparently these creatures wanted to fight, not be turned into a thick meaty paste....

The Beholder's mouth opened, revealing row after row of sharp teeth, and it's long, almost prehinsile tongue as it licked what passed for it's lips.

He could already hear, and through his multiple eyestalks, see, the others closing in. Another spellcaster ws in the group, and as it's words where spoken, the Anti-magick eye focused on him. The Power Word Kill spell fizzled and failed before it was even spoken.

It was then the Beholder decided to have his own fun, the ten eyestalks wavering about on it's head, and all the eyebeams unleashed at once

(Note: for those who need to look it up, there's ten eyestalks. Each Stalk has one power, the powers are as follows; Charm Person, Charm Monster, Sleep (per spell, one target) Telekinesis (250lbs max) Flesh to Stone (as spell, 30 yard range), Disintigrate (20 yard range), Fear, Slow (per spell, one target), Cause Serious Wounds (50 yard range) and Death Ray (as per Death spell, single target, 40 yard range). If you want to take out the smaller eyestalks, I'm giving you permission to take out the Death Ray, Slow and Sleep stalks without my interference, if you want to RP a part of the battle, the Beholder will use it's Anti-magick eye on any frontal attacks, and will be making liberal usage of it's Fear eyestalk. Don't kill the Beholder or take out it's center eye without consulting me via AIM or PM.)

"SHit" the gnome called as his spell failed and his defenses were negated. Thankfully, he was a quick little bastard and dodged the Disintegrate ray, which hit the wall behind him and took out a hefty chunk. But he couldnt dodge the Fear ray. It struck him in the chest. He set his entire mind to resisting it. Its magic coursed through his mind, but he managed to fight off its effects just barely. This Eye tyrant was strong.

Had had to move. The beholder was above him, so getting behind it would be next to impossible. SO he hid under a small awning, it would protect him from it's eye rays, as he (the beholder) would need line of sight

Until he had an idea. If he could distract the beholder, he may be able to destroy it.

This spell was powerful, it would take no small amount of his mental and physical energy to weave. There were no words, no gestures, all was done mentally without speaking or moving. This is what made the spell so costly, it was the equivalent of a much more powerful spell. Sweat poured from his brow, but it was done. His epsll was cast.

The clouds opened up, and through them oured a divine light. Amerging from this light was a beautiful winged creature. It soared down from the heavens with a magical longbow knocked and ready to fire in his hand, and an enchanted scimitar on his belt. A Bralani, it was not from this plane and immune to the mental effects of the beholder's eye-rays, and the flesh to stone as well.

He let loose his arrow, severing the Death ray as the arrow struck with a flash of Godly light.

Hopefully it lasted long enough to allow Arvalas to recover from the exertion, and to get the needed spell off.

Jonathon finished with his wounds and turned back to the fray. He noticed off to his left, quite a way out, a grouping of some very dangerous looking goblins. Best to leave them alone. His best bet would be to start getting people infront of the massive destruction out. Without another thought the man jumped out of the forest and rushed to an area near the outskirts of the town that had not yet been overrun by Goblins. Once there he began grabbing anything that could be used as a barricade and began dragging it into the street to use as a defensive point. Any men he saw he called over to help him. Any women and children were told to run and not look back until they reached the next town.

She missed. When she takes her time, she rarely misses. And she took her time. Mefarrian will take it out on many hours of practice and bullseyes later. For now, she has a target. Like any other prey, this one is no different. It is her target, her focus, and it is her world. She takes out another single arrow, taking a long draw back. In the tree, she is well shielded and camoflauged in the foliage. However, she has shot from this location for a while. After this shot, she will have to move to avoid pulling the heat on her.

Arrow drawn back, her muscular arm holds steady as a rock. Steady. Steady. It feels like an eternity to a mortal. To an elf, it is a whisper on the wind. Her almond eyes are steady down the line. Finally, she releases her fingers. The arrow is aimed carefully and meticulously at the eye of the Beholder.

((OOC: Sorry about the delay guys, was hoping to give everyone a chance to respond, and got caught up with RL stuff.))

The Behold was being assaulted on all sides, the angelic being had managed to slice off one of it's stalks, which only darkened it's vision in rage. It was just facing the angel to strike with a full barrage of it's eyes, when the arrow struck it.

Blinded, the Beholder screamed, a primal, unnatural sound that filled the town. Those civilians who had not fled, began to do so with the scream.

