Sebastian Giroux was born in the French city of Caen twenty five years before the Fall. He was the third son (and fifth overall) of the children of Bertrand Giroux chief executive officer of a company that would eventually be absorbed and become part of Experia after the fall. Sebastian was raised in luxury and afforded little of the time of his parents. He was sent to boarding schools by the age of seven and was raised away from his parents like the overwhelming majority of his siblings. By the time he had graduated from school, Sebastian had decided that he would pursue a career in Journalism. The worsening state of political tensions in the planet was of interest to him. Through his connections with his father, he was able to get a job working for one of the major French news organizations by the age of 20. For five years, he covered the worsening global conflicts playing by the same rules as the majority of his peers. Compromises and negotiations lead to access. His work was above average but nothing truly spectacular and he blended into a seemingly ever increasing number of news casters and reporters. When the fall began, Sebastian saw it as an opportunity to differentiate himself from his peers. He refused an opportunity to escape the planet alongside his parents and the majority of his siblings and instead chose to stay behind in order to document as much as possible. Sebastian managed to convince a military unit to allow him to become "embedded" and document their fight against the TITANs.
Sebastian managed to survive the Fall escaping in one of the last flight of shuttles leaving the doomed planet. Although he lived through the Fall, he emerged with an incomplete picture of the conflict as his primary recording device had to be discarded and hidden in a mad scramble away from TITAN forces near the outskirts of Paris. Upon arriving on Mars, his surviving footage won him some recognition but was not enough to push him into the elite ranks of the top one percent of his peers. For the next two years, he received a lucrative contract from Experia and worked for the Hyper-Corp. He was found to have a good eye for XP productions as well as viral marketing and he utilized these talents to elevate the cause of his patron corporation while subverting those of their enemies. The work was challenging but he remain unfulfilled. Sebastian's fame continued to rise due to a series of exposes over an eighteen month period ranging from corporate espionage, corporate abuses as well as a series of scandals ranging. He skillfully maximized the impact of these stories while in others, he reached out to corporations in order to limit the damage to the corporate interests. It was a balancing act meant to maximize his fame while minimizing the fallout amongst the corporate interests of the planetary consortium. After he was a household name, he allowed his contract with Experia to end and became a free agent leveraging his fame and reputation to seek out causes that interested him.
Over the last seven years, Sebastian has established himself as one of the most famous "unaligned" medias in the inner solar system. Artyom is one of many perfect examples of the damage done by the Fall. Before the Fall he was a wealthy and successful professor performing cutting edge research into the design and engineering of new implants and nanotechnology. After the Fall he woke up on Luna with only the vaguest memories about what had happened to him. From a rough chronology of things he was likely one of the earliest casualties and thus his ego was cleared of infection and damage quickly. His skills and contacts also had him singled out for early re-instantiation, especially as he had enough off-world accounts that he was not immediately beggared like so many others. For a time he was fine with the situation and bent his skills towards trying to repair some of the damage, until he started to see how many others were being made into debt slaves and how certain technologies he knew could be used to help the situation and were not related to the TITANs were being closed off. He had been sheltered from the worst of transhumanity's excesses of inequality before, seeing his research as being for the benefit of all and his wealth a fair and modest compensation for his work. Now he saw the technology he had contributed to perverted to hobble the lame and empower the already powerful. Bitterness and anger welled up inside him and he soon started to look at solutions that were outside the peaceful ones he had used in the past.
His first forays into the more violent side of life were disastrous as he attempted to use skillware to download military training. Not being initiated into such shadier dealings, he got a bad set that interacted badly with the memory editing he had received, burning out his ability to properly use guns and leaving him with the occasional tinge of phantom sensation that made him easily distracted. He had the worst of the secondary damage fixed, but has kept the damage to his skills with kinetic weapons as a twisted sort of memento and penance. The act however let many of his former acquaintances know just how furious he was with the current system and he ended up burning the vast majority of his bridges with former contacts in the hypercorps and government before he dropped off their radar for many years, disappearing into the Outer System.
Eventually Artyom returned to the Inner System, having extensively modified his morph using his skills and contacts. He still believes strongly in the power of science and technology to solve the problems of the Solar System, it is just that he no longer believes that those who currently hold the technology are responsible enough to use it. He considers himself philosophically parallel to some streams of autonomist thought, although not all, but he is willing to support either technically or militarily groups such as the Titanians or Barsoomians. He supports his lifestyle via licensing arrangements of designs for implants and weaponry through various microcorps, along with consulting for groups on nanotechnological concerns, although he performs the latter mostly pro bono. In the past this has brought him into contact with Firewall when he was involved with cleaning up the results of TITAN nanoweapons within the Martian biosphere, where his preferred methodology involves intense bombardment with EM radiation and excited ions. In a 70 durability Fury Morph.
With two combat skills in your top four (discounting language).
On the face of it, that alone isn't enough to make me say "no". However, infugees from Earth (or, really, anywhere) were scanned when they came in, because they were paranoid and fearful of any breaches potentially made by the TITANS. They knew weird stuff was going on, and any egocast that came through with serious problems in their headspace, would have been deleted before the ego had been transferred to the infugee camps. The Planetary Consortium wouldn't have even bothered trying to shovel someone like that off on the Autonomist Alliance, much less have somehow have given a psychologically unstable man access to a top of the line kitted for battle Fury morph, which are expensive and rarely handed out like candy anyway.
Oh, and since there's a lot of attention being paid here, I'll be clear about what I'm looking for from players for this game. First off, this game is not going to be combat heavy. You want super-awesome railguns of doom? Fine. You will not be carrying them around in public. You may well (read: will) be going heavy at some point in the game, but if you are coming into this game looking for combat every session will quickly find themselves in a cheap synth morph or flat, or perhaps locked up in Simulspace Prison.
You are supposed to be at least nominally covert, at the least engaging in acts of plausible deniability when in civilized space. Not a full-blown special forces kill team.
Also, I will be requiring not only your backgrounds, but your motivations as well, before I accept any character. That goes for everyone. If you want something kept secret, that's fine, send it to me via email or IM or something, and I'll keep it quiet as I can.

