They may be big targets, but they're also a lot harder to hit than any other part of a dragon's body because they move the most, and are the easiest to move.Cynical Cat wrote:Sure it is but a 20mm just puts a 20mm ( or for you Yanks less than an inch wide) hole in a wingsail and a few of those is only a minor impairment to flying. You want to take out a dragon's wing then you're really going to have to rip it up, which is again more than a few hits with a 20mm. Wings are, however, big targets.

Forget hitting the wingSAIL. Hit the Alar bone supporting the sail and it crumples. Hit the shoulder joint, make it painful to flap.

Remember the original question was regarding hitting the wing with gunfire... unless we gain the ability to stop time, I doubt I'll ever make a shot at something as precise as a specific bone in a rapidly moving object, regardless of angle, while in aerial combat.

spray and pray
Pray a lot.
Like 95% of your available time of the day better be spent praying to make that shot.

Seriously. If the option you're considering has chances that are only modified by begging and prayer, it probably isn't an option worth aiming for.
If you want to hit a specific body part, normally you have to be in knife(claw)-fighting range.

Sorry, I was busy graduating these past few days. I'll get a post up today. Also, I'll be travelling next week, so I may get a single post in next week as well.

My degree is in aerospace engineering. I've got one more year of school left, and I'll be finishing up with a Master's in the same.
Anyone got ideas for Emily and poor waterlogged Luna? Unless I can post Luna waking up and doing something, I seem to be stuck and in need of help.

I am fairly certain she would have become un-stunned by now. Other than that, are double the mass of the Nimbus and float really well. You cant move around but to basically doggy paddle, but you still have huge claws and teeth and even an immobile animal is dangerous to a predator.Hawkwings wrote:My degree is in aerospace engineering. At this point is kind of like "single orca vs grey whale", save that in this case, the grey whale has huge claws and can counter attack from all sides. At the very least, you can make the Nimbus think twice, and if lucky, grab on and savage. In a grapple, the big advantage of it being aquatic is reduced significantly.

*looks at post*
See ladies and gentlemen. That is a bad way to start combat...
*looks to the as yet unengaged special* Help! I promise I'll at least keep Albatros busy after that. No promises on what condition I will be in after I am done playing distraction though.

how about I somehow lure the Nemesis over to you're end of the combatting. You could take him on, and I'll fry Albatross for you?

Well, my offer was more in jest than anything Charon.
I'm pretty sure I'm screwed unless someone else can reach me. Which may be either Frostfell of Cap.
Also: I'll get a post up ASAP...the last week or so's been a bitch for me.

Just keep running and keep zapping DS, the longer you can avoid a grapple the better.