A magician learns patience, a vampire masters it. Now was his time. Syvannus emerged from concealment long enough to ennunciate the initiators of the Excellent Prismatic Spray. From a thousand directions, darts of radiant flame converged on the beholder and smote it. Chunks of charred flesh and armor were blasted into the air by the impact and the carcass fell to the earth, myriad holes penetrating the beholder to its core. The vampire crept back into cover.

She smiles and shimmies down the tree. At the bottom of the tree, she draws her short sword, her intent to remove any remaining goblin offenders who are harming the humans and gather the children and hiding.

The Angelic being, its task not completed, landed and brought its sword to bear upon the goblin horde. Each time it struck, it sounded as if an angelic choir was practicing on the battlefield.

Arvalas himself was not done yet. He moved from his "hiding" place and with a quick word and a gesture. several fist sized red orbs erupted from his hands. Each one aimed at a different goblin. They struck chests abdomens and heads, all the same, each carried the force not of a fist, but of a ballista bolt. Heads were caved in, and chests were crushed. Energy cracked from his hands, unhindered, now that the eye tyrant and its horrible gaze was gone.

She finds a child hiding under the bucket used to draw water from the well, and gathers the child, who holds onto her neck, riding piggyback. She slays a nearby goblin who runs to her and the child for assault, green blood splattering over and the child's faces.

Diving out the nearest window, Majorie muttered a quick spell that allowed him to grip the wall like a spider. Quickly climbing up the side, he reached the roof and sprinted across it, just in time to see the Beholder fall to the ground. Deciding that prudence was better than being sorry, he chanted another spell, and sent a bolt of electricity at the Beholder with enough force to drive it into the ground several inches.

The Goblin forces where on the run, the humans apparently had strong warriors.

Blix had even watched as the Beholder was obliterated by the human mages.

"Attack" he shouted, holding aloft the Alicorn, the resonate source of magick and power, and pointing it towards the township. Orcs and Gnolls, goblin elites and Trolls began to march on the town.

Blix smirked, as his warg, a twisted half wolf creature, lumbered forth witht he goblin prince on it's back. Arrows began to rain from the sky as Newdwar Archers hidden in the trees began thier part of the assault.

The town would be taken, Blix knew, his army would consume it, and it would expand the Dark Lord's empire.

With a flick of his wrist, a plume of fire exploded from the ground where the Eye Tyrant's corpse laid.

The summoned Bralani took action. It called upon it's god, the God of Nature, to create a wall of wind to defend the town from the arrow storm.

Arvalas Dove deep into his own mind. It finally clicked in his head. This spell was a powerful killing spell, and it could not be done with anything resembeling stealth. Once he cast it, his enemies would surely know

His voice resonated. The arcane energy his voice called forth causing it to be amplified, audible for some distance in the cold moist air of the morning. His eyes began to glow white and his hair stood on end. The air started to buz around him with an electric crackle and soon the arcs of electricity were visible coursing through and around his body.

He stretched forth both hands, and out came two bolts of lightnign with an almost deafening thunderclap. Each one struck a gnoll and burnt it to a crisp, but then arced off, burning into over a dozen different gnolls orcs and goblin elites. The last targets of each of them was the larger goblin and his worg. The item he wielded signified power, and it was incumbent on Arvalas to test that power.

Seeing this, the Bralani interposed itself between the mage and the Goblin prince.

The severed horn of the male unicorn, the alicorn, was a portent artifact. It was severed by Blix himself hundreds of years ago, hidden from them when Darkness was banished.

But he had it, and the alicorn was more potent that anything mortals would conjure.

The lighting bolt leaped and arced, and struck the goblin prince. But the alicorn absorbed the magical energy, and made it it's own. Blix laughed, and with a wave of the spiraled horn, the wall of wind was gone.

The Angelic being, though, was not to be triffled with, as Blix waved the horn at it. Energy crackled in the sky, as lighting bolts rained upon the winged being, striking it's body, it's limbs and it's head.

Blix was enjoying this all to much, as his goblins surged forward

Jonathon had taken the moment of respite to further build his barricade, it was just finished as the Goblins and their ilk came to crash against it a second time. A few fell from arrows before the came too close and Jonathon drew his sword. Meanwhile 4 of the 6 men he'd managed to keep around were currently building a second barricade down another portion of the intersection for once the Goblins came down that way.