No, the first game will not be tomorrow. As of right now, I have precisely no characters with a fully acceptable sheet by my standards, though several are close. I'm not going to start a campaign before I know what characters are going to be in it.
And Academia Nut, you missed the point entirely. That a character concept could include a combat scientist in a combat morph fully decked out with combat gear is not the fundamental problem here. That's doable in the setting with the right backstory as long as you're somewhat reasonable about it.

Again, you would NOT have been resubstantiated with TITAN tampering in your head. much less accepted into Firewall with such a potentially catastrophic x-threat bouncing around in your head. This is not a playable character, this is the sort of thing I might put out as an extinction level threat the team would have to try and stop.

Oh, I never meant for the character to be an out and out loon with TITAN virii crammed in his head. I meant for him to be a bitter man who had all of the inequalities of the Solar System shoved into his face after suffering catastrophic trauma and loss. He still uses his old skills to help, its just that he no longer philosophically believes in a peaceful resolution to problems like he once did and has invested heavily into remaking his persona into one that can deal out violence if necessary. The character is meant to be reflective of the larger tragedy of the Fall writ on a more personal level, in that all of his hopes and optimism for the advancement of humanity through technology have been soured and perverted. He still believes in the power of science to improve people's lives, it is just that now he thinks that the ending of some lives would be a significant improvement for many others.
He is kind of crazy, but more in a broken but still functional sort of way. He's someone who has lost everything, including his faith in his fellow man. I will rethink how exactly I want to present things though, and possibly do some rebuilds if I think that will fit the character concept better.

In a world wherein one can undergo psychosurgery to remove traumatic experiences, that anyone would be resubstantiated with major neurological trauma is very unlikely to start with. The addition of even close exposure to TITANS makes things highly suspect, and with Edited Memories, you don't know what did or did not happen, which lowers anyone's trust of you by rather extreme levels, especially given the Firewall methods of recruitment, which include full psychological profiles for stability and loyalty.
And if you're going with a gung-ho scientist, there's Ultimates to look at. Just saying.

Mea culpa. I should have caught the problem in the credits, and I have since corrected it. I have also completely rewritten the backstory while keeping what I feel is the essence of what I wanted. Is this more acceptable?

Near-Earth habitats were not fun places to observe the Fall from. Those with the resources quickly relocated away from the homeworld, and those without...well, some lived, some died, and some saw the writing on the wall and beamed their egos out just before something unfortunate happened. In that, however, they were luckier than most of those living on Earth itself, simply by time.
They beat the rush.
Terrence was a young computer specialist at that point in time, splitting his time between securing his home habitat's infosystems and manning the improvised defense batteries that most everyone near earth had cobbled together as conditions on the surface worsened. When the hammerblow fell, they weren't anything like enough, and his particular habitat was in a distant enough orbit to get out in time, albeit not corporeally -- the last ships had departed some time before.
Even on Titan, which became famous in the years after the Fall of Earth for its liberal policies with regards to morph provisioning, there was a waiting list that grew exponentially as the masses fled Earth. Terrence could have been at the front of that line, but quite simply he found he didn't mind the bodyless life, at least not nearly so much as the vast majority of the clamoring masses begging and pleading for a new lease on corporeal existence. At first, he simply kept passing his spot in line to others, again and again, until finally he simply and quietly slipped away into the Titan mesh, an independent with no ties to anyone or anything. In a calmer time, that might have made waves, ripples at least, but in the post-Fall chaos... well, if anyone noticed at all. they were probably just grateful to have one less yammering voice begging for a morph.
Over the following years, Terrence became more and more of an outlier as more and more of the vast queue of disembodied egos were processed and resleeved. No one could claim he shirked his duties as a citizen of Titan; he served his conscript term voluntarily, 'manning' a section of defense batteries on one of the orbiting battlemoons while working through some of the vast libraries and tutorial archives with the speed and multitasking capability that only an infomorph (or a heavily-augmented morph of some other type, admittedly) can manage. Over the years, he became known in wider and wider circles as a simulspace architect of growing skill and renown, but that reputation was tarnished in Titan's body-centric philosophical circles by his increasingly-public stance on the virtues of a voluntary infomorph society. It's a testament to his success in both pure academics and simulspace design that his positive reputation was able to outpace his vocal fringe philosophy.
He came to the attention of Firewall the way many do; by being in at once the wrong and the right place at the right time. A TITANist cell discretely contacted him in an attempt to recruit what they thought, from his own infomorph nature and his outspoken advocacy of the same, would be a like mind. When he was subsequently accosted by a Firewall team who thought HE had been compromised by that same TITANist cell. Some fast talking and a lot of dancing through interconnected systems later, that was sorted out. After some additional intelligence swapping, the Firewall team in question was able to ambush and eradicate the TITANists, and the beginning of a relationship was born.
