Deathstrike is denied - Cuddlebot is approved.
Wait...that's probably not right. Flip that around.

Breakout is Approved

Novawing is approved

Outrunner is approved

Pathfinder is approved.

Hornet is approved (may the Guiding Hand have mercy on your Spark). Slight changes to the history - the Quest isn't to find Optimus. Optimus left after leaving behind the title of Prime - he insist he is referred to as his old name, Orion Pax. Of course, some Autobots have a habit after 4 million years of War of a) falling into line behind Orion, and b) still referring to him as Optimus.

---------------------------------------

Major NPC's are listed below, with a brief blurb about them. If you want to know more, I suggest the TFWik and look up their "IDW Universe" sections.

Rodimus
Commander of the Lost Light Autobots
One Time Matrix holder. Brave, Charismatic, reckless, easily bored. Believes his own hype.

Ultra Magnus
Second in Command / Duly Appointed Enforcer of the Tyrest Accord

Takes his job (and everything else) extreme seriously. Smiled once, and regretted it ever sense.

Drift
Nominal Third in Command

Ex-Decepticon. Longs to be defined in some other way. Recent brush with death has reawakened his Spiritual Side.

Rachet
Chief Medical Officer (of the Autobots) / prolific life saver

A world-weary super-medic with unreliable hands. Kind, but not as he once was. Hopes to find his successor on this quest.

Red Alert
Director of Security

Professional Eavesdropper, part-time conspiracist, full-time paranoiac. Has the best ears in the business.

Rung
Ship's psychiatrist

Weak of body, sharp of mind. Seems to always be around, but is seldom noticed by the people there. Very good at his job.

Chromedome
Memnosurgeon

Cynical, Prone to moping, resents his own talents. Relies on Rewind to keep him honest.

Rewind
Archivist/Historian

A walking datase of Cybertronian history. One of the few Minicons left - transforms into a Data-stick. Excitable and trusting, uses head-mounted camera to record history as it happens.

Brainstorm
Weapons Engineer / Prolific Murderer

Amoral, single-minded, workaholic and possible genius. Carries a briefcase containing the Unmentionable. Is willing to build anything if it will challenge him.

Cyclonus

Warrior / Practicing Troublemaker

Ex-Wrecker, Twice voted "Autobot most likely to defect". Consistently referred to as a "Flying Weapon of Mass Destruction. Amoral Prick. Best Avoided.

As far as Hornet's concerned, Orion Pax is some weird name that Optimus Prime just made up. And Hornet doesn't even really know what the Quest is about save "adventure stuff!"

Did I see that right? Hornet isn't gonna be a hornet? he's gonna be a f-16?

I wish I still had time for RPGs, but working 12 hour shifts on a 4/3/3/4 rotation just doesn't leave time to keep up with the game. And I approve of cuddlebot.

I don't intend for the game to be fast paced - but hopefully it will progress well enough.

I'll be putting up the IC thread this weekend - It'll be introductionary type thing, starting off with Rodimus' "Big Speech".

A note on the Lost Light itself: The ship is not a Autobot ship, but it is Cybertronian in design. It's a ship purchased by Rodimus from a group of NAILS who had no intention of leaving Cybertron again, and was offered a good deal and pretty words and were only too glad for it to be out of their hands.

So the ship isn't one any of you will probably be familiar with before hand, and it may or may not have surprises in the future.

Shit. Novawing is definitely going to check the ship thoroughly out at the first opportunity. He has this issue about not wanting to ride on an old rickety, rusty piece of junk kept long past its recommended lifespan. Call it a quirk.

Do you honestly think Ultra Magnus would allow Rodimus to leave planet on a old rickitty hunk of junk?

The Mech counts rivets for fun, and makes sure they are in line.

Hornet was always a small, single-engine jet fighter, more like an F-16 than anything else. I took the Hornet's name because it seemed more fitting than the F-16s, given the character.

Per Wheeljack, Hornet's really part F-16, part F-18, part MiG-31, part MiG-23, part X-53 (which is basically an F-18). The overall effect though is a plane that looks reasonably similar to the F-16.

Okay, less reticent. The gigantic, overly inclusive comic back story with weak elements at first seemed to be a questionable bad choice, but having read some of the More Than Meets The Eye series I can see why you wanted to use it as the basis of game. It's a well written adventure story with wit, humour, and badassery. And that's just the Scavengers, let alone the main cast.

A few comments:

1) I want my own P-6 Worldsweeper. That's a sweet ride.

2) If I don't get a new body for Deathstrike, I want a cybernought. Just imagine the destruction if you put Hornet on the controls? How can you turn me down? The P-6 provides man.

3) Fuck me the DJD is badass. Is it just me or is Tarn designed to reduce Mary Sues to slag? :thumb:

4) That's some cold blooded shit that they did to Shockwave.
It's not that I'm unforgiving, it's that most of the people who wrong me are unrepentant assholes.

Pretty much - the comic is some of the best TF writing in a long time - the sister comic, "Robots in Disguise" is more political mayhem and isn't as much fun - due to the fact it also takes place over a much shorter time-frame than MtMtE (RiD takes place over a couple weeks time, MtMtE's timeframe is a couple months at least).

The last three issues of More than Meets the Eye are also some of the best, most sympathy and tear inducing bits to come out of the current Writing Team. And that's saying something. The Scavengers, I'm sure, will be seen more of - and I have little doubt the DJD will end up making a appearence in the comic again soon.

And yes, the DJD is pretty much writing to cause Mary Sue characters to wet themselves - the DJD are what EVERY Decepticon fears, except for Megatron because they obey Megatron to a fault. Tarn himself is perhaps the most fear inducing thing there is about the team - with his fine words and soft music his "weaponized conversation".

Tarn kills you with Class and Sophistication. and Violence.

A lot of Violence.

I chose carefully when it came to basing this game off the comic, I'm going to try to throw the issues up on the server when I get home next week so everyone can have a chance to read it.

Should I assume Prowl is happy to see Breakout leave? Especially since Deathstrike and Hornet are going to?

More than likely

I'm not sure what Prowl's attitude towards Breakout would have been.

On this, assume however you want.

Oh we'll definitely see the DJD and the Scavengers again. The Scavengers have one of the most beloved transformers of all time on their crew and the DJD are tough enough to challenge a ship full of Autobots with badasses like Cyclonus, Rodimus, and everyone's favorite jailer on board. Also, would kind of be a waste of all those comic issues dealing specifically with the Scavengers and the DJD if they didn't.

Also I promise to never ask for a double fusion cannon. I hope you appreciate my restraint.

On issue six...

Pipes is the ship punching bag isn't he?

Also if anyone wants to join the plot to murder Whirl and get away with it, I am taking applications. Just PM me with the title "Committee For A Better Crew" please include any references. No experience necessary however.

Pipes is a somehow ignorant, innocent Autobot who wants to desperately see the Universe...he's almost like Hornet.

So yes, he ends up being the ships Punching Bag for the story.

Sharing the love is all well and good, but this is a public forum, accessible by google, and this isn't an out of print series with questionable ownership, it's in active publication by people who *really* want people to buy the books.

You know it occurs to me, that most of the Autobots never really stopped being civvies. You know, deep down inside. Despite fighting a war for millions of years, many of them never stopped thinking of themselves as civilians who just happened to take up arms...

You may have a point there, Frig. Optimus was very happy to return to being Orion Pax, if he had the chance. Decepticons, however, were always fighters.