Jonathon's blade was slick with blood as he removed another Gnoll's head. One of the men he'd called upon screamed as an Orc blade found it's mark. The scream turned into a gurgle as Jonathon turned and removed the Orc's arm, then stabbed it through the chest and heaved it back over the ramparts and into it's comrades. They couldn't keep this up forever, he needed the others. Hopefully the rally point would be noticed.

The lighting bolts impacted the Bralani, and did nothing. Bralani were immune to electrical energy and it showed by the Btalani simply laughing. It took out its bow, drew and fired it toward the Goblin prince, attempting to disable his hand and force him to drop the artifact. Hopefully its holyness would prevent any magical attempts at blocking its path.

Arvalas, noticing how his spell had been thwarted, knew that he could not rely on direct attacks to win this fight. Instead, he cast another spell. His voice respnating one more, but this time, the spell was no nearly so powerful as to cause the same crackeling of energy. Rather, the air began to smell of mud during a spring rain, and underneath the worg, and any of the prince's guard the very earth turned into aq deep muddy mire in which their movement slowed. When their feet were encased in the mud, the mage waved his hand, and it transubstantiated into wolid rock. Trapping their feet within.

Contempt oozes from Syvannus as he watches the red robe mage waste magic on the dead beholder. The magicians of this day, he thought grimly. He sees Blix with his Alicorn horn and the fuitile attempt to strike him with merely human sorcery. These young ones carried too many spells with them and were not wise enough to conserve their magics, spilling their power around like drunkards until their brains were empty.

He moved forward, using the buildings to shield him from view by the horde. A great goblin nearly six feet tall turned the corner. Syvannus sliced him open from left shoulder to navel with a single slash. The goblin trailing the big one was decapitated in a single swipe. He beat down the guard of the next one and opened the creature's skull with his steel.

He was behind and to the side of the forward elements of the horde now. He uttered the pervulsions of the Instantaneous Electric Effort. A multitongued dazzle of lightning flashed out, blasting and slaying a wide swath through the goblin horde.

"Foolish humans"

Blix's cry was full of outrage and indignation, as the Alicorn began to glow. The golden spiral flared for a moment, as it began to undo the spellwork being casted by the human mage.

"Human World turns to ice, soon to be Goblin Paradise!"

The wind began to chill, as Blix spoke the words, the human mage's angel-being shuddered and disappeared, as magickal energy was ripped from the air, and focused into the Alicorn. Blix cackled and the Goblin hordes about him screamed thier warcry, as a fell wind began to blow, cold and peircing through even the toughest clothing.

"Cold and snow, coming faster, for these humans, it is disaster!"

Upon the wind, the first snowflakes began to fall...

Syvannus smiled under his mask. The sun was being obscured and strength was returning to his limbs. Now if that archer could just shoot that goblin with the Alicorn, everything would be good.

Arvalas felt chilly, cold even. But he would endure. it was nothing he had not delt with before, with ice para-elementals.

he had to keep it cold, and dark, so that the sun obscured wold allow the vampire to function. He couldnt think of a spell, then he noticed the dagger sheathed on his belt, and it came to him. He drew the dagger and drew it across his own hand, spreading his own blood on the blade. There was no respnation ofhis voice as he spoke the words of the smell, the the air developed the smell of a smithy, and small rocks and twigs left the ground and started lazily floating in the air. The spell was finished, and he threw his dagger at a goblin, but it was not just his dagger. The single dagger became 40 and they flew through the air at his direction, causing havoc and death among enemy troops. 10 of them spiraled around him, protecting him from those who would close in to do him harm.

Where is the archer? Where is the archer? When the arrows flew from the sky, a few non deflected arrows took their toll. The child around her neck fell dead on the ground, a unintentional human shield which protected her heart and head. The other children scatter to the wind when they realize that the child around Mefarrian's neck is dead.

Another arrow hits Mefarrian in the shoulder as she dives for cover. Behind a boulder, she breaks off the arrow for now until she is able to have it pulled. Her teeth gritting in pain and resolve.

She cannot hold a bow at this time, so she takes inventory of what she has. Her short sword would entail she could get in for close combat, but the victory was not as assured as originally thought.

She looks around to see the others engaged in combat and gather status of the fight. If she were alone, she would retreat. Sure, they are magic users, but they must be running out of power by now, with the way they are using it.
